The demands for the various type of directional coupler, which is for the sampling of the signal levels in mobile communication baseband or transceiver systems, are growing. The proposed dual directional coupler, which has three parallel coupled transmission lines, can provide the dual coupling and good isolation characteristics between the coupling ports. In this paper, the novel analysis method and the design equation of even and odd mode for the dual directional coupler, which is employing the asymmetrically coupled transmission lines, are proposed. Using the proposed method, the dual directional coupler for PCS system has been designed and fabricated. We obtained the desired coupling value and the high directivity of 40dB. Measured results show the validity of this design method.

Recently, various simplified simulation techniques such as firite-difference beam propagation method and non-orthogonal coupled-mode theory have proposed to analyze the optical characteristics of tapered directional couplers supported by the coupling of two propagating modes. Although these approaches are often in sufficiently accurate, they do not provide the detailed solutions encountered in the analysis of tapered guiding structures. For this purpose, we introduce and utilize a newly developed modal transmission-line theory to analyze rigorously power transfer of the directional coupler. The numerical result reveals that the propagation constants of even and odd modes converge to a single value as increasing the spacer thickness between two symmetric tapered guides. Furthermore, 97% of the power incident into a guiding channel is transmitted to the other channel at the tapered angle ${\theta}=0.1^{\circ}$, and the efficiency of power transfer decreases dramatically as increasing the angle.

In this paper, novel lumped equivalent circuits for a conventional parallel directional coupler are proposed. This novel equivalent circuits only have self inductance and self capacitance, so we can design exact lumped equivalent circuit. The equivalent circuit and design formula for the presented lumped element coupler is derived based on the even- and odd-mode properties of a parallel-coupled line. By using the derived design formula, we have designed the 3 dB and 10 dB lumped element directional couplers at the center frequency of 100 MHz and 2 GHz, respectively a chip type directional coupler has been designed with multilayer configurations by employing commercial EM simulator. Designed chip-type directional couplers have a 3 dB-coupling value at the center frequency of 2 GHz and fabricated lumped directional coupler on fr4 organic substrate has a 3 dB, 10 dB-coupling values at the center frequency of 100 MHz. Excellent agreements between simulation results and measurement results on the designed directional couplers show the validity of this paper. Furthermore, in order to adapt to multi-layer process such as Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic (LTCC), chip-type lumped element couplers have been designed by using this method.
Background: In the low incoming country Bangladesh, breast cancer is second most common neoplasm and is increasing at an alarming rate among females. Lack of awareness and illiteracy are contributory factors for late presentation and therefore mortality. Purpose: To examine associations of different factors with breast cancer mortality and to raise awareness among the women of society in Bangladesh. Materials and Methods: This descriptive case-control study was conducted on 160 participants from April 2011 till July 2014. Through a valid questionnaire covering personal and family history, data were collected by face to face interview. For analyzing correlations among factors with breast cancer data, binary logistic regression, Pearson's ${\chi}^2$-value, odd ratios and p-value tests were conducted with SPSS version 20. Results: The mean age of the patients was 43.0 ($SD={\pm}11.12$). In ascending order the leading significant factors were hormone therapy (p<0.0000, OR=4.897), abortion (p<0.0001, OR=3.452), early start menarche (p<0.0002, OR=3.500), family history (p<0.0022, OR=3.235), and late menopause (p<0.0093, OR=3.674) with both ${\chi}^2$ test and logistic regression analyses. Non-significant factors were cancer experience, fatty food habits, marital status and taking alcohol. Conclusions: Regarding the investigation of this study, significant and insignificant factor's correlation visualization with breast cancer will be helpful to increase awareness among Bangladeshi women as well as all over the world.

Background: In the literature, data concerning the relationship between breast cancer and HLA class II gene polymorphisms are limited, so the aim of this study was to determine if HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB1 MHC class-II alleles may confer susceptibility or resistance to the disease among Jordanian females. Materials and Methods: This case control study enrolled 56 Royal Hospital breast cancer patients and 60 age matched healthy controls, all of whom provided blood samples (2011-2013). A questionnaire was filled after signing a consent form and DNA was extracted, nucleic acids being amplified for assessment of HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB1 alleles by muliplex INNO-LiPA and allele typing carried out by reverse hybridization. Comparison of HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB1 allele distributions was carried out with paired t-test and chi-square statistics. Risk factors were assessed by odd ratios with 95% confidence intervals. Results: A significant negative correlation was observed between $HLADQB1^*$ 02 alleles and breast cancers (p=0.013). No significant associations were observed among $HLADQB1^*$ 03, 04, 05 and 06 or among $HLA-DRB1^*$ 01, 03, 04, 07, 08, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15. Conclusions: $HLADQB1^*$ 02 alleles may provide positive protection against breast tumor risk among Jordanians, but not $HLADQB1^*$ 03, 04, 05 and 06 or $HLA-DRB1^*$ 01, 03, 04, 07, 08, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15 alleles.

