Purpose: This study aimed to describe a non-face-to-face dementia prevention and physical activity program in small rural villages during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The study used a case report provided by a primary healthcare post in Gyeonggi-do in 2020. Results: The program was "From head to toe, stay healthy", which was largely divided into dementia prevention ("Dementia Zero Zone") and physical activity ("The less fat, The healthier body"). Five elderly people aged 75 and over participated for preventing dementia, and 13 residents joined the health promoting programs over 80 times in total. This program was designed one-to-one customized and person-centered program, including counseling, education, and health services. The program participants responded that the amount of physical activities was increased even under strict social distancing and they felt less isolated and less depressed. Moreover, the number of screening for dementia was increased with this program. Conclusion: This case has shown the applicability of a new approach to sustain health promotion programs in the context of limited interaction with rural nurses. Under the challenging environment that requires adaptation to information and communication technologies (ICTs), it will be necessary to solve not only technical problems but also digital literacy issues of rural residents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the risk perception, safety climate and preventive behaviors of COVID-19 infections, and to verify the factors influencing the adoption of preventive behaviors by health care workers. Methods: A mixed-method approach was used based on a survey carried out in a general hospital. Quantitative data (N=181) were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple regression. Qualitative data (N=8) were collected through individual interviews and analyzed through Colaizzi's phenomological research method. Results: The factors influencing adoption of preventive behaviors by health care workers were safety climate (β=.41, p<.001), education (β=-.20, p=.025), work unit (β=-.16, p=.032), and risk perception (β=.15, p=.020). The explanatory power was 28.3%, and they have shown that these health care workers felt 'the threat of a pandemic like a battlefield', experienced 'struggle with quarantine rules' and realized 'the reality of infection control and the reorganization for change'. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that to increase the adoption of infection control preventive behaviors by health care workers when faced with new infectious diseases in the future, it is necessary to establish organizational support and a safe climate. This study confirms the need for preemptive support and education.
Purpose: The study examined the effects of ethical sensitivity and person-environment fit on person-centered care of nurses in long-term care hospitals. Methods: The participants were 111 nurses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS program. Results: The mean of person-centered care was 2.95±0.62 out of 5. There were significant differences in person-centered care in terms of age, shift pattern, total clinical career, and educational experience of person-centered care. Person-centered care and ethical sensitivity, person-centered care and person-environment fit showed a positive correlation. Factors affecting the person-centered care were the age (20-29), shift pattern (three shift), person-environment fit. The explanatory power was 42%. Conclusion: These results can be used to increase the person-environment fit and adopt a differented approach based on age and shift pattern in order to enhance person-centered care. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply an person-centered care program for nurses in long-term care hospitals.
Purpose: The purposes of this study was to describe the lived experience structures of married immigrant women with chronic diseases in reorganizing their lives in a variety of situations and contexts. Methods: This study applied grounded theory approach, and the participants were 15 married immigrant women with chronic disease. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and then analyzed by the method in Strauss and Corbin (1998). Results: The extracted data were organized 41 concepts, 21 subcategories, and 8 categories. The central phenomenon was determined to be "Life turned into a chronic disease." The causal conditions were "Undergoing physical and mental stress from marriage", "Lack of information on chronic diseases." The extracted contexts was "The demand for health resources." action and interaction strategies, "Finding problems and solutions." The intervention conditions influencing the strategies was "Establishing a support system." The result of such action was "To settle down in a way of life that suits your conditions." Conclusion: By providing a comprehensive and integrative understanding of how married immigrant women with chronic disease reorganize their lives, the study is expected to contribute to the development of social systems and national policies.
The purpose of the study was to determine the convergent validity, discriminant validity and internal consistancy reliability of the social support and family support measuring tool. Two procedures were used : 1) Campbell and Fiske's multitrait-multimethod approach and item total correlation with Chronbach's $\alpha$. The result suggest that SNM, NSSQ, SNM/family, NSSQ/famliy is a valid and a reliable instrument for measuring social support. But PRQ part2 is low in convergent validity. The results further suggest that we have to more attention to a valid and reliable likert type scale for social support.

In this paper we propose a system to forecast the dangerous behavior of the dementia patients. Basic idea of our approach is to measure the body movements of the dementia patients using the acceleration sensor. Based on the data measured, warning the care-givers about possible dangerous actions like falling down from the bed and slipping down onto the floor to some extent. The signals measured by the acceleration sensor are processed by a one-chip computer. Based on the diagnosis of the one-chip computer , alert signal is generated to the care-giver by a wire-less signal. The sensor is implemented in a compact body . Applicability of the system is now being examined at a nursing home.
This study measures the subjectivity on stressful life events of middle- aged women. Method: Q-Methodological method was used for that purpose. As for the research method, Q-statements were collected preliminary to the study of through in-depth interviews and a literature review. For the study 38 Q-statements were selected. There were 28 middle aged women as subjects for the research. Q-Factor Analysis by using PC Quanl Program to supply the material. Result: Through the result of this study, the stressful life events of middle-aged women could be identified by 4 types. The type I is called the conflict in relationship with husband's family members. The type II is called lack of marital intimacy. The type III is called low self-esteem. The major goal of caring the elderly is not to cure the patient, but rather to improve or maintain the individual functional ability. With the aged population increases, there is increasing consensus among health care workers about the importance of developing a tool to measure and evaluate the health status of the elderly. As many writers is pointing out, care of the elderly embraces the spectrum of physical-social-psychological problems and an enormous number of variables could be introudeced into the health worker's routine measurement. But such an expansive approach to measurement could have disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to introduce the measurement tools of physical functioning, perhaps the most important measure required in long-term care, which are separated into three categories of measures; general physical health, ADL, IADL. It is important that all health workers who provide care to the elderly incorporate the concepts of functional health status into the routine assessments. And continuous study about reliability and validity is needed to apply those foreign tools to Korea.
In an attempt to investigate the psycho-social environment of, and to identify contributing factors to asthma, an explorative study was designed. An in-depth interviews of thirteen mothers nth asthmatic children on their child-rearing experiences were carried out from May through October, 1992. Data were gathered and analysed concurrently. The child-rearing experiences were classified into five categories; perceiving the attributes of, perceiving the health status of, affective interactions with, socialization of, and health management of asthmatic children. Thus, a comprehensive approach for the care of asthmatic children, and studies of family on multi-dimensional contributing factors on asthma are strongly recommended.
