In this paper, we propose a new active queue management (AQM) scheme by utilizing the predictability of the Internet traffic. The proposed scheme predicts future traffic input rate by using the auto-regressive (AR) time series model and determines the future congestion level by comparing the predicted input rate with the service rate. If the congestion is expected, the packet drop probability is dynamically adjusted to avoid the anticipated congestion level. Unlike the previous AQM schemes which use the queue length variation as the congestion measure, the proposed scheme uses the variation of the traffic input rate as the congestion measure. By predicting the network congestion level, the proposed scheme can adapt more rapidly to the changing network condition and stabilize the average queue length and its variation even if the traffic input level varies widely. Through ns-2 simulation study in varying network environments, we compare the performance among RED, Adaptive RED (ARED), REM, Predicted AQM (PAQM) and the proposed scheme in terms of average queue length and packet drop rate, and show that the proposed scheme is more adaptive to the varying network conditions and has shorter response time.

In this paper, an innovative low-power SRAM based on 4-transistor latch cell is described. The memory cells are composed of two cross-coupled inverters without access transistors. The sources of PMOS transistors are connected to bitlines while the sources of NMOS transistors are connected to wordlines. They are accessed by totally new read and write method which results in low operating power dissipation in the nature. Moreover, the design reduces the leakage current in the memory cells. The proposed SRAM has been demonstrated through 16-kbit test chip fabricated in a 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS process. It shows 17.5 ns access at 1.8-V supply while consuming dynamic power of $87.6\;{\mu}W/MHz$ (for read cycle) and $70.2\;{\mu}W/MHz$ (for write cycle). Compared with those of the conventional 6-transistor SRAM, it exhibits the power reduction of 30 % (read) and 42 % (write) respectively. Silicon measurement also confirms that the proposed SRAM achieves nearly 64 % reduction in the total standby power dissipation. This novel SRAM might be effective in realizing low-power embedded memory in future mobile applications.
The most popular world wide web traffic in the Internet uses TCP as the transport layer protocol. Since TCP utilizes the single path, it can not communicate with the correspondent host during the link-down. On the other hand, SCTP can still communicate with the other SCTP entity by using alternate path even while the primary path is down. Most of previous studies have conducted the performance comparison research between TCP and SCTP by using typical file transfer. Since web traffic with self-similarity is characterized by the packet inter-arrival times and shape parameter affecting the size of web file in the Pareto distribution, it is necessary to perform the experiments considering these parameters. This paper aims to compare the throughput between TCP and SCTP while varying parameters reflecting the web traffic characteristics in link-down environment. Experimental results for web traffic using NS-2 simulator show that the throughput of SCTP using multi-homing is better than that of TCP. Simulation also shows that TCP is more affected than SCTP by mean inter-arrival and shape parameters with regard to the web traffic. These results can be applied to estimate the performance variation of web traffic due to the duration of link-down.

The results analyzed by using binary interaction method were 1. For the ideal condition for growth, the plant height was found by $75%\;NO_3^-+25%\;SO_4^{--}$ in NS group and $68.5%\;No_3^-+31.5%\;PO_4^{---}$ in NPgroup. The number of node was showed by $71%\;NO_3^-+29%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $75%\;NO_3^-+25%\;PO_4^{---}$. 2. The ideal condition for the maximum yield was by $77.5%\;No_3^-+22.5%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $72.5%\;NO_3^-+27.5%\;PO_4^{---}$. For matured fruit yield, $77%\;NO_3^-+23%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $73.5%\;NO_3^-+26.5%\;PO_4^{---}$ was found ideal. 3. There were no significant differences in the amount of free sugars and capsaicin between the treatments.
In ad hoc networks, the limited battery capacity of nodes affects a lifetime of network Recently, a large variety of power-aware routing protocols have been proposed to improve an energy efficiency of ad hoc networks. Existing power-aware routing protocols basically consider the residual battery capacity and transmission power of nodes in route discovery process. This paper proposes a new power-aware routing protocol, TDPR(Traffic load & lifetime Deviation based Power-aware Routing protocol), that does not only consider residual battery capacity and transmission power, but also the traffic load of nodes and deviation among the lifetimes of nodes. It helps to extend the entire lifetime of network and to achieve load balancing. Simulations using ns-2[14] show the performance of the proposed routing protocol in terms of the load balancing of the entire network, the consumed energy capacity of nodes, and an path's reliability TDPR has maximum 72% dead nodes less than AODV[4], and maximum 58% dead nodes less than PSR[9]. And TDPR consumes residual energy capacity maximum 29% less than AODV, maximum 15% less than PSR. Error messages are sent maximum 38% less than PSR, and maximum 41% less than AODV.

