IoT 기반 화재탐지시스템의 연기 및 온도감지기 비화재보 신호 패턴 분석 (Analysis of Unwanted Fire Alarm Signal Pattern of Smoke / Temperature Detector in the IoT-Based Fire Detection System)

  • Fire-alarm systems are safety equipment that facilitate rapid evacuation and early suppression in case of fire. It is highly desirable that fire-alarm systems have low false-alarm rates and are thus reliable. Until now, researchers have attempted to improve detector performance by applying new technologies such as IoT. To this end, IoT-based fire-detection systems have been developed. However, due to scarcity of large-scale operational data, researchers have barely studied malfunctioning in fire-alarm systems or attempted to reduce false-alarm rates in these systems. In this study, we analyzed false-alarm rates of smoke/temperature detectors and unwanted fire-alarm signal patterns at K institution, where Korea's largest IoT-based fire-detection system operates. After analyzing the fire alarm occurrences at the institution for five years, we inferred that the IoT-based fire-detection system showed lower false-alarm rates compared to the automatic fire-detection equipment. We analyzed the detection pattern by dividing it into two parts: normal operation and unwanted fire alarms. When a specific signal pattern was filtered out, the false-alarm rate was reduced to 66.9% in the smoke detector and to 46.9% in the temperature detector.

남북 농업부문 교역이 동북아(한·중·일)의 교역구조에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Effect of Inter Korean Agriculture Trade on Trade Structure in Northeast Asia)

  • Until now, research on inter-Korean economic cooperation and economic integration has been limited to the areas of the two Koreas. However, Korea is connected with many countries in Asia through the global value chain. Thus, if inter-Korean trade deepens, it may affect the trade structure of neighboring countries. In order to establish a specific inter-Korean economic integration policy when North Korea becomes a normal state in the future, an analysis that reflects the trade structure including Northeast Asia must be preceded. Therefore, in this paper, the impact of inter-Korean trade on Korea, China and Japan was analyzed using the international input and output table containing actual trade data. The scope of analysis was limited to agriculture, reflecting North Korea's demand for economic cooperation. The results show that trade in the agricultural sector between the two Koreas did not have a significant effect of production and value added. but when China and Japan participate in trade with North Korea, the production effect was calculated to be as high as 4 million dollars in Korea and up to 10 million dollars in Japan. And China showed up to 520 million dollars. In addition, the value-added effect was calculated up to $1 million in Korea, up to $4 million in Japan, and up to $250 million in China.

자연살해세포와 항암면역치료 (Natural Killer Cell and Cancer Immunotherapy)

  • Cancer remains the leading cause of death worldwide despite intense efforts in developing innovative treatments. Current approaches in cancer therapy are mainly directed to a selective targeting of cancer cells to avoid potential side effects associated with conventional therapy. In this respect, Natural killer (NK) cells have gained growing attention and are now being considered as promising therapeutic tools for cancer therapy owing to their intrinsic ability to rapidly recognize and kill cancer cells, while sparing normal healthy cells. NK cells play a key role in the first line of defense against transformed and virus-infected cells. NK cells sense their target through a whole array of receptors, both activating and inhibitory. Functional outcome of NK cell against target cells is determined by the balance of signals transmitted from diverse activating and inhibiting receptors. Despite significant progress made in the role of NK cells attack as a pivotal sentinel in tumor surveillance, the molecular has been that regulate NK cell responses remain unclear, which restricts the use of NK cells as a therapeutic measure. Accordingly, current efforts for NK cell-based cancer therapy have largely relied on the strategies that are based on the manipulation of inhibitory receptor function. However, if we better understand the mechanisms governing NK cell activation, including those mediated by diverse activating receptors, this knowledge can be applied to the development of optimal design for cancer immunotherapy by targeting NK cells.

가와사끼병 환자에서 분리한 CD14양성 세포에서 Toll-like Receptor-2의 발현 (Expression of Toll-like Receptor-2 on the Peripheral Blood Monocytes in Kawasaki Disease Patients)

