Application of Stable o/w Nanoemulsions with Skin Depigmenting Agent for Integration Type of Cosmetics (피부 미백제를 함유한 안정한 o/w 나노에멀젼의 융복합형 화장품 이용)

  • Oil-in-water(o/w) nanoemulsions were prepared in the system of water/Span 80-Tween 80/long-chain paraffin oil via PIC method. With the increase of preparation temperature from 30 oC to 80 oC, the diameter of emulsion droplets decreased from 150 nm to 40 nm. By varying the HLB of mixed surfactants, we found that there was an optimum HLB around 13.0~14.0 corresponding to the minimum droplet size. The size of emulsion droplets increased upon increasing the ratio of oil/emulsifying agent. At $f{\leq}0.15$, the size of nanoemulsions could be kept constant more than 2 months. The increase in preparation temperature makes it possible for producing monodisperse nanoemulsions. Once the nanoemulsion is produced, the stability against Ostwald ripening is outstanding due to the extremely low solubility of the liquid paraffin oil in the continuous phase.

  • We have prepared 20 kinds of Mn-Zn ferrites as content of CaO(0.1 mol%), NiO(0.0~0.60 mol%) and CoO(0.0~0.8 mol%) adding by the coprecipitation method and studied the magnetic properties as content of CaO, NiO and CoO adding. Initial permeability decrease as the content of NiO and CoO adding increases, while Curie tem~ perature increase as the content of NiO and CoO adding increases. $(H_{c})$, $(B_{s})$ and $(W_{h})$ increase as content of NiO adding increases.

Design of Propeller Geometry Using Blade Sections Adapted to Surface Streamlines (표면 유선에 정렬된 날개 단면을 이용한 프로펠러 형상 설계)

  • In this paper, we suggest a design concept of defining the propeller geometry by stacking up the blade sections aligned with propeller surface streamlines. Numerical and experimental propeller open water(P.O.W.) characteristics of a newly designed propeller are presented. The surface streamlines for a propeller are obtained by using the panel method. Redefinition of the blade sections aligned with the streamlines is provided together with 8-spline modeling, by which we manufacture model propellers. We carried out the P.O.W, tests in a towing tank in order to show the effect of the present method on P.O.W. characteristics.

Evaluation of Alginate Microspheres Prepared by Emulsion and Spray Method for Oral Vaccine Delivery System (유화법과 분무법에 의해 제조된 경구백신용 알긴산 마이크로스피어의 평가)

  • Alginate microspheres, containing fluorescein isothiocyanate-bovine serum albumin (FITC-BSA) or green fluorescent protein (GFP) were prepared and used as a model drug to develop the oral vaccine delivery system. The alginate microspheres were coated with poly-L-lysine or chitosan. Two methods, w/o-emulsion and spray, were used to prepare alginate microspheres. To optimize preparation conditions, effects of several factors on the particle size and particle morphology of microsphere, and loading efficiency of model antigen were investigated. In both preparation methods, the particle size and the loading efficiency were enhanced when the concentration of sodium alginate increased. In the w/o-emulsion preparation method, as the concentration of Span 80 was increased from 0.5% to 2%, the particle size was decreased, but the loading efficiency was increased. The higher the emulsification speed was, the smaller the particle size and loading efficiency were. The concentration of calcium chloride did not show any effect on the particle size and loading efficiency. In the spray preparation method, the particle size was increased as the nozzle pressure $(from\;1\;kgf/m^2\;to\;3\;kgf/m^2)$ and spray rate was raised. Increasing calcium chloride concentration (<7%) decreased the particle size, in contrast to no effect of calcium chloride concentration on the w/o-emulsion preparation method. Alginate microspheres prepared by two methods were different in the particle size and loading efficiency, the particle size of microspheres prepared by the spray method was about $2-6\;{\mu}m$, larger than that prepared by the w/o emulsion method $(about\;2{\mu}m)$, and the loading efficiency was also higher with spray method. Furthermore, drying process for the microspheres prepared by the spray was simpler and easier, compared with the w/o emulsion preparation. Therefore, the spray method was chosen to prepare alginate microspheres for further experiments. Release pattern of FITC-BSA in alginate microspheres was evaluated in simulated intestinal fluid and PBS (phosphate buffered saline). Dissolution rate of FITC-BSA from alginate/chitosan microsphere was lower than that from alginate microsphere and alginate/poly-L-lysine microsphere. By confocal laser scanning microscope, it was revealed that alginate/FITC-poly-L-lysine microspheres were present in close apposition epithelium of the Peyer's patches of rabbits following inoculation into lumen of intestine, which proved that microspheres could be taken up by Peyer's patch. In conclusion, it is suggested that alginate microsphere prepared by spray method, showing a particle size of & $10\;{\mu}m$ and a high loading efficiency, can be used as a model drug for the development of oral vaccine delivery system.

