$Tb^{3+}$ or $Eu^{3+}$ or $Ce^{3+}$-doped $CaYAlO_4$ phosphor were synthesized by solid-state method. $CaYAlO_4:Tb^{3+}$ is shown that the $Tb^{3+}$-doping concentration has a significant effect on the $^5D_4/^5D_3{\rightarrow}7F_J$ (J=6,...,0) emission intensity of $Tb^{3+}$. The $CaYAlO_4:Tb^{3+}$ phosphors show tunable photoluminescence from blue to yellow with the change of doping concentration of $Tb^{3+}$ ions. The $CaYAlO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors exhibit a red-orange emission of $Eu^{3+}$ corresponding to $^5D_0$, $_{1,2}{\rightarrow}^7F_J$ (J=4,...,0) transitions. The $CaYAlO_4:Ce^{3+}$ phosphors show a blue emission due to $Ce^{3+}$ ions transitions from the 5d excited state to the $^2F_{5/2}$ and $^2F_{7/2}$ ground states. The decay time of $CaYAlO_4:Tb^{3+}$ phosphors decrease from 1.33 ms to 0.97 ms as $Tb^{3+}$ concentration increases from 0.1 mol% to 7 mol%. The decay time of $CaYAlO_4:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors increase from 0.94 ms to 1.17 ms as $Eu^{3+}$ concentration increases from 1 mol% to 9 mol%.
Objective: To investigate the effects of ROS on kinematic parameters in human spermatozoa. To verify the changes in above parameters, human spermatozoa were incubated with xanthine-xanthine oxidase (X-XO), $H_2O_2$, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) or lymphocyte. Otherwise, spemlatozoa were incubated under low $O_2 (5%) condition. Methods: CASA was employed to analyze sperm motion parameters. Results: Under $H_2O_2 treatment, all kinematic parameters of spermatozoa were dramatically increased during 30 min, but gradually decreased thereafter. Under the low concentration of $H_2O_2 (125 ${\mu}M$ and 250 ${\mu}M$), the movement velocity (VAP, VCL, VSL) decreased, but forward movement increased. Under the 1mM $H_2O_2, sperm showed reduced kinematic parameters except during first 30 min of incubation. In the cases of X-XO and SNP treatment, the movement velocity increased but the forward movement reduced. After incubation for 3 hr treatment, the kinematic parameters gradually decreased in high concentration of X-XO. However these parameters maintained or increased in low concentration of X-XO. There was no obvious changes in the above parameters in the high concentration of SNP. In the presence of high concentration of lymphocytes, all parameters decreased. Under the 5% $O_2 condition, the parameters of the movement velocity and movement pattern increased, but forward movement decreased. Taken togethers, it suggested that ROS increased the movement velocity but decreased the forward movement and lateral head replacement. $H_2O_2, X-XO, SNP and lymphocyte treatment significantly increased capacitated spermatozoa within I h of incubation. There was no significant difference in capacitation between low- and high $O_2 group. Conclusion: The early onset of capacitation in the presence of ROS suggest that ROS might be a positive regulator of sperm capacitation and hyperactivation. These results demonstrate that low concentration ROS facilitates the movement velocity but high concentration ROS was inhibitory.
Organic dye-doped glasses, viz., ruthenium (II) tris(4,7'-diphenyl-1,10'-phenanthroline) $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ incorporated into thin silica xerogel films produced by the sol-gel method, were prepared and their $O_2$ quenching properties investigated as a function of the $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ concentration (3-400 ${\mu}M$) within the xerogel. The ratio of the luminescence from the $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$-doped films in the presence of $N_2$ and $O_2$ ($I_{N2}/I_{O2}$) was used to describe the film sensitivity to $O_2$ quenching. ($I_{N2}/I_{O2}$ changed three-fold over the $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ concentration range. Time-resolved intensity decay studies showed that there are two discrete $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ populations within the xerogels (${\tau}_1$ ~ 300 ns; ${\tau}_2$ ~ 3000 ns) whose relative fraction changes as the $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ concentration changes. The increased $O_2$ sensitivity that is observed at the higher $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ concentrations is a manifestation of a greater fraction of the 3000 ns $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ species (more susceptible to $O_2$ quenching). A model is presented to describe the observed response characteristics resulting from $[Ru(dpp)_3]^{2+}$ distribution within the xerogel.
The objects of this study were to investigate emissions of air pollutant the particles as well as the combustibility of the low grade domestic anthracite coal and imported high-calorific bituminous coal in the fluidized bed coal combustor. The production of air pollution from anthracite-bituminous coal blend combustion in a fluidized bed coal combustor was evaluated. The effects of air velocity and anthracite fraction on the reaching time of steady state condition was also evaluated. We used coal samples the domestic low grade anthracite coal with heating value of 2,010 kcal/kg and the imported high grade bituminous coal with heating value of 6,520 kcal/kg. The experimental results are presented as follows. The time of reaching to steady state was affected by the temperature variation. The steady state time was about 120 minute at 0.3 m/s which was the fastest. It has been found that $O_2$ and $CO_2$ concentration were reached steady state at about 100 minute. As the height of fluidized bed becomes higher, the concentration s of $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ mainly increased. The concentration of freeboard was the highest and emission concentration was diminished. Also, as anthracite fraction increased, the emission of $SO_x$ concentration was increased. But, it has been found that the variation of $NO_x$ concentration with anthracite fraction was negligible and the difference of emission concentration according to air flow rates was negligible, too. It has been found that $O_2$ concentration decreased and $CO_2$ concentration increased as the height of fluidized bed increased. As anthracite fraction increased, the mass of elutriation particles increased, and $CO_2$ concentration decreased. Also, as air velocity increased, $O_2$ concentration decreased and $CO_2$ concentration increased. Regardless-of anthracite fraction and flow rate, the combustible weight percentage in elutriation particles were high in the case of fine particles.