  • 목 적 : 본 연구에서는 가와사끼병에서 toll-like receptor(TLR)의 발현정도를 살펴 염증반응이 유발되기 시작하는 기전에 대해 접근하고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2003년 3월부터 8월까지 연세의료원에서 가와사끼병으로 진단 받은 환아 10명과 발열대조군 10명 및 정상대조군 10명의 말초혈액을 얻은 후 유세포분석기(flow cytometry)를 시행하여 CD14 양성인 단핵구에서의 TLR-2 발현정도를 측정하였다. 또한 말초 혈액 단핵구의 total RNA를 분리한 후 역전사중합효소 연쇄반응(RT-PCR)을 시행하여 TLR-2의 mRNA 발현을 살펴보았다. 결 과 : 환자군에서의 TLR-2 발현은 정상대조군보다 통계적으로 유의하게 증가되어 있었으나 임상경과에 따른 양상을 보면 급성기보다 아급성기에서 감소하였지만 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 보이지 않았고 환자군과 발열대조군의 TLR-2 발현도 의미있는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 또한 급성기 환자군의 말초혈액 단 핵구에서 TLR-2의 mRNA 발현이 증가되어 있었다. 결 론 : TLR-2의 발현은 가와사끼병 환자에서 정상대조군과 비교하여 증가되어 있었으며 이는 TLR 및 이를 통한 선천성 면역계(innate immunity)가 가와사끼병의 병인과 연관될 수 있음을 시사한다. 앞으로 TLR의 발현이 가와사끼병에서의 염증유발에 있어 구체적으로 어떤 역할을 하는지에 대한 연구가 더 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

펄프·제지 산업에서의 프랙탈 기하 원리 및 그 응용 (The Principles of Fractal Geometry and Its Applications for Pulp & Paper Industry)

  • Until Mandelbrot introduced the concept of fractal geometry and fractal dimension in early 1970s, it has been generally considered that the geometry of nature should be too complex and irregular to describe analytically or mathematically. Here fractal dimension indicates a non-integer number such as 0.5, 1.5, or 2.5 instead of only integers used in the traditional Euclidean geometry, i.e., 0 for point, 1 for line, 2 for area, and 3 for volume. Since his pioneering work on fractal geometry, the geometry of nature has been found fractal. Mandelbrot introduced the concept of fractal geometry. For example, fractal geometry has been found in mountains, coastlines, clouds, lightning, earthquakes, turbulence, trees and plants. Even human organs are found to be fractal. This suggests that the fractal geometry should be the law for Nature rather than the exception. Fractal geometry has a hierarchical structure consisting of the elements having the same shape, but the different sizes from the largest to the smallest. Thus, fractal geometry can be characterized by the similarity and hierarchical structure. A process requires driving energy to proceed. Otherwise, the process would stop. A hierarchical structure is considered ideal to generate such driving force. This explains why natural process or phenomena such as lightning, thunderstorm, earth quakes, and turbulence has fractal geometry. It would not be surprising to find that even the human organs such as the brain, the lung, and the circulatory system have fractal geometry. Until now, a normal frequency distribution (or Gaussian frequency distribution) has been commonly used to describe frequencies of an object. However, a log-normal frequency distribution has been most frequently found in natural phenomena and chemical processes such as corrosion and coagulation. It can be mathematically shown that if an object has a log-normal frequency distribution, it has fractal geometry. In other words, these two go hand in hand. Lastly, applying fractal principles is discussed, focusing on pulp and paper industry. The principles should be applicable to characterizing surface roughness, particle size distributions, and formation. They should be also applicable to wet-end chemistry for ideal mixing, felt and fabric design for papermaking process, dewatering, drying, creping, and post-converting such as laminating, embossing, and printing.

보험 청구액에 대한 새로운 복합분포 (New composite distributions for insurance claim sizes)

  • 보험 시장은 포화되고 그 성장 동력은 소진되어 보험 산업이 저성장에 머물러 있는 가운데 보험사들은 치열한 경쟁 환경에 놓여있다. 이러한 상황에서 보험 상품에 대한 보험수리적 계산의 기초가 되는 보험 청구액의 흐름을 잘 설명할 수 있는 확률분포를 찾아내는 것은 중요한 쟁점이 될 것이다. 보험 청구액의 분포는 일반적으로 두꺼운 꼬리를 가지면서 왼쪽으로 치우친 로그정규분포나 파레토 분포로 잘 설명된다고 알려져 있으나 최근에는 기운 정규분포나 기운 t 분포가 보험 청구액 분포로 적절한 것으로 고찰되었다. Cooray와 Ananda (2005)는 로그정규분포와 파레토 분포의 장점을 모두 가진 로그정규-파레토 복합분포를 제시하고 단일분포보다 더 높은 적합도를 가짐을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서는 기운 정규분포와 기운 t 분포를 머리 부분으로 결합한 새로운 복합분포를 소개하고 덴마크의 화재보험 청구액 데이터와 미국의 배상 지불금 데이터에 적용하여 기존의 다른 복합분포들을 포함하여 여러 단일분포들과 그 성능을 비교한다.

