Euro6 소형 경유자동차의 실제 도로 주행 NOx 배출량 평가 (Estimating On-road NOx Emissions of Euro 6 Light-duty Diesel Vehicles)

  • To protect air pollution of urban area from motor vehicles, emission limits for diesel vehicles have been dramatically lowered in short period. But recent studies have shown that on-road NOx emissions of light-duty diesel vehicles are considerably higher than the values measured with laboratory test procedures used for emission certification. To tackle with this issue, Ministry of Environment have a plan to introduce EU RDE-LDV (Real-driving Emission-Light-duty Vehicle) regulation. In this study, 4 Euro 6 diesel vehicles have been tested with the new test procedures published by EU to estimate on-road NOx emissions using PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System). The results have shown that the requirements of EU RDE-LDV could be met in driving condition of metropolitan area for constitution of test routes and validity of test results. In analysing with Moving Averaging Window method the completeness and normality of test data were validated with the requirement. On-road NOx emissions were quite deviated as test vehicles and higher than the new limit of on-road NOx emission enforced from Sept. 2017, which means that RDE-LDV can effectively reduce NOx emission of diesel vehicles in real driving conditions of Korea.

  • Diesel engine has many advantages such as high thermal efficiency, low fuel consumption and low emission of CO2. However, the diesel engine faced with strengthened emission regulation about NOx and PM. To suppress NOx emission, after-treatment systems such as Lean NOx Trap (LNT), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) are considered as a more practical strategy. This paper investigated the performance of Lean NOx trap of the 4 stroke diesel engine which had a LNT catalyst. Characteristic of exhaust emission at NEDC mode was analyzed. From this result, the effect of nozzle attaching degree, injection quantity and gas flow change on NOx conversion performance was clarified.

  • NOx is an important air pollution material which is generated when fossil fuels are burning, NOx removal in flue gas by selective catalytic reduction was studied over various catalysts in a fixed bed continuous flow reactor. The ranges of experimental conditions were at the temperatures between $200^\circ$C and $350^\circ$C, the $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratios between 0.8 and 1.4, oxygen concentrations between 1.5% and 3% and the space velocities between 5, 000 $hr^-1$ and 12, 500 $hr^-1$. The efficiency of NOx removal in the ranges of experimental conditions was highest at the temp. of 300$^\circ$C, oxygen concentration of 2.5-2.6% and $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratios of 1.0-1.2. The catalyst with high activity for NOx removal in flue gas was found to be $MoO_3-V_2O_5/TiO_2$.

Upstream Regulators and Downstream Effectors of NADPH Oxidases as Novel Therapeutic Targets for Diabetic Kidney Disease

  • Oxidative stress has been linked to the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy, the complication of diabetes in the kidney. NADPH oxidases of the Nox family, and in particular the homologue Nox4, are a major source of reactive oxygen species in the diabetic kidney and are critical mediators of redox signaling in glomerular and tubulointerstitial cells exposed to the diabetic milieu. Here, we present an overview of the current knowledge related to the understanding of the role of Nox enzymes in the processes that control mesangial cell, podocyte and tubulointerstitial cell injury induced by hyperglycemia and other predominant factors enhanced in the diabetic milieu, including the renin-angiotensin system and transforming growth factor-${\beta}$. The nature of the upstream modulators of Nox enzymes as well as the downstream targets of the Nox NADPH oxidases implicated in the propagation of the redox processes that alter renal biology in diabetes will be highlighted.

  • This numerical study was to investigate the effect of $CO_2$ addition on the structures and NOx formation characteristics in $CH_4$ counterflow diffusion flame. The importance of radiation effect was identified and $CO_2$ addition effect was investigated in terms of thermal and chemical reaction effect. Also the causes of NOx reduction were clarified by separation method of each formation mechanisms. The results were as follows : The radiation effect was intensified by $CO_2$ addition. Thermal effect mainly contributed to the changes in flame structure and the amount of NO formation but the chemical reaction effect also cannot be neglected. The reduction of thermal NO was dominant with respect to reduction rate, but that of prompt NO was dominant with respect to total amount.

