In this paper, we study the pattern formation to a general Degn-Harrison reaction model. We show Turing instability happens by analyzing the stability of the unique positive equilibrium with respect to the PDE model and the corresponding ODE model, which indicate the existence of the non-constant steady state solutions. We also show the existence periodic solutions of the PDE model and the ODE model by using Hopf bifurcation theory. Numerical simulations are presented to verify and illustrate the theoretical results.

A process mining is considered to support the discovery of business process for unstructured process model, and a process mining algorithm by using the associated rule and sequence pattern of data mining is developed to extract information about processes from event-log, and to discover process of alternative, concurrent and hidden activities. Some numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorithm.
The present study is undertaken to utilize the computer in pattern making of Jeugo-ris for women. The results are as follow: 1. Basic points which can be connected to depict basic pattern are represented with the numerical expreession and the curved lines consist of three types of arc. 2. The patterns of Jeugo-ris were automatically depicted by inputting the standard size(large, medium and small) and body measurements for bodice(bust girth, center back length, sleeve length). 3. This program includes the function of expressing the specific parts of patterns and of extending the patterns with or without standard lines.
Despite many combined research efforts outstanding needs exist to develop robust safety-estimation methods for large complex structures. This paper presents a practical damage identification scheme which can be applied to truss structures using only limited modal responses. firstly a theory of pattern recognition (PR) is described. Secondly existing damage-detection algorithms are outlined and a newly-derived algorithms for truss structures. Finally the feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated using numerical examples of plane truss structures.
Recent observations by Hinode show weakly-attenuated coronal loop oscillations in the presence of background flow (Ofman & Wang 2008, A&A, 482, L9). We study the vertical kink oscillations in solar coronal loops, considering field aligned flows inside the loops as well as surrounding the loops environment. The two dimensional numerical model of straight slab is used to explore the excitation and attenuation of the impulsively triggered fast magnetosonic standing kink waves. A full set of time dependent ideal magnetohydrodynamics equations is solved numerically taking into account the value of flow of the order of observed flows detected by SOT/Hinode. We find that relaxing the assumption of the limited flows within the loops enhances the damping rate of the fundamental mode of the standing kink waves by 2 - 3 % as compared to flow pattern which is basically localized within the loops. We further notice that extending the flow pattern beyond the loop thickness also enhances the strength of the shock associated with slow magnetoacoustic waves, recognized as an addition feature detected in the numerical simulation. The wider out-flow pattern destroys the oscillation patterns early as compared to narrower flow pattern, in other words we can say that it affects the durability of the oscillation. However, for the typical coronal loops parameters we find that the observed durability periods of the SOT/Hinode observation can be achieved with an out-flow Gaussian patterns for which half-width is not greater than factor 2.0 of the loop-half-width. explain a possible relation between electric current structure and sigmoid observed in a preflare phase.
Laboratory model blast and in-situ rock blast tests were conducted to determine blast-induced stress wave propagation characteristics under different explosive types, different loading conditions and different mediums. Dynamic numerical approaches were conducted under the same conditions as experimental tests. Stress magnitudes at mid-point between two blast holes which were detonated simultaneously increased up to two times those of single hole detonation. The rise time of maximum stress in a decoupled charge condition was delayed two times that of a fully charged condition. Dynamic numerical analysis showed almost similar results to blast test results, which verifies the effectiveness of numerical approaches fur optimizing the tunnel blast design. Dynamic numerical analysis was executed to evaluate rock behavior and damage of the contour hole, the sloping hole adjacent to the contour hole in the road tunnel blasting pattern. The rock damage zone of the sloping hole from the numerical analysis was larger than that of the contour hole. Damage in the sloping hole can be reduced by using lower density explosive, by applying decoupled charge, or by increasing distance between the sloping hole and the contour hole.

Investigating Backward-Facing Step(BFS) flow is important in that it is a representative case for separation flows in various engineering flow systems. There have been a wide range of experimental, theoretical, and numerical studies to investigate the flow characteristics over BFS, such as flow separation, reattachment length and recirculation zone. However, most of such previous studies were concentrated only on the perpendicular step angle. In this study, several numerical investigations on the flow pattern over BFS with various step angles (10° ~ 90°) and expansion ratios (1.48, 2 and 3.27) under different Reynolds numbers (5000 ~ 64000) were carried out, mainly focused on the reattachment length. The numerical simulations were performed using an open source 3D CFD software, OpenFOAM, in which the velocity profiles and turbulence intensities are calculated by RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation) and 3D LES (Large Eddy Simulation) turbulence models. Overall, it shows a good agreement between simulations and the experimental data by Ruck and Makiola (1993). In comparison with the results obtained from RANS and 3D LES, it was shown that 3D LES model can capture much better and more details on the velocity profiles, turbulence intensities, and reattachment length behind the step for relatively low Reynolds number(Re < 11000) cases. However, the simulation results by both of RANS and 3D LES showed very good agreement with the experimental data for the high Reynolds number cases(Re > 11000). For Re > 11000, the reattachment length is no longer dependent on the Reynolds number, and it tends to be nearly constant for the step angles larger than 30°.) Based on the calibrated and validated numerical simulations, several additional numerical simulations were also conducted with higher Reynolds number and another expansion ratio which were not considered in the experiments by Ruck and Makiola (1993).
This paper proposes a continuous hitting by a flexible link hammer. This hammer system is used only the first mode of vibration for a desired hitting. The input of the hammer driver for a continuous hitting is obtained from numerical solutions of two sets of non-linear simultaneous equations which satisfy the hitting conditions. Being too complicated, these numerical calculations are not useful for online processing. Therefore, the multi-layered neural networks are applied to the generation of the input patterns of the hammer driver. The trained network outputs agree well to the numerical solutions.

Numerical simulations are performed of a long flexible cylinder undergoing vortex-induced vibration at a Reynolds number of 500. The cylinder is pinned at both ends, having an aspect ratio of 100 (cylinder length to cylinder diameter) and a mass ratio of 4.2 (structural mass to displaced fluid mass). Temporal and spatial information on the cross-flow (CF) and in-line (IL) vibrations is extracted. High modal vibrations up to the $6^{th}$ in the CF direction and the $11^{th}$ in the IL direction are observed. Both the CF and IL vibrations feature a multi-mode mixed pattern. Mode competition is observed. The $2^{nd}$ mode with a low frequency dominates the IL vibration and its existence is attributed to a wave group propagating back and forth along the span. Distributions of fluid force coefficients are correlated to those of the CF and IL vibrations along the span. Histograms of the x'-y motion phase difference are evaluated from the total simulation time and a complete vibration cycle representing the standing or travelling wave pattern. Correlations between the phase difference and the vibrations are discussed. Vortex structures behind the cylinder show an interwoven near-wake pattern when the standing wave pattern dominates, but an oblique near-wake pattern when the travelling wave pattern prevails.
The new numerical procedure for hydroplaning has been developed by considering the following three important factors; fluid/structure interaction, tire rolling, and practical tread pattern. The tire was analyzed by FEM with Lagrangian formulation and the fluid is analyzed by FVM with Eulerian formulation. Since the tire and the fluid are modeled separately and their coupling is automatically computed by the coupling element, the fluid/structure interaction of the complex geometry such as the tire with the tread pattern can be analyzed practically. We verified the predictability of the hydroplaning simulation in the different parameters such as the water flow, the velocity dependence of hydroplaning, and the effect of the tread pattern on hydroplaning. In order to predict the streamline in the contact patch, the procedure of the global-local analysis was developed. Since the streamline could be predicted by this technology, we could develop the new pattern in a short period based on the principle; "make the stream line smooth".
