액상분사식 LPG 연료공급방식의 아이싱현상에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Icing Phenomenon in Liquid Phase LPG Injection System)

  • The liquid phase LPG injection (LPLI) system is considered as one of the next generation fuel supply systems for LPG, vehicles, since it can accomplish the higher power, higher efficiency, and lower emission characteristics than the existing mixer type fuel supply system. However, during the injection of liquid LPG fuel into the inlet duct of an engine, a large quantity of heat is extracted due to evaporation of fuel. A problem is that the moisture in the air freezes around the outlet of a nozzle, which is called icing Phenomenon. It may cause damage to the outlet nozzle of an injector. The frozen ice deposit detached from the nozzle also may cause a considerable damage to the inlet valve or valve seat. In this work, the experimental investigation of the icing phenomenon was carried out. The results showed that the icing phenomenon and process were mainly affected by humidity of inlet air instead of the air temperature in the inlet duct. Also, it was observed that the icing occurs first in the inlet of a nozzle, and grows considerably at the upper part of the nozzle inlet and the opposite side of the nozzle entrance. An LPG fuel, mainly consisting of butane, has lower latent heat of vaporization than that of propane, which is an advantage in controlling the icing phenomenon.

배열회수보일러 기수분리기의 응력해석 및 평가 (Stress Analysis and Evaluation of Steam Separator of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG))

  • Stress of a steam separator, equipment of the high-pressure (HP) evaporator for a HRSG, was analyzed and evaluated according to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Division 2. First, from the analysis results of the piping system model of the HP evaporator, reaction forces of the riser tubes connected to the steam separator, i.e., nozzle loads, were derived. Next, a finite element model of the steam separator was constructed and analyzed for the design pressure and the nozzle loads. The results show that the maximum stress occurred at the bore of the riser nozzle. The primary membrane stresses at the shell and nozzle were found to be less than the allowable stress. Next, the steam separator was analyzed for the steady-state operating conditions of operating pressure, operating temperature, and nozzle loads. The maximum stress occurred at the bore of the riser nozzle. The primary plus secondary membrane plus bending stress at the shell and nozzle was found to be less than the allowable stress.

  • 실험실 규모의 진공 증발 수분 제거 시스템을 이용하여, 압력, 윤활유의 온도, 초기 수분농도 및 윤활유 분사 노즐의 형태 등 폐윤활유 속에 포함된 수분 제거 성능에 영향을 미치는 각각의 운전 변수들에 대한 실험적인 연구를 수행하였다. 연구의 결과 압력 및 폐윤활유 온도의 증가는 수분 제거 성능에 매우 중요한 변수임을 확인하였으며, 또한 진공 증발실로 폐윤활유를 분사하기 위한 노즐의 형태는 다공성 매질의 노즐 형상인 경우가 가장 우수한 수분 증발 성능을 나타내었다.

기-액 기둥에서 기포유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bubble Flow in the Gas-Liquid Plume)

  • The characteristics of upward bubble flow were experimentally investigated in a liquid bath. In the present study, a thermal-infrared camera and high speed CCO camera were used to measure their temperature and local rising velocity, respectively. Heat transfer from bubble surface to water is largely completed within z=10mm from the nozzle, and then the temperature of bubble surface reaches that of water rapidly. The rising velocity of bubble was calculated for two different experimental conditions: 1) bubble flow without kinetic energy 2) with kinetic energy. Bubble flow without kinetic energy starts to undergo the effect of inertia force 10cm away from the nozzle. Whereas, kinetic energy is dominant before 30 cm away from the nozzle in bubble flow, but after this point, kinetic energy and inertial force are applied on bubble flow at the same time.

  • Direct safety injection into the reactor vessel downcomer annulus(DVI) is a fundamental feature of the KNGR(Korean Next Generation Reactor) four-train safety injection system. The numerical analysis of thermal mixing of ECC(Emergency Core Cooling) water through DVI with the water in the RVDC(Reactor Vessel Downcomer) annulus has been performed, in order to study the impact of nozzle location on the pressurized thermal shock and safety analysis. The results of this study show that the thermal mixing due to the natural circulation induced by the limiting accident conditions is sufficient to prevent temperature in the RVDC from dropping to the level of concern for PTS. When the DVI nozzle is located right above the cold leg, the temperature distribution at the outlet of flow field is most uniform. The tool used for numerical analysis is CFDS-FLOW3D.

  • Plume flow-fields of aircraft nozzles are numerically investigated at various flight conditions for infrared signature analysis. A mission profile of subsonic unmanned combat aerial vehicle is considered for the requirement of each mission, associated engine and nozzles are selected through a performance analysis. Numerical results of nozzle plume flow-fields using a CFD code are analyzed in terms of thrust, maximum temperature. It is shown that maximum temperature increase for lower altitude and higher Mach number.

  • Aerothermodynamic flowfields of aircraft engine nozzles are computationally investigated at various flight conditions for infrared signature analysis. A mission profile of subsonic unmanned combat aerial vehicle is considered for the case study and associated engine and nozzles are selected through a performance analysis. Computational results of nozzle and plume flowfields using a density-based CFD code are analyzed in terms of thrust, maximum temperature, length and optical thickness of plume. It is shown that maximum temperature, length, and optical thickness of nozzle plume increase for lower altitude and higher Mach number.

인젝터 압력이 단공노즐 감압비등 분무에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Injection Pressure on the Flash Boiling Spray from Simple Orifice Nozzle)

  • Flash boiling occurs in a couple of modern engineering systems and understanding its mechanism is important. In this experimental study, discharge coefficient of flash boiling spray from simple orifice nozzle was measured, and backlight imaging was acquired at injection pressure to 6.0 bar and temperature to 163℃ for the purpose. Pressurized water by pump was used for working fluid and was heated by electric heater and ejected through simple orifice nozzle diameter of 0.5 mm. High speed camera with long distance microscope was used for backlight imaging in two FoV having magnification of 3.3 and 0.64. The decrease of discharge coefficient according to degree of superheating and evolution of flash boiling spray imaged at various pressure and temperature were explained by the pressure field inside the injector.

  • The velocity and temperature profiles in the cabin of the automobile affect greatly to the comfort of the passenger. In this paper, the three dimensional flow and temperature analysis in the cabin of the automobile which is geometrically complicated was performed to investigate and predict the velocity and temperature profile. The three dimensional Navier-Stokes code used in this case was validated by performing of a 1/5 experimental scale model vehicle flow anal)rsis successfully. The temperature field of cavity was analyzed for Energy-equation code validation. The comparison of the results are made with the polished computational data and give a coincided one.
