  • The scale is removed from the strip by high pressure hydraulic descaling at the FSB (Finishing Scale Breaker). Recently, the spray height of nozzle has a trend to be shorter for the purpose of increasing the impact pressure by the high pressure water jet. Here, the nozzle intervals should be decided after considering the impact pressure and the temperature distribution on the strip. In other words, the minimum of impact pressure at the overlap of spray influences the surface grade of the strip due to scale and the overlap distance of the spray affects the temperature variation in the direction of the width of strip. In the present study, the impact pressure of the high pressure water jet is measured by the hydraulic descaling system and calculated with regard to the lead angle of 15$^{\circ}$ and the offset angle of 15$^{\circ}$, and then the temperature distribution and the temperature variation are calculated at the overlap distances of 0 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm, respectively. The method of setting nozzle intervals is shown by utilizing these results.

  • Thermal shock is a physical phenomenon that occurs in the condition of the exposure of a rapidly large temperature and pressure change of in the quenching condition of material. The rocket nozzle is exposed to high temperature combustion gas, it may have failure and erosion deformation. So, it is important to select a suitable material having excellent thermal shock properties and evaluate these materials in rocket design. In this study, the temperature gradient and crack initiation of rocket nozzle material is investigated using by FEM under thermal shock condition. This is very important information in the design process of thermal structure.

  • The paper presents the method and apparatus for conformal photoresist spray coating on the 3D structured substrate. The system consists of a high-temperature-rotational chuck, ultrasonic spray nozzle module, angle control module and nozzle moving module. The coating uniformity is acquired by controlling the moving speed of the ultrasonic spray nozzle across the substrate which is rotated constantly. To coat the photoresist conformally the spray angle of the nozzle and the temperature of the substrate are controlled during spray coating. The rotational chuck can be heated up by hot air or $N_2$. The photoresist (AZ1512) has been coated on the 3D structured wafer by spray coating system and the characteristics have been evaluated.

  • In this study, we investigate the non-reacting and reacting performance of single nozzle for post H class gas turbine by using commercial CFD tool, CONVERGE, based on adaptive mesh refinement. By varying swirl number and mixing length of base nozzle design. Through the numerical analysis, basic phenomena can be well described with respect to fuel concentration for non-reacting flow, temperature distribution, velocity vector and combustion outlet temperature distribution for reacting flow. However, there are rooms for improvements in model accuracy by comparing test results. Comparison between numerical analysis are planning for further study.

  • In this paper, physical phenomena which are related to the high temperature and high pressure arc plasma generated during the fault current interruption by SF6 gas circuit breakers are reviewed. In particular, in order to analyze nozzle ablation induced by the heats transferred to the surface of the poly-tetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) nozzle through arc radiation, a governing equation for the calculation of PTFE concentration is added to the governing equations for SF6 arc Plasma analysis. The proposed method is applied to the steady state analysis of $SF_6$ arc plasma generated by direct current taking account of the nozzle ablation and the results are presented.

  • Self-blast circuit breakers utilize the energy dissipated by the arc itself to create the required conditions for arc quenching during the current zero. During the arcing period, high pressure, temperature and radiation of the arc could burn in pure SF6 gas and PTFE nozzle. Ablated nozzle shape and $SF_6$-PTFE mixture vapor affect the performance of an self-blast circuit breaker. After a number of tests, nozzle in circuit breaker is disassembled, a section of ablated nozzle is investigated precisely. Using computational fluid dynamics, the conservation equation for the gas and temperature, velocity and electric fields within breaker is solved. Before applying a section model, developed program is verified with experimental data. Performance of ablated nozzle shape is compared with original model through analysis program.

  • This work is experimental study about a nozzle part in the aerodynamic igniter using only compressible gas. In study, constructions of the aerodynamic igniter using a supersonic nozzle and an aerospike nozzle have been introduced, and experimental results(mainly max. heating temperature characteristics) have been presented. Using of the supersonic nozzle leads to faster and higher temperature in same mass flow, and the aerospike nozzle works in wide variable range of pressure.

  • The probability density functions (PDF) of temperature were measured by coherent anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) in flames of gas turbine combustor sector rig of an aero-engine. The combustor was operated at simulated ground idle conditions with standard kerosene fuel. Temperature PDFs had been measured near fuel nozzle with change of rotation of a swirler and existence of a prefilmer. The characteristic features of temperature PDFs showed the variation of combustion configurations at four experimental conditions. Without a prefilmer, large recirculation of high temperature gas was expected in the co-flow condition and un vaporized fuel fragments were detected in the counter-flow condition. With a prefilmer, the enhanced mixing increased combustion intensity near fuel nozzle in the counter-flow condition and the flame was attached far from the fuel nozzle in the co-flow condition.

  • The water-jet technique started by Bridgman can cut metal and alloys without harmful gas and fume. However, while this technique is convenient to cut metals and alloys, in the case of coated pipe, water jet induces the degradation of coatings on the pipes, and may facilitate structural failure, leakage, and loss of products. While there are many reports on the effect of water jet on cut metals and the damage of metallic materials, research on the effect of water impingement on the epoxy coatings has been little studied. In this work, we therefore control the velocity of water jet, distance between nozzle and specimen, and water temperature, and discuss the effect of water impingement on the epoxy coatings. Increasing water velocity and water temperature and reducing nozzle distance increased the degradation rates of three epoxy coatings were increased. Among three test parameters - water velocity, nozzle distance and water temperature, water temperature was relatively effective to increase the degradation rate of epoxy coatings.

  • This study shows the correlation between $NO_x$ emission in the exhaust gas and various operation factors of dual fuel engine for Co-generation system. General tendency was shown that the thermal efficiency was lowered by the change of operation factors. However these were not confirmed on this experiment. Increasing T4 temperature (exhaust gas temperature at turbo-charger inlet) reduces $NO_x$ emission rate. The higher T4 temperature requires lower excess air as the excess air ratio is controlled by T4 temperature on gas mode operation. Another tendency was that $NO_x$ emission rate is reduced in case of increasing boost air temperature, quantity of pilot oil or bypassing flue gas through the exhaust gas boiler. The diameter of the fuel injection nozzle was changed smaller than design value and the injection timing was readjusted. Thus $NO_x$ emission rate could be reduced as retarding injection timing and changing hole diameter of fuel injection nozzle, however maxium engine out-put was decreased by changing fuel nozzle on the diesel mode operation.