The various output characteristics of a pulsed Ti:sapphire laser oscillator with a plane-parallel resonator, pumped longitudinally by the second harmonic wave of a Nd:YAG laser, and the output of a Ti:sapphire laser amplifier operated along the single path of the oscillator beam were investigated and analyzed. In the case of the oscillator, we measured the spectrum, the pulse buildup time, the temporal duration time of the pulse, and the output energy according to the variation of the pumping energy, resonator length, and the reflectance of the output coupler. And, in the case of the amplifier, we investigated and analyzed the output energy of the amplifier as a function of the time difference between the two pump beams of the oscillator and the amplifier, the pumping energy of the oscillator, and the pumping energy of the amplifier When pump energies of both the oscillator and the amplifier were 18 mJ/pulse, we could find that the output energy of the amplifier increased linearly and gradually up to the time difference of 35 ns. Finally, we determined that the slope efficiencies of the oscillator and the amplifier were 23.5 % and 11.6 %, respectively.

In order to improve spectrum sensitivity of photodiode for detection of the laser at 850 nm ~ 1000 nm of near-infrared wavelength band, this study has produced silicon-based fast film PIN photodiode and analyzed electrical and optical properties. The manufactured device is packaged in TO-18 type. The electrical properties of the dark currents both Anode 1 and Anode 2 have valued of approximately 0.055 nA for 5 V reverse bias, while the capacitance showed 19.5 pF at frequency range of 1 kHz and about 19.8 pF at the range of 200 kHz for 0 V. In addition, the rising time of output signal was verified to have fast response time of about 30 ns for 10 V. For the optical properties, the best spectrum sensitivity was 0.66 A/W for 880 nm, while it was relatively excellent value of 0.45 A/W for 1,000 nm.

In this paper, we propose a coding packet group-based ARQ scheme (rNC) for file delivery in wireless networks. rNC assumes multiple network coding points between the source and the destination. Each network coding point gathers and codes a group of packets according to the queue polling system. A queue polling system makes a few or several packets available for coding in a queue while polling the other queues in the system. Thus, we assuem a queue polling system at each network coding point. We call this group of packets as coded packet group. Each coding point acknowledges the reception of every code packet group to its previous coding point for reliable delivery. Thus, the intermediate coding points including the source can release its buffer before the packet is delivered to the destination. To guarantee the ultimate file delivery to the destination, the destination sends acknowledgement to the sender. We evaluate our proposed scheme using ns-2 and compare the performance with CodeCast. The results show that rNC works better than CodeCast in terms of packet delivery ratio and control overhead in unreliable wireless networks.

The RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) and the WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) have technical similarities and mutual effects, they have been recognized to be studied separately, and sufficient studies have not been conducted on the technical integration of the RFID and the WSN. Therefore, EPC global which realized the issue proposed the EPC(Electronic Produce Code) Sensor Network to efficiently integrate and interoperate the RFID and WSN technologies based on the international standard EPC global network. The proposed EPC Sensor Network technology uses the Complex Event Processing method in the middleware to integrate data occurring through the RFID and the WSN in a single environment and to interoperate the events based on the EPC global network. However, as the EPC Sensor Network technology continuously performs its operation even in the case that the minimum conditions are not to be met to find complex events in the middleware, its operation cost rises. Therefore, to address the problems of the existing system, we defined the minimum conditions of the complex events to detect unnecessary complex events in the middleware, and proposed an algorithm that can extract complex events only when the minimum conditions are to be met. To examine the minimum conditions, a index and a query index are used to extract complex events. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods, In the case of the method of extracting complex events based on a bitmap index, we used the existing extraction method and NS2 simulation to evaluate its performance and thus to show its good performance in terms of the number of operation and the processing time for the complex events.

In wireless mesh networks (WMNs), the end-to-end throughput of a flow decreases drastically according to the traversed number of hops due to interference among different hops of the same flow in addition to interference between hops of different flows with different paths. This paper proposes a distributed multi-channel assignment scheme based on hops (DMASH) to improve the performance of a static WMN. The proposed DMASH is a novel distributed multi-channel assignment scheme based on hops to enhance the end-to-end throughput by reducing interference between channels when transmitting packets in the IEEE 802.11 based multi-interface environments. The DMASH assigns a channel group to each hop, which has no interference between adjacent hops from a gateway in channel assignment phase, then each node selects its channel randomly among the channel group. Since the DMASH is a distributed scheme with unmanaged and auto-configuration of channel assignment, it has a less overhead and implementation complexity in algorithm than centralized multi-channel assignment schemes. Simulation results using the NS-2 showed that the DMASH could improve remarkably the total network throughput in multi-hop environments, comparing with a random channel assignment scheme.
