Spraying of nozzles and design of tractor-attached boom sprayers have been studied for analysis of liquid spraying features. The following conclusions have been drawn. At all pressures, twin flat spray tips was finer than flat spray tips. A fine spray with VMD of 101 to 200 appeared at 1.5MPa. So, it was selected as the boom sprayer nozzle. In spraying uniformity analysis, Type B was proven to have more uniformity than Type A and Type C at 52.0 cm attached distance. Type A and Type C were proven to have more uniformity than Type B at 58.5 cm attached distance. It is concluded that these results reflect atomizing characteristics of nozzles during pest control with tractor-attached boom sprayer. Therefore, optimum setting will be putting Type C with 58.5 cm distance.
Objectives: Many types of dust collector are used for industrial ventilation, with the most common types being the cylinder bag filter system, rectangular bag filter system and cylinder type cartridge filter system. The cylinder type cartridge bag filter, which has more filtering area than other types of bag filter, can increase the pulse time and extend the useful life of the filter. This can save operational costs and installation area. Materials: This study used cylinder type cartridge bag filter equipment and tested the impact of vibration level and filter pressure with different pulse jet cleaning conditions. The final, cleaning efficiency was calculated through input dust mass and cleaning dust mass Conclusions: Two optimum cleaning condition groups were found. The first condition group was $3kgf/cm^2$ pulse pressure, 15 cm pulse distance, 0.2 s pulse time with an H-10 type nozzle. The second condition group was $3kgf/cm^2$ pulse pressure, 15 cm pulse distance, 0.3 s pulse time with an H-10 type nozzle.
The effects of concave hemispherical surface with inclined angle on the local heat transfer from a turbulent round jet impinging were experimentally investigated using transient liquid crystal method. This method suddenly exposes a preheated wall to an impinging jet and then the video system records the response of liquid crystals for the measurement of the surface temperature. The Reynolds numbers were used 11000, 23000 and 50000, nozzle-to-surface distance ratio from 2 to 10 and the surface angles $\alpha=0^{\circ},\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}\;and\;40^{\circ}$. Correlations of the stagnation point Nusselt number according to Reynolds number, jet-to-surface distance ratio and dimensionless surface angle are investigated. In the stagnation point, in term of $Re^n$, n ranges from 0.43 in case of $2{\leq}L/d\leq6$ to 0.45 in case of $6. The maximum Nusselt number occurs in the direction of upstream. The displacement of the maximum Nusselt number from the stagnation point increases with increasing surface angle or decreasing nozzle-to-surface distance. The maximum displacement is about 0.7 times of the jet nozzle diameter.
The turbulent heat transfer from a round oblique impinging jet on a concave surface were experimentally investigated. The transient measurement method using liquid crystal was used in this study. In this measurement, a preheated wall was suddenly exposed to an impinging jet while recording the response of liquid crystals to measure surface temperature. The Reynolds numbers were 11000, 23000 and 50000, nozzle-to-surface distance ratio was from 2 to 10 and the surface angles were a =$0^{\circ}\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}and\;40^{\circ}$. Correlations of the stagnation point Nusselt numbers with Reynolds number, jet-to-surface distance ratio and dimensionless surface angle, which account for the surface inclined angle, are presented. The maximum Nusselt numbers, in this experiment, occurred in the direction of upstream. The displacement of the maximum Nusselt number from the stagnation point increases with increasing surface angle or decreasing nozzle-to-surface distance. In this experiment, the maximum displacement is about 0.7 times of the jet nozzle diameter when surface curvature, D/d is 10.
The objectives of this study was to investigate the spray characteristics of single spray and twin spray in the overlap region such as mean axial velocity, mean radial velocity, mean droplet size and probability density function of droplet size. A phase doppler anemometer was used as the measurement system for droplet size and velocity. In case of single spray, injection pressure was varied from 0.2MPa to 0.7MPa. Mean axial velocity, mean radial velocity and droplet size were decreased as the distance below nozzle tip was increased. In case of twin spray, the spray characteristics were measured by varying the distance between two nozzles from 127mm to 155mm. In the overlap region, the boundary of the overlap region was determined by obtaining the distribution of mean axial and radial velocity. Droplet size was increased as the distance from nozzle tip was increased. It was found that the distribution of droplet size for twin spray in the overlap region was different to single spray.