  • 유화제의 물리화학적인 성질을 이용하여 O/W와 W/O에멀젼을 제조하는 방법(예:PIT method, D-phase method)은 이제까지 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔으며, colloid mill, homogenizer, ultrasonic emulsifier와 같은 유화장치도 지속적으로 개발 및 개선되고 있다. 하지만 이들 방법은 공정의 정확한 조절이 어려우며, 제조된 에멀젼의 입자크기 분포가 다분산적(polydispersed)이라는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이를 극복하기 위한 방법으로 1980년대 중반에 일본에서 처음으로 개발된 막유화법이 있다. 이 기술은 pouous glass membrane 가운데 기공크기(pore size)가 균일한 SPG(Shirasu Porous Glass)막을 사용하여 균일한 입자분포를 가지는 에멀젼을 제조하는 것이다. 한편 막유화에 사용되는 막이 갖추어야 할 조건은 다음과 같다.

  • Piezoceramic filters were fabricated by adding $MnO_2 and FeZ0_3$ to the $0.05Pb(Al_{2/3}W_{1/3})O_3-0.95Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti0.48)O_3$ system using photolithography method. As the amounts of $MnO_2$ increased, the electro-mechanical coupling factor(Kp) decresed. On the other hand, for $Fe_2O_3$ added samples, Kp was 57%, but mechanical quality factor(Qm) showed relatively low value. The passband widths were 155kHz for 0.3wt % $MnO_2$ addition and 260kHz for 0.1 wt % $Fe_2O_3$ addition, and were inversely propotional to Qm values. Group delay time characteristics showed Gausian for $MnO_2$ additions and Butterworth for$Fe_2O_3$ additions.

Development of photocatalytic PVA/$TiO_2$ nanofiber membrane by electrospinning and its application for Air Filtration

  • Nanofibers have a large potential in air filtration applications. In this work, we have developed a photocatalytic polyvinyl alcohol PVA/$TiO_2$ nanofibers membrane for the treatment of air filtration by using electrospinning method. PVA were electrospun into nanofibrous membranes and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were loaded in PVA nanofibers in various contents from 10% (w/w) to 50% (w/w). The UV-Vis spectra were conducted for testing the existence of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles in PVA fibers. SEM analysis indicated that $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were loaded on the surface of PVA fibers and dispersed linearly along the fiber direction, which originated from the effect of polarization and orientation caused by high electric field. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to determine the crystalline of the membrane. Tensile strength was measured to evaluate the physical properties of the membrane. Therefore, our work suggested that PVA/$TiO_2$ nanofiber membrane has a potential application in air filtration area.

  • In this paper, $Ba_{0.5}$Sr$_{0.5}$TiO$_3$ thin films were prepared on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method. We investigated effect of deposition conditions (especially RF input power) on structural properties of BST thin films. Deposit conditions of BST films were set working gas ratio, Ar:O$_2$= 70 : 30, working pressure 10mTorr, and RF input power 25W, 50W, 75W and 100W. Post-annealing using rapid thermal annealing(RTA) performed at 45$0^{\circ}C$, 55$0^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$, and 75$0^{\circ}C$ in oxigen ambient for 60 sec, respectively. The structural properties of BST films on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate analysed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).).).

Microstructure and Corrosion Properties of Plasma Electrolytic Oxide Coatings on AZ31 Magnesium Matrix Composite (플라즈마 전해 산화 처리한 AZ31 및 Al18B4O33w/AZ31 마그네슘 복합재료 피막의 미세구조 및 부식특성)

  • Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) treatment was performed on squeeze cast AZ31 alloy and $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to characterize the surface morphology and cross-section microstructure of the coating. The phase structures of the PEO coating were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The corrosion resistance of the PEO coating was evaluated by electrochemical method. The results showed that the $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$ whisker on the surface of the composite was decomposed and $MgAl_2O_4$ was formed in the PEO coating layer of $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite during PEO treatment. As a result, the electrochemical corrosion potential of the PEO coated $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w/AZ31$ composite was increased compared with that of AZ31 alloy.

Morphology and swelling property of chitosan microapsules and microbeads prepared by W/O emulsion (W/O 에멀젼에 의한 chitosan microcapsule 및 microbead의 morphology와 팽윤성)

  • Chitosan microcapsules and microbeads were prepared by W/O emulsion method, and their morphologies were observed through SEM. The microcapsules have skin layer of 8 Um and 250 Um of mean diameter, The swelling test showed higher s welling ability in protic solvents than in aphotic solvents. After containing moth-yl violet in the microcapsules, the release patterns were investigated. The results sho wed that the addition of Iysozyme in pH 5.1 acetate buffer accelerated the re-lease rate. In case of the microbeads, the mean diameter was about 70 Um. The surface of the microbeads showed porous structures. The swelling ability of the beads revealed two times higher than the one of the microcapsules.
