혈액투석실에서 근무하는 간호사의 특성이 근거기반 혈액투석간호지식과 수행정도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Characteristics of Nurses on Knowledge and Nursing Performance Evaluation of Evidence Based Hemodialysis Nursing Practice in Hemodialysis Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of characteristics of nurses on knowledge and nursing performance of evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice among hemodialysis unit nurses. Methods: The participants were 180 nurses working in hemodialysis unit for more than 6 months in 23 private and general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggido. Data were collected from March 30th to April 15t in 2016 and were analyzed using stepwise regression analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA. Results: Nurses' knowledge on evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice was $15.87{\pm}4.52$ out of 23 points. Type of hospitals working in and adherence to evidence based hemodialysis guidelines were significant factors to knowledge and these two factors explained 30.0%. Nurses' nursing performance on evidence-based hemodialysis nursing practice was 4.52 out of 5 points. The performace level was significantly related to total nurisng career and necessity of hemodialysis nursing education and these two factors explained 8.0%. Conclusion: A development of guideline and continuing education is necessary for improving knowledge and performance of evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice.

구조화된 객관적 임상시험을 이용한 간호대학생들의 실무능력평가 (Clinical Application of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations for Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a good way to evaluate clinical skills of nursing students. To do this, we need modules, evaluators, persons to run the examination, as well as models and standardized patient care if necessary. The main purpose of this study was to compare the effects of the OSCE method on nursing skills performance of students enrolled in a core skill lab of nursing courses. Method: Eight items were developed for the examination. Five minutes was allowed for each item. Two married women and third-year students played patient's roles. The participants were 2nd-year nursing students and the OSCE program was performed on December, 2008. Data analysis was done using SPSS WIN 12.0. Result: The evaluation score for BP check skill was 1.68 and hand washing skill was 1.87 by evaluators. Response of examinees to OSCE was favorable. Examinees did not express resistance for evaluation by OSCE run by SPs and students. Conclusion: The OSCE method is an effective tool for evaluating clinical nursing skills performance in student nurses. It is necessary to explore more efficient ways to develop OSCE cases in wider areas of nursing education. It is also recommended to replicate similar studies in nursing education.

대학병원 간호조직 균형 성과지표의 적합성 검증 (Balanced Scorecard for Performance Measurement of a Nursing Organization in a Korean Hospital)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a balanced scorecard (BSC) for performance measurement of a Korean hospital nursing organization and to evaluate the validity and reliability of performance measurement indicators. Method: Two hundred fifty-nine nurses in a Korean hospital participated in a survey questionnaire that included 29-item performance evaluation indicators developed by investigators of this study based on the Kaplan and Norton's BSC (1992). Cronbach's alpha was used to test the reliability of the BSC. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis with a structure equation model (SEM) was applied to assess the construct validity of the BSC. Result: Cronbach's alpha of 29 items was .948. Factor analysis of the BSC showed 5 principal components (eigen value>1.0) which explained 62.7% of the total variance, and it included a new one, community service. The SEM analysis results showed that 5 components were significant for the hospital BSC tool. Conclusion: High degree of reliability and validity of this BSC suggests that it may be used for performance measurements of a Korean hospital nursing organization. Future studies may consider including a balanced number of nurse managers and staff nurses in the study. Further data analysis on the relationships among factors is recommended.

수술실간호사 업무수행평가 도구개발 (Development of Performance Evaluation Tool for Operating Room Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a performance tool to evaluate operating room nurses. Method: In the first stage, 59 preliminary items were selected after two focus group meetings were carried out using as background a reference review. At this stage 59 items were developed. Next, the selected preliminary items were modified by an expert group of nurses with over 10 years experience, nurses holding doctoral degrees and professors in nursing. In the third and fourth stage, these items were analyzed by the expert group to determine validity and tested by hospital nurses with over 10 years experience to determine reliability Results: For the final tool, the 59 items, 47 items for the performance evaluation dimension and 12 items for the competence evaluation dimension were found to be valid and reliable. Cronbach's $\alpha$ was .9622, a promising alpha value for the total instrument. Conclusion: This tool is an efficient performance evaluation instrument providing meaningful feedback for operating room nurses.

간호대학생을 위한 임상수행 자기효능감 척도 개발 및 타당도, 신뢰도 검증 (Development and psychometric evaluation of Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students)

  • Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the importance of nurses' clinical performance, and accordingly, nursing educators have emphasized students' clinical practice and performance. This study developed a Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students and examined its psychometric properties. Methods: The authors reviewed instruments for selecting items for the scale in the areas of clinical skills, communication, infection control, safety, and nursing process. After preliminary items were selected, ten experts consisting of nursing professors and clinical nurses reviewed the items considering Korean clinical and educational situations. The data for the psychometric evaluation was collected from 257 nursing students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years and then analyzed. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the goodness of fit of this scale with five factors represented by 40 items was appropriate. The significant positive correlations with general self-efficacy indicated sound construct validity. The senior nursing students showed higher scores than others, as we expected. Cronbach's alpha was .94. Conclusion: The Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale is appropriate for measuring Korean nursing students' self-efficacy of clinical practice. It is expected to act as a good tool to measure the effects of clinical practice education.