Dielectric barrier discharge plasma is a new technique in water pollutant degradation, which that is characterized by the production of chemically active species such as hydroxyl radicals, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, etc. If dissolving of plasma gas generated in the plasma reaction has increased, it is possible to increase the contaminant removal capacity. In this study, the improvement on the dissolving performance of plasma gas was evaluated by the indirect method measuring the overall oxygen transfer coefficient. Experiments were conducted to examine the effects of nozzle type, distance from water surface, air supply rate and liquid circulation rate. The experimental results showed that the $K_{La}$ value of the 3-prong nozzle is 2.67 times higher than the diffuser. The order of $K_{La}$ value with nozzle type ranked in the following order: 3-prong nozzle (inner diameter, less 1 mm) > circular nozzle (inner diameter, 1.5 mm) > ellipse nozzle (short diameter 1 mm, long diameter 2.5 mm) > circular nozzle (inner diameter, 3 mm). Optimal liquid circulation rate was appeared to be 1.7 L/min, the value of $K_{La}$ was 0.510 1/min. The value of $K_{La}$ with increasing air supply rate was revealed in the form of an exponential such as $K_{La}=0.3581e^{0.2919^*air\;flow\;rate}$.
The scale is removed from the strip by high pressure hydraulic descaling at the FSB (Finishing Scale Breaker). Recently, the spray height of nozzle has a trend to be shorter for the purpose of increasing the impact pressure by the high pressure water jet. Here, the nozzle intervals should be decided after considering the impact pressure and the temperature distribution on the strip. In other words, the minimum of impact pressure at the overlap of spray influences the surface grade of the strip due to scale and the overlap distance of the spray affects the temperature variation in the direction of the width of strip. In the present study, the impact pressure of the high pressure water jet is measured by the hydraulic descaling system and calculated with regard to the lead angle of 15$^{\circ}$ and the offset angle of 15$^{\circ}$, and then the temperature distribution and the temperature variation are calculated at the overlap distances of 0 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm, respectively. The method of setting nozzle intervals is shown by utilizing these results.
The spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich preburner are investigated. This system is generally operated at an oxidizerfuel mixture ratio of 50. The spray quality and mixing performance are very important for safe combustion. To know the spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich preburner, we have designed various swirl injectors and measured droplet velocity and size by the PDPA system. The flow discharge coefficient of the fuel orifice is $0.12{\sim}0.21$, oxidizer orifice discharge coefficient is $0.16{\sim}0.28$. From the spray visualization, fuel nozzle spray angle is $15^{\circ}{\sim}25^{\circ}$, oxidizer nozzle spray angle is $65^{\circ}{\sim}85^{\circ}$ and combined spray angle is reduced $2^{\circ}{\sim}5^{\circ}$ compared to the oxidizer nozzle only case. From the PDPA measurement, droplet SMD is $175\;{\mu}m$ at 50 mm and $190\;{\mu}m$ at 100 mm of variant 1 combined case. The number concentration measurement revealed the reason of the droplet diameter increasement with distance. That is due to drop coalescence results from collision of drops which is occurred in dense sprays at a long distance from nozzle orifice exit.

In the course of missile system design, jet plume impingement is encountered in designing airframe as well as launchers, requiring careful investigation of its effect on the system. In the present paper, recent works on such topic are presented to demonstrate usefulness of CFD results in helping design the hardware. The jet impinging flow structure exhibits such complex nature as shock shell, plate shock and Mach disk depending on the flow parameters. The main parameters are the ratio of the jet pressure to the ambient pressure and the distance between the nozzle and the wall. In the current application, the nozzle contour and the pressure ratio are held fixed, but the jet impinging distance is varied to illuminate the characteristics of the jet plume with the distance. The same methodology is then applied to a complex vertical launcher system (VLS), capturing its flow structure and major design parameter. These applications involving jets are thus hoped to demonstrate the usefulness and value of CFD in designing a complex structure in the real engineering environment.