In the synthesis of the current source distribution function of an array antenna with the arbitrary radiation pattern, the Woodward-Lawson sampling method has been mainly used for the synthesis of an even function lobe pattern. In this paper, the method is extended to the synthesis of the odd function pattern and then the optimum synthesis method for the nonlinear source distribution function is proposed. The proposed method is applied to the design of nonuniform transmission lines with arbitrary reflection responses. The both dispersive impedance profiles of single and coupled nonuniform lines with arbitrary reflection responses are directly synthesized by the sampled values of a reflected spectral pattern which is optimally shaped by a perturbation of its complex null positions, hence removing the conventional step-by-step segmentation process and global optimization routines. The control problem in the case that all of port impedances are identical is also solved. The generality of the proposed method is verified by a filter design with the controlled arbitrary passband

This paper presents a compact double resolution scheme for the optical angle sensor based on 1-dimensional CMOS photodiode pixel array. All the pixels are divided into the even pixel and the odd pixel groups. The winner take all circuit is provided for each group. The proposed interpolation scheme increases the resolution by 2 from the winner addresses and winner values. The interpolation scheme can be implemented without any additional pixels or winner take all circuits and require only a comparator and a XOR gate. The proposed pixel array chip that has 336 photodiode pixels with $5.6{\mu}m$ pitch was fabricated with $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process and was assembled with a $50{\mu}m$ slit to form an angle sensor. The measured resolution is $0.1{\circ}$ with the proposed interpolation. The chip consumes 35mW and provides 8k samples per second.
This study purposes to explore the narrative of fictional events complicated by a specific narrator, taking notice of his/her role as an internal focalizer as well as an external participant. In William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily," the story of an eccentric spinster, Emily Grierson, is focalized and narrated by a townsperson, apparently an individual, but one who always speaks as 'we.' This tale-teller, as a first-hand witness of the events in the story, details the strange circumstances of Emily's life and her odd relationships with her father, her lover, the community, and even the horrible secret hidden to the climactic moment at the end. The narrative 'we' has surely watched Emily for many years with a considerable interest but also with a respectful distance. Being left unidentified on purpose, this narrative agent, in spite of his/her vagueness, definitely knows more than others do and acts undoubtedly as a pivotal role in this tale of grotesque love. Seamlessly juxtaposing the present and the past, the collective 'we' suggests an important subject that the distinction between the past and the present is blurred out for Emily, for whom the indiscernibleness of time flow proves to be her hamartia. The focalizer-narrator describes Miss Emily in the same manner as he/she describes the South whose old ways have passed on by time. Like the Old South, Emily is desperately trapped in the past, since she has not been able to adjust to the changes brought on by time. In the end, the tragic story of Emily Grierson which takes place in Jefferson plainly seems to serve as an introduction to mature Faulkner.

It is very important for the competitiveness and sustainable management of enterprises that the rapid changes in the managerial environments quickly and accurately are responded. For example, the large-scale investment accompanied by bad alternatives in accordance with misunderstanding of the managerial environments yields the huge cost and effort to modify and improve. In firm management, the quality of products and the productivity are influenced by changes of the endogenous factors yielded in manufacturing process and the exogenous factors as market, etc. These changes include not only changes in 4M (man, machine, material, method) but also those in the market, competitors, and technologies in the process of commodification, i.e., first, such disturbances make dispersion of the process big and odd. By Shewhart chart it can be checked that the process monitored is control-in or out. Business administration executes activities for input stabilization by monitoring changes in 4Ms, comparing with the standards, and taking measures for any abnormality. Second, TRM (technology road map) is to prospect product deployment and technological trend by predicting technologies in the competitive environment as the market, and to suggest the future directions of business. So, TRM must be modified and improved according to DR (design review) stages and changes in mass-production like input material change. Therefore, a role of TRM in input stabilization for reducing cost and man-hour is important. This study purposed to suggest that the environment changes are classified into endogenous factors and exogenous factors in production process, and then, quality and productivity should be stabilized efficiently through connection between TRM and input stabilization, and to prove that it is more effective for the display industry to connect TRM with input stabilization rather than to use TRM separately.

In this paper, a $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator is applied to reduce the size of planar resonators for a 2.4 GHz Band LTCC MLC bandpass filter. The $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator operates as stepped impedance resonator (SIR) without changing the width of the planar resonator. It is composed of two sections those are parallel coupled line and transmission line. The characteristic impedance of two sections is different each other. The design formulas of the bandpass filter using the coupling element at the arbitrary position are derived from even and odd-mode analysis. The formulas can take account of the arbitrary coupling of lumped and/or distributed resonators. The advantage of this filter is its abilities to change freely the coupling structure between two resonators. Experimental bandpass filters for 2.4 GHz Band are implemented and their performances are shown.