간호조직내 인사고과제도운영에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Management of Performance Rating System in Nursing Organization)

  • A nurse is give much weight in the professions of hospital.The effective achievement of a goal of hospital organization needs to get nurses to contribute the structure positively through the rational personnel management of the nurses.The operation of performance rating system is necessary to improve because the nurses hold negative opinions about the resonable management of that system in most Korean hospitals.Therefore, the prupose of this research was to suggest an efficient method to solve the problem in connection with the management of nurses performance rating system.The results of the study are summarized as follows.1. As the performance rating implies the evaluation of employee's functional accomplishment and ability, and essential condition of the job was surveyed according to the job analysis of nursing activities and nurse position.That is to say, Nusrses' performances and capability is estimated in comparision with the condition of the job. 2. It is required adequacy for evaluation factors in performance rating.That is, $\circled1$ as for those who work in psychiatry or newborn baby room they should be appraied in terms of different factors from those applicable to whom work in a general staffs. $\circled2$ Evaluation factors should be concrete so that the quality and quantity of work and the potential ability of them can be correctly appraised. 3. In order to realize the object of perfamance rating system, the training on chief nurses are quite important. Also, careful practices and continuous supplementary training are required before the system is introduced.First of all, the appropriate evaluation can be mad by continuing to record the rating objects every day for the purpose of obtaining the objectivity of rating. 4. In course of transfering of the position and training, the induction of self-rating system and presentation of self-description is required to supplement functionally the performance rating system. 5. For the efficiency of nurses' performance rating system, the results of performance rating system must be reflected in promotion, allocation and training course, which makes the nurses have the motives and the organization accomplish the goal of modern nursing through its activation.

시뮬레이션 실습이 접목된 문제중심학습에 대한 간호학생의 PBL 학습요소별 인식과 학업성취도 (Learning Element Recognition and Academic Achievement of Nursing Student Receiving PBL with Simulation Education)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze how a nursing student recognizes PBL with simulation education and its relationship to academic achievement. Methods: The study objects were the students in C college who learn through PBL using simulator for 15 weeks(September 2007 to December 2007). Learning element recognition was developed by Cho(2002) and three key evaluations(performance, self-evaluation, and colleague evaluation) were designed by professors. Results: Learning element recognition ranged from 2.37 to 4.83 with the average at 3.94. For Learning element recognition, students who preferred discussion score 4.15. This was statistically more significant than those who do not. Students who preferred presentations show significantly higher score in colleague evaluation. For Learning element recognition and academic achievement, self-evaluation and colleague evaluation showed relationship to PBL learning element. Conclusion: There was definitely a relationship with PBL learning element and academic achievement after learning the PBL with simulation education.

Statistical Analysis of Clinical Nursing Competency and Self-Efficacy in Nursing Students

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical nursing competence and self-efficacy of 4th and 2nd semester nursing college students who completed most of the performance-based nursing education curriculum. It was attempted to develop competency evaluation and competency-based curriculum. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, $scheff{\bar{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and Stepwise multiple regression in SPSS WIN 24.0 program. The findings of this study were as follows. 1) The knowledge level of essential basic nursing skills received a score of 88.95. The overall average score of clinical performance was 3.15 out of 5. The mean score of self-efficacy was $4.14{\pm}0.57$ points on 6 points 2) Among the general characteristics of subjects, 'motivation of major selection' and 'satisfaction of practice time' differed in the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills, 'religion' and 'health status' differed in clinical performance ability and 'interpersonal relationship', 'motivation of major selection', 'major satisfaction', 'satisfaction of practice time', 'nursing satisfaction', 'desired working period' and 'average rating' differed in self-efficacy. 3) The self-efficacy showed a significant positive correlation with the clinical nursing competency including the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills and clinical performance ability. The nursing satisfaction, clinical performance ability, the knowledge of essential basic nursing skills, interpersonal relationship and average rating influenced significantly and explained 23.7% of the subjects' self-efficacy.

간호대학생을 위한 전자태아감시 자가학습 교재의 개발 및 적용효과 (Development and Effects of Supplementary Material about Electronic Fetal Monitoring for Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop supplementary material about the electronic fetal monitoring for nursing students, and to test the effects on electronic fetal monitoring related knowledge and confidence on nursing performance in delivery room. Methods: Totally 58 nursing students were recruited either experimental group (n=30) or a control group (n=28). A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed to test the effects on fetal monitoring related knowledge and confidence on nursing performance in delivery room. The supplementary material about the electronic fetal monitoring was developed based on Analysis, Design, Development, Implement and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. Fetal monitoring related knowledge and confidence on nursing performance in delivery room were self-reported by the scales that author developed. Data were collected at pre-test and after the 6-week intervention. Results: There was significant difference in confidence on nursing performance in delivery room between two groups after intervention. Conclusion: These findings suggest the importance of the supplementary material about the electronic fetal monitoring for nursing students to improve confidence on nursing performance in delivery room.

병원 간호조직의 성과평가지표에 관한 조사 연구 (A Survey for Performance Measurement Indicators of Nursing Organizations in Hospitals)

  • Objective: The objective was to extract a preliminary performance measurement indicators of nursing organizations in hospitals using the BSC(Balanced Score Card) developed by Kaplan and Norton, and to analyze the content validity and evaluation methods of the performance measurement indicators with actual nurses in the nursing organization as participants in the study. Methods: The preliminary performance measurement indicators was created through a literature review and had the content validity by a professional. This survey was sent via post to 316 nurse managers and nurses with more than 5 years of experience in seven secondary and tertiary hospitals in the Seoul Gyonggi district. The completed questionnaires were returned by mail. Results: Fourteen indicators for finances, 16 for customer services, 27 for internal business processes, and 13 for learning and growth were selected. Conclusion: Amidst a rapidly changing medical environment, a first step was taken towards developing a performance measurement from various perspectives for nursing organizations in hospitals from various perspectives, rather than just one or a past-oriented perspective. However, as the most important thing is to actually use these indicators, continuous interest in publicity and education must be developed.
