Anode Properties of TiO2 Nanotube for Lithium-Ion Batteries (리튬이온전지용 TiO2 나노튜브 음전극 특성)

  • In this review, the studies on the electrochemical properties of $TiO_2$ nanotube as an anode material of lithium-ion battery, which was prepared by an alkaline hydrothermal reaction and anneling process, were investigated andanalyzed in terms of charge-dischage characteristics. Up to date, a maximum discharge capacity of $338mAh\;g^{-1}$(x=1.01) was achieved by the nanotube with $TiO_2(B)$ phase, whereas the theoretical capacity of $TiO_2$ anode was $335mAh\;g^{-1}$(x=1) in the basis of $Li_xTiO_2$ as a product of electrochemical reaction between $TiO_2$ and lithium. This was due to fast lithium transport by a shortened diffusion path provided by controlling the nanostructure of $TiO_2$, because the self-diffusion of lithium was slow in a basis of its activation energy as 0.48 eV. Due to an excellent ion storage capabilities in both the surface and the bulk phase, the $TiO_2$ nanotube could be a promising active material as both an anode of lithium-ion battery and an electrode of capacitor with high-rate performances.

Gymnaster koraiensis and its major components, 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid and gymnasterkoreayne B, reduce oxidative damage induced by tert-butyl hydroperoxide or acetaminophen in HepG2 cells

  • We investigated the protective effects of Gymnaster koraiensis against oxidative stress-induced hepatic cell damage. We used two different cytotoxicity models, i.e., the administration of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP) and acetaminophen, in HepG2 cells to evaluate the protective effects of G. koraiensis. The ethyl acetate (EA) fraction of G. koraiensis and its major compound, 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (DCQA), exerted protective effects in the t-BHP-induced liver cytotoxicity model. The EA fraction and DCQA ameliorated t-BHP-induced reductions in GSH levels and exhibited free radical scavenging activity. The EA fraction and DCQA also significantly reduced t-BHP-induced DNA damage in HepG2 cells. Furthermore, the hexane fraction of G. koraiensis and its major compound, gymnasterkoreayne B (GKB), exerted strong hepatoprotection in the acetaminophen-induced cytotoxicity model. CYP 3A4 enzyme activity was strongly inhibited by the extract, hexane fraction, and GKB. The hexane fraction and GKB ameliorated acetaminophen-induced reductions in GSH levels and protected against cell death.

Flux Growth of $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ Single Crystals and its Magnetic Properties

  • We studied the effect of Dy content on the magnetic properties of cobalt ferrite single crystal. The $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals were grown by the flux method by using $Na_2B_4O_{7.}10H_2O$ (Borax) as a solvent (flux). The black and shiny single crystals were obtained as a product. The X-ray diffraction test at room temperature confirmed the spinel cubic symmetry with lattice constant a = $8.42{\AA}$ of the single crystals. The presences of constitute elements (Co, Fe and Dy) was endorsedby EDAX analysis. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals was measured and is found to be 72emu/g or equivalently $3.2{\mu}B$/f.u. at 300 K. The observed Ms and coercivity (Hc) is found to be lower than that of pure $CoFe_2O_4$.

  • In this study, microstructural and electrical properties of (Pb)(La,Nd)$TiO_3$ cerramics were investigated as a function of CuO addition. Taking into consideration Tc of $325^{\circ}C$, dynamic range of 49dB( at the wafer form) and density of $7.71g/cm^{3}$, it can be concluded that the specimen S2 sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ is the best for the resonator application, Dynamic characteristics of energy-trapped 20MHz SMD type resonator as a function of internal dot size variation were also investigated. Dynamic range characteristics showed the highest value of 60.72dB at S2-4(dot size 1.13mm).

Dynamic range characteristics showed the highest value of 60.72dB at S2-4(dot size 1.13mm).

Transmission of Substituent Effects through Five-Membered Heteroaromatic Rings. III. Addition Equilibria of Hydroxide Anion to Benzaldehyde Analogues

  • Transmission of substituent effects through 5-membered heteroaromatic rings is investigated theoretically at the RHF/6-31+G and B3LYP/6-31+G levels using the equilibria for the $OH^- addition to five-membered heteroaromatic aldehydes (5MHA). The transmission efficiency (S) in 5MHA(A) increases in the order NH>O>S>PH but the order exactly reverses in 5MHA($T^-$). This is originated by the delocalizability of the ${\pi}$ lonepair on Y, $$n_\pi$(Y)$. A better correlation is obtained with ${\sigma}_p^-$ in the Hammett plots with positive slope, $p_z$ > 0, indicating that the substituent (Z) effects are not transmitted by a direct conjugation. The magnitude of $p_z$ for Y=NH is the largest among the heteroaromatic systems, which is consistent with the largest transmission efficiency change $({\Delta}S)$. The equilibria for the addition processes are favorable in the gas phase $({\Delta}G^o<0)$, which reverses to unfavorable in aqueous solution $({\Delta}G^o>0)$ due to the relatively large salvation energy of $OH^-$ in the initial state in aqueous solution. The orders of ${\Delta}G^o$ and $p_z$ in the gas phase are almost maintained in solution.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate mapping properties of an integral operator in which we show that the function g defined by $$g(z)=\{\frac{c+{\alpha}}{z^c}{\int}_{o}^{z}t^{c-1}(D^nf)^{\alpha}(t)dt\}^{1/{\alpha}}$$. belongs to the class $S(A,B)$ if $f{\in}S(n,A,B)$.