In this paper, effective thermal conductivities of water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids with low concentration from 0.01 vol. % to 0.3 vol. % are experimentally obtained by transient hot wire method (THWM). The water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids are manufactured by two-step method which is widely used. To examine suspension and dispersion characteristics of the water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids, Zeta potential as well as transmission electron micrograph (TEM) is observed. We confirm the manufactured $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids have good suspension and dispersion. The effective thermal conductivities of the water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids with low concentration are enhanced up to 1.64% compared with that of DI water at $21^{\circ}C$. In addition, experimental results are compared with theoretical results from Jang and Choi model.
[ $CO_3O_4/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ ] catalysts were reported high activity on the low temperature CO oxidation. The effects of the calcination temperature, the loaded amount of cobalt and the oxygen concentration on the characteristics of CO oxidation have been investigated for a emergency escape mask cartridge. $Co(NO_3)_2\cdot6H_2O$ was used as cobalt precursor and the catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation. TGA shows that enough calcination is accomplished at $450^{\circ}C$ and cobalt phase is $Co_3O_4$ after calcination in the temperature range of $300\ ~500^{\circ}C$. The specific surface area and pore volume of catalysts are decreased with increasing of loaded amount of cobalt. And with the increase of loaded amount of cobalt and the oxygen concentration, the catalytic activity is increased.

Generation of chlorine dioxide ($ClO_2$) was studied by the un-divided electrochemical cell system using $RuO_2$ anode material. Sodium chlorite ($NaClO_2$) was used as a precursor compound of chlorine dioxide. Effect of various operating parameters such as feed solution flow rate, initial solution pH, $NaClO_2$ and NaCl conc., and applied current density on the produced chlorine dioxide concentration and solution pH were investigated in un-divided electrochemical cell system. Produced chlorine dioxide concentration and solution pH were strongly depends on the initial solution pH and feed solution flow rate. Sodium chloride (NaCl) was not only good electrolyte, it was also used as a raw material of chlorine dioxide with $NaClO_2$. Observed optimum conditions were flow rate of feed solution (90 mL/min), initial pH (2.3), $NaClO_2$ concentration (4.7 mM), NaCl concentration (100 mM), and current density ($5A/dm^2$). Produced chlorine dioxide concentration was around 350 mg/L and solution pH was around 3.
Theoretical predictions for thermodynamically stable phases which formed when alkali(sodium and potassium) vapors reacted with alumina-chromia refractories under coal gasifying atmosphere were confirmed experimentally using a laboratory-scale coal gasifying reaction system and a commercial alumina-chromia refractory using SEM, XRD, and EDAX. Alkali concentration profiles in the refractory as a function of time were also determined. The results showed that the compounds that formed were $X_2O{\cdot}Al_2O_3, X_2O{\cdot}Cr_2O_3, X_2O{\cdot}5Al_2O_3, X_2O{\cdot}7Al_2O_3, X_2O{\cdot}11Al_2O_3(X=Na^+ \;or\; K^+)$, depending upon the alkali concentration and time of exposure at high temperatures. The presence of sulfur in gasifying atmospheres did not appear to affect the alkali reaction produces. Alkali pentration into the alumina-chromia refractory was deep and the formation of the $Na_2O{\cdot}Al_2O_3/K_2O{\cdot}Al_2O_3$ compunds resulted in the serious deformation of the refractory due to the large volume expansion at the reaction surface. The hot face of the alumina-chromia refractory in service under an alkali environment is prone to failure by alkali attack.
A study on the particle growth in $TEOS/O_2$ plasma was performed, and particle size and its distribution was measured by the electrical aerosol analyzer (EAA), light scattering particle size analyzer and the particle size was also determined by SEM. The effects of process variables such as total gas flow rate, reactor pressure, supplied power and initial reactant concentration on the particle growth were investigated. From the EAA results, the particle size distribution is divided into three groups of the cluster size and the small and large size particles. The particle size distribution measured by the light scattering particle size analyzer becomes bimodal, because the cluster size particles smaller than 20 nm in diameter cannot be detected by the light scattering particle size analyzer. The size of particles measured by the light scattering particle size analyzer is in good agreements with those by the SEM. Also we could understand that the particle formation is very sensitive to the changes of reactor pressure and reactant concentration. As the total gas flow rate increases, the particle size decreases because of the shorter residence time. As the reactor pressure, or the reactant concentration increases, the particle concentration increases and the particles grow more quickly by the faster coagulation between particles.

To estimate dispersion stability of particles in anionic and nonionic surfactant mixed solution, suspending power was examined as functions of duration time of suspension, ionic and nonionic surfactant mixed ratio, surfactant concentration, kinds of electrolyte, ionic strength and mole numbers of oxyethylene additions to nonionic surfactant using $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ particle as the model of particulate soil. The suspending power of anionic and nonionic surfactant mixed solution was relatively higher than that of anionic and nonionic surfactant single solution regardless of solution concentration. The suspending power was gradually decreased with increasing duration time of suspension. In the absence of electrolyte, the effect of surfactant concentration on suspending power was small but in solution with electrolyte, suspending power was lowest at 1 % surfactant concentration. With 1${\times}$10$^{-3}$ ionic strength and polyanionic electrolyte in solution, the suspending power was high but effects of oxyethylene mole number to nonionic surfactant on suspending power was small. Generally the suspending power was gradually increased with decreasing the particle size. Hence the suspending power was inversely related to the particle size.
