  • In this study, a revegetation reinforced earth retaining wall to strengthen the strength than construction and make up for the weakness; eco-friendly part, of the existing facilities is new construction method. The special attention is that Eco-Metal reinforced retaining wall is not use concret. Before test construction on the scene, the stability of Eco-Metal reinforced retaining wall was checked by an experiment with a model and numerical analysis. The result of an experiment with a model was that the loaded tensile stress 40.2KN/m was more than long-term design tensile strength 29.4KN/m at Geogrid and a safety factor of numerical analysis was 1.14.

  • In this study a drift prediction model based on fluid dynamics theory is introduced. The essential effects of environmental loads and target characteristics are taken into account from a fluid dynamics point of view. The governing equations of motion are derived from Newton's law of dynamics. In the mathematical formulation only three degrees of freedom(surge, sway, yaw) of the drifting object are assumed and the environmental loads considered are the forces and moments by wind and current. A computer algorithm for this model is implemented to obtain the numerical result in the time domain. The preliminary tests for model verification are conducted and the results are compared with the field experiment data as well as leeway formula suggested from the field test data.

  • A numerical study was carried out to investigate combustion phenomena in a model Scramjet engine, which had been experimentally studied at the University of Tokyo using a high-enthalpy supersonic wind tunnel. The main airflow was Mach number 2.0 and the total temperature of hot flow was 1800K. Equivalence ratio was set to be 0.26 which is higher than that of experiment to investigate the effect of strong precombustion shock. The results showed that self-ignition occurred at the rear bottom wall of the combustor and combined with the shear layer flame between fuel jet and main airflow. Then, precombustion shock was generated at the step location and reversely enhanced the mixing and combustion process behind the shock. Due to the high equivalence ratio, the precombustion shock moved upstream of the step compared with that of experiment.

  • The object of this study is to develop the computer program to predict the transmission loss of a perforated tube muffler with mean flow, and to investigate the influence of porosity and mean flow on the performance of the muffler. The numerical model is made by dividing the muffler into small segments and estimating the transfer matrices for each segment. The computer program is developed for the calculation of the transmission loss of a through-or cross-flow perforated muffler. The experiment is performed for the measurement of the transmission loss and/or the pressure drop for various porosity and flow velocity. From the comparison between computation and experiment, is known that the numerical model agrees well with the experimental result. The effect of porosity and flow velocity on the acoustic performance and the flow resistance of a muffler is presented.

  • The numerical analysis and the experiment was performed to investigate the influences of shear connector on shear resistance capability. The numerical analysis's results should that the H/B ratio of shear key is more effective than angle of shear key against shear strength and shear behavior, and it is more desirable to use a half of the H/B ratio of shear key. The specimen was made with same condition as AASHTO recommended. There model tests were performed under various form of shear key, number, arrangement reinforcement and condition using epoxy. As a result of the experiment, there is little difference(or there is no difference) between the case of using epoxy on shear connector and the unused case.

  • An experimental model and a conceptual model are investigated in this paper with both shock tube experiment and numerical technique. The shock-vortex interaction generated by this model is visualized with various methods: holographic interferometry, shodowgraphy, and numerical computation. In terms of shock dynamics, there are two meaningful physics in the present problem. They are reflective wave from the slip layer at the vortex edge and transmitted shock penetrating the vortex core. The discussion in this study is mainly focused on the two kinds of waves contributing to the quadrupolar pressure distribution around the vortex center during the interaction.

  • Korea's first Naro-Science small class satellite was launched by Naro launcher in 2013. The structure of the satellite is mostly composed of aluminum honeycomb and frame. The honeycomb structure is homogenized with asymptotic homogenization method and its mechanical properties were used for the numerical analysis. There have been some difficulties to modeling the honeycomb sandwich panels for FEA. In the present study, the mechanical characteristics of the sandwich panel composite were numerically computed and used for the simulation. This methodology makes it easy to overcome the weakness of modeling of complicated sandwich panels. Both an experiment of vibration test and numerical analyses were conducted simultaneously. The analysis results from the current homogenization were compared with that of experiment. It shows a good agreement on the dynamic responses and certified the reliability of the present methodology when manipulate sandwich panel structure.

  • A water hammer mostly comes out when a valve fixed at the downstream end of the pipe-line system is rapidly closed or opened. A simple phenomenon of water hammer is often caused around us, and this phenomenon imperils the pipe systems occasionally. In this paper, we confirmed the phenomenon of water hammer by an experiment and forecasted a change of pressure in the pipe-line system by a numerical method. Also a vibration response, which is caused by water hammer, of the pipe-line system confirmed by an experiment and analyzed by a numerical method.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a mathematical model of welding current for the P-GMAW by modifying the well known GMAW model. Welding power circuit is simply modeled as a RL electric circuit and solved as an ODE equation. The welding current depends on the joint shape, molten pool and welding parameters. To compare the molten pool effect to the welding current, CFD numerical simulation technique was adopted. Welding experiment is also conducted with the same welding parameters as used in numerical simulations to verify the proposed welding current model. The current model which is considered molten pool shape, is more fit to experiment result.