  • Carbon nanotubes(CNT) have excellent electrical, chemical stability and mechanical properties. These can be used in a variety of fields. MWCNT are extremely sensitive for minute changes in the ambient gas, namely, their sensing properties varies greatly with the absorption of gas such as NOx and $H_2$. We investigate the electrical properties of CNTs and make a NOx gas sensor based on Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) materials. We obtained the NOx gas sensor of MWCNT based on P-type Si wafer that has the resistivity of $1.667{\times}10^{-1}[{\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$. We knew that the sensitivity of sensor decreased with increasing of NOx gas concentration. And the sensitivity of sensor shows the largest value at $20^{\circ}C$. The sensitivity of sensor decrease with increasing the temperature. Also absorption energy of NOx gas molecule on the MWCNT surface decreases with increasing concentration of NOx gas.

예혼합 화염후류에서 열전달이 CO 및 NOx 생성 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Heat Loss on CO and NOx Emission Characteristics in the Postflame Region of Premixed Flames)

  • Strict pollutant regulations of NOx emission and increasing awareness of the environmental damage stimulated interest in research to obtain useful information regarding CO and NOx reductions at the same time. In this study, $CH_4$/air premixed flame was examined numerically to reduce CO and NOx emission level simultaneously in the post-flame region by the heat loss models in which radiative and combined conductive and convective heat losses were included. To reduce the NOx emission, first heat exchanger location was decided near the flame. After first heat exchanger was decided for the optimal NOx emission(about 30 ppm), in order to decide the optimal CO emission(about 30ppm), seocond heat exchanger location was tested and decided for several cases. Finally, the optimal location of heat exchanger for minimal CO and NOx emission simultaneously were determined and suggested.

진동연소기의 NOx 저감 효과 연구 (NOx Reduction Study in Oscillating Combustion Burner)

  • The NOx emission characteristics were studied in an oscillating combustion burner equipped with a specially designed proportioning valve. The effects of various parameters on the NOx emission which are important in oscillating combustion were investigated. Also, the effects of coincident application of flue gas recirculation(FGR) were evaluated. The results show that oscillating combustion is an efficient tool for reducing NOx in the burner. Up to 53% of NOx reduction could be acquired in low frequency and small duty ratio conditions. The coincident application of FGR further reduced the NOx emission up to 74%. Thus, this study assured that oscillating combustion technology with FGR could be a fascinating method for NOx reduction in industrial burners.

  • In this paper. the effects of a WI(Water Injection) in the intake pipe for a 4-cylinder Dl(Direct Injection) diesel engine are investigated experimentally, The WI system was controlled by the duty cycle from the intake manifold's temperature and MAF(Manifold Air Flow) First. effect of EGR on NOx reduction was investigated. Then WI system was applied to reduce NOx As the results. we can make the NOx map and visualize the NOx results by variation of engine speed and engine load It was known that effect of WI system on NOx reduction without the EGR was better than the with EGR base engine except of low load and speed condition.

소형 디젤엔진의 NOx 저감을 위한 Urea-SCR 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Urea-SCR System for NOx Reduction of a light-Duty Diesel Engine)

  • The effects of an urea injection at the exhaust pipe for a 4-cylinder DI(Direct Injection) diesel engine were investigated with the parameters such as urea-SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) and EGR system. The urea quantity was controlled by NOx quantity and MAF(Manifold Air Flow). The urea injection quantity can be controlled with the urea syringe pump, precisely. The effects of NOx reduction for the urea-SCR system were investigated with and without ECR engine, respectively. It was concluded that the SUF(Stoichiometric Urea Flow) is calculated and the NOx results are visualized with engine speed and load. Furthermore, the NOx map is made from this experimental results. It was suggested, therefore, that NOx reduction effects of the urea-SCR system without the EGR engine were better than that with the EGR engine except of low load and low speed.
