In this paper the emission characteristic of the ship's diesel engine with CPP(Controllable Pitch Propeller) were investigated under the passage test on the sea. As the results it is confirmed that the NOx.$CO_x$ concentrations increase as the engine speed increases and the torque decreases. but the amount of NOx, COx emissions(g./k Wh) decrease as the torque increase regardless of the engine speed. Also it is compared with the NOx concentra-tions measured by the two method-ECC(Electrochemical Cell)and CLD(Chemiluminescence Detector)for the correct measurement and the ECC indicated higher value than the CLD.

Coal-burning utilities are facing a major NOx control compliance challenge due to the heavy emission regulation. In response to this challenge, some applicative technologies to effectively reduce NOx are developed and applied in the pulverized coal power plants. One of these is low NOx burner(LNB) equipped with multi-staged air register. In this study, NOx emission rate and flame shapes are investigated with secondary and tertiary air flow conditions in air staged coal burner, and the optimal windows of flow conditions to minimize NOx emission rate are found out. The test conditions treated in this study are the flow rate, swirl direction and intensity and throat injection velocity of secondary and tertiary air.

Air pollution included Nitric Oxide(NOx) from heating boilers is increased by pursuing better life. Development of low NOx emission boiler is strongly needed. However commercial burner for heating boiler is also asked to be thermal efficient and low-cost manufactuable in addition to low NOx emission. Small space for combustor including burner is usually allowed. In this study, parametric study of compact low NOx burner for heating boiler was done using numerical analysis and experiments. Commerical computational fluid dynamic(CFD) program named CFX 5-6 was used for numerical analysis of low NOx burner using turbulent diffusion flame. Comparison of outlet NO and outlet temperature under various equivalence ratio and fuel flow rate was performed between experiment and numerical analysis.

단계적 연료방식을 가지는 가스터빈 연소기의 해석을 위한 방법을 제안하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 연료배분방식에 따른 연소기의 연소 및 NOx 발생특성을 규명하였다. 연소기 해석모델은 연소기 내부를 선회기구역, 1차연소구역, 재순환구역, 2차연소구역 및 희석구역으로 나누어 각각의 반응구역을 혼합반응기, 플러그 유동반응기의 모델로서 근사하였다. 반응기내의 연소 및 NOx 생성반응은 천연가스 반응모델과 Zel'dovich 의 NOx 모델을 이용하여 예측하였다. 본 해석방법을 이용하여, 각 반응구역에 유입되는 연료량이 연소기내 연소특성, NOx 발생 특성 및 온도분포에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 또한, NOx 저감을 위해 증기분사를 사용하는 경우에 분사위치가 NOx 발생에 미치는 영향을 분석하여, 가스터빈 연소기설계에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하였다.

We evaluated the reduction performance of NOx storage catalyst and TWC for lean-burn natural gas engine by the model gas. The method of unsteady state reaction was used to compare with reduction performances of NOx storage catalyst and TWC. It was found that the effective parameter was rich spike duration, temperature of the model gas. In the presence of $CO_2$ and $H_2O$ in the reaction mixture was decreased the NOx reduction performance.

Oxidative stress has been linked to the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy, the complication of diabetes in the kidney. NADPH oxidases of the Nox family, and in particular the homologue Nox4, are a major source of reactive oxygen species in the diabetic kidney and are critical mediators of redox signaling in glomerular and tubulointerstitial cells exposed to the diabetic milieu. Here, we present an overview of the current knowledge related to the understanding of the role of Nox enzymes in the processes that control mesangial cell, podocyte and tubulointerstitial cell injury induced by hyperglycemia and other predominant factors enhanced in the diabetic milieu, including the renin-angiotensin system and transforming growth factor-${\beta}$. The nature of the upstream modulators of Nox enzymes as well as the downstream targets of the Nox NADPH oxidases implicated in the propagation of the redox processes that alter renal biology in diabetes will be highlighted.

In this paper, reduction characteristics of NOx gas produced from diesel engine combustion is studied by using pulse corona discharge. Nox concentration of 1900ppm (NO 1870, NO$\sub$2/ 30 ppm, N$\sub$2/ balance gas) was controlled in a fixed quantity of 280ppm, using a flow meter. Reactors are composed of cylinder type. NOx reduction rate is investigated with discharge electrode diameter[0.5,1,3,4.phi.], reactor length [130,300mm], reactor materials[Copper, Poly Vinyl Chloride] and Input voltage[DC, AC, DC Pulse square voltage]. In the result, NOx reduction rate is the best of all in copper reactor, small electrode diameter[0.5.phi.], DC pulse voltage and long reactor[300mm]. Then Teduction rate of NOx is about 93%.

This work presents an experimental investigation of NOx emissions according to inlet air temperature (550-660 K), stoichiometric air ratio (${\lambda}$, 1.4-2.1), and elevated pressure (2-5 bar) in a High Press Combustor (HPC) equipped with a double cone burner, which was designed by Pusan Clean Coal Center (PC3). The exhaust-gas temperature and NOx emissions were measured at the end of the combustion chamber. The NOx emissions generally decreased as a function of increasing ${\lambda}$. On the other hand, NOx emissions were influenced by ${\lambda}$, inlet air temperature and pressure of the combustion chamber. In particular, when the inlet air temperature increased, the flammability limit was extended to leaner conditions. As a result, a higher adiabatic temperature and lower NOx emissions could be achieved under these operation conditions. The NOx emissions that were governed by thermal NOx were greatly increased under elevated pressures, and slightly increased at sufficiently low fuel concentrations (${\lambda}$ >1.8).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between kiln processing parameters and NOx emissions that occur in the sintering and calcination steps of the cement manufacturing process and to derive the main factors responsible for producing emissions outside emission limit criteria, as determined by category models and classification rules, using data mining techniques. The results from this study are expected to be useful as guidelines for NOx emission control standards. Methods: Data were collected from Precalciner Kiln No.3 used in one of the domestic cement plants in Korea. Thirty-four independent variables affecting NOx generation and dependent variables that exceeded or were below the NOx emiision limit (>1 and <0, respectively) were examined during kiln processing. These data were used to construct a detection model of NOx emission, in which emissions exceeded or were below the set limits. The model was validated using SPSS MODELER 18.0, artificial neural network, decision treee (C5.0), and logistic regression analysis data mining techniques. Results: The decision tree (C5.0) algorithm best represented NOx emission behavior and was used to identify 10 processing variables that resulted in NOx emissions outside limit criteria. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the decision tree (C5.0) can be applied for real-time monitoring and management of NOx emissions during the cement firing process to satisfy NOx emission control standards and to provide for a more eco-friendly cement product.

Lean NOx Trap (LNT) catalysts are capable of reducing exhaust NOx emissions from diesel engines. LNT stores NOx in lean condition and exhausts N2 by reducing NOx in rich condition. NOx reduction characteristic of LNT catalysts using throttle position sensor and fuel injection timing control for light-duty diesel engine was investigated. In contrast to SCR system, LNT catalyst uses diesel fuel in resuctant. Also if the concentration of reductant is exceeded, excessive amount of reductant will slip throughout LNT and cause another emission problem. Thus LNT regeneration with precise engine control established that can make higher NOx conversion efficiency and lower fuel penalty, prevent another emission problem. NOx and reductant concentration were measured by the NOx sensor and Mexa7100D equipped inlet and outlet of catalyst. As a result of engine test, regeneration strategy has reached high of 77.8% NOx conversion efficiency according to engine operation condition. Moreover, we have proved that it is possible to use regeneration strategy of LNT within 5% fuel penalty.
