Participants were 142 nurses working in nine long-term care hospitals. The Ethical Issues in Clinical Practice Tool was used. Data analysis was performed using SPSS WIN 24.0. Results: The degree of experienced ethical issues was 1.23 out of 3, and 'Providing care with a possible risk to your health' was an ethical problem most frequently experienced in nurses. In addition, the ethical problem that the nurse most disturb was identified by 'Determining when death occurs'. The degree of needs for ethical education was 3.11 out of 4, and the highest ethical topic was 'Legal/ethical issues in the use of restraints'. Ethical issues and needs for ethical education were not statistically significant differences according to the characteristic of participants. Conclusion: In this study, we identified the ethical problems and necessity of ethics education experienced by nurses working in long-term care hospitals. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the development of customized ethical education contents for nurses in long-term care hospitals.

This study was to investigate the effect of deontology and utilitarianism on the ethical values of nursing students and to provide basic data. Data collection was conducted from May 14 to June 1, 2018 in 180 students of a university nursing student in Daegu who explained their research and agreed to the study. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. In order to confirm the difference between the subjects' demographic characteristics and nursing-related characteristics, the independent t-test and ANOVA were used, and the post-test was conducted using the $Sch{\acute{e}}ffe$ post-test. The ethical values of the nursing students were $97.51{\pm}8.96$ out of 150, indicating that they were inclined toward the position of deontology. The first grade students were more dominant, and the higher the grade, the more inclined toward utilitarianism. It is necessary to develop education to establish ethical values so that ethical decision making can be done through philosophical thinking when various nursing dilemma situations in the clinical field are based on the results.
This article explores some of the ethical issues associated with the fourth industrial revolution and suggests new directions for bioethics education in Korean universities. Some countries have recently developed guidelines and regulations based on the legal and ethical considerations of the benefits and social risks of new technologies associated with the fourth industrial revolution. Foreign universities have also created courses (both classroom and online) that deal with these issues and help to ensure that these new technologies are developed in an ethically appropriate fashion. In South Korea too there have been attempts to enhance bioethics education to meet the changing demands of society. However, bioethics education in Korea remains focused on traditional bioethical topics and largely neglects the ethical issues related to emerging technologies. Furthermore, Korean universities offer no online courses in bioethics and the classroom courses that do exist are generally treated as electives. In order to improve bioethics education in Korean universities, we suggest that (a) new course should be developed for interprofessional education; (b) courses in bioethics should be treated as required subjects gradually; (c) online courses should be prepared, and (d) universities should continually revise course contents in response to the development of new technologies.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has tremendous potential to change the way we train future health professionals. Although AI can provide improved realism, engagement, and personalization in nursing simulations, it is also important to address any issues associated with the technology, teaching methods, and ethical considerations of AI. In nursing simulation education, AI does not replace the valuable role of nurse educators but can enhance the educational effectiveness of simulation by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, faculty development, and learner self-direction. We should continue to explore, innovate, and adapt our teaching methods to provide nursing students with the best possible education.
Purpose: This study aimed to explore the experiences of hospice and palliative care (HPC) nurses at inpatient hospice centers in South Korea during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Methods: Data collection was conducted through individual interviews with 15 HPC nurses using face-to-face interviews, telephone calls, or Zoom videoconferencing. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. Results: This study found that HPC nurses experienced practical and ethical dilemmas that reinforced the essential meaning and value of hospice and palliative care. The participants emphasized their practical roles related to compliance with infection prevention measures and their roles as rebuilders of hospice and palliative care. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that inpatient hospice centers must mitigate the practical and ethical dilemmas experienced by nurses, consider establishing explanation nursing units, and provide education to support nurses' highlighted roles during the pandemic. This study can be used to prepare inpatient hospice centers and the nurses that work there for future infectious disease outbreaks.