난경(難經)에서 안맥(按脈)의 경중(輕重)에 따른 오장배속방법(五臟配屬方法)에 대(對)한 맥경(脈經)과의 비교(比較) 연구(硏究) (A study in Mack-Gyung(脈經) on taking pulse of relative weight to five Viscera attachment system in Nan-Gyung(難經))

  • In Nan-Gyung, showed that could know the lung condition taking pulse with the weight of three beans, the heart condition taking pulse with the weight of six beans, the spleen condition taking pulse with the weight of nine beans, the liver condition taking pulse with the weight of twelve beans, the kidney condition pressing to bone(骨). This theory is first suggested in Nan-Gyung(難經). In those case, the weight of three, six, nine, twelve beans and pressing to bone don't mean not the real weight but the relative weight(輕重) of taking pulse(按脈). In other words, those represent Boo Jung Chin(浮中沈), which are the conception of the upper, the meddle, the lower part(上中下). So, we could take pulse of the heart and the lung condition in Boo(浮), the spleen condition in Jung(中), and the liver and the kidney condition in Chim(沈). The heart and the lung pulse showed in the Boo(float level) must be seen with Boo-Mack(부맥 : float pulse), the liver and the kidney pulse showed in Chim (sinklevel) must be seen also with Chin-Mack(沈脈 : sink pulse). The result of the method of taking pulse of viscera with relative weight focused on the as pect of mornal pulse(平脈) and disease pulse(病脈) of five viscera in Mack-Gyung publeshed later than Nan-Gyung and special works which made a comprehensive survey the result is as follow. 1. In normal pulse of five viscera, the heart and the lunk pulse were shown with Boo-Mack(浮脈:float pulse) as the central figure, the liver's and the kidney's pulse were shown centering around Chim-Mack(沈脈: sink pulse) and the spleen's pulse was shown with Wan-Mack(緩脈) which is vital force of stomach(胃氣) and seen in only middle part. 2. In disease pulse of five viscera, frequently, the heart and the lung pulse was shown as Chim-Mack(sink pulse), the liver and the kidney pulse was seen as Boo-Mack (float pulse). 3. In the case of normal pulse. the method of taking pulse with relative weight in Nan-Gyung agree with the normal pulse of five viscera in Mack-Gyung. But in the case of disease pulse, they didn't correspond with the other. 4. So the method of taking pulse with relative weight in Nan-Gyung is not the exam pulse which ca be used in the clinical diagnosis but one of the feeling pulse way to bring in the conception of location of the visceras. 5. From now on, the method of taking pulse rdlated to relative weight need to be looked into minutely compared with later physician's theory than Mack-Gyung.

뉴 노멀 시대하 한국기업의 R&D투자가 산업간 기술파급에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Enterprise R&D Investment on Inter-industry Technology Spillover in Korea under the new Normal Era)

  • 본 연구는 금융위기 이후 새로운 질서로 부상되고 있는 뉴 노멀 시대하 한국 기업의 R&D투자가 각 산업에 미치는 기술파급효과를 생산유발효과, 전후방연관효과, 기술집약효과, 기술확산효과를 통하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 먼저, 생산유발계수가 높은 부문으로는 전문과학 및 기술서비스, 금속제품, 일반기계 등인 반면 비교적 작은 부문으로는 석유 및 석탄제품, 전력, 가스 및 수도 등으로 나타났다. 또한, 산업간 전 후방연관효과를 나타내는 감응도계수와 영향력계수는 비금속광물제품이나 수송장비 등의 부문에서 비교적 높게 나타나 이들 산업을 중심으로 R&D투자를 통한 기술혁신과 생산성 증대가 이루어진다면 여타 산업에 큰 파급효과를 유발하게 될 것으로 보인다. 기술파급효과인 R&D집약효과와 확산효과에서는 두 효과 모두 비교적 높은 부문은 전기 및 전자기기, 정밀기기, 그리고 전문과학 및 기술서비스부문으로 이들 산업으로부터 많은 기술이 체화되어 이전되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 특이한 사항으로 최근에 각광받고 있는 과학전문 및 기술서비스업은 집약효과 및 확산효과 모두에서 높은 R&D투자효과를 보여주고 있어 앞으로 이들 산업의 육성이 필요시 된다고 하겠다.

당뇨병에서 TCF7L2와 FTO 유전자의 특정 단일염기다형성과의 연관성 연구 (Study about the Association between Diabetes and the Targeted SNPs of TCF7L2 and FTO Genes)

  • Diabetes is a disease that contains a high concentration of glucose in blood and due to defects in either insulin secretion or insulin action. Although the distinctive causes and factors of diabetes have not been clarified, the genetic factors are suggested as a main susceptibility until now. SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism), as the most common genetic variation, has an influence on personal susceptibility for diseases. A nonsynonymous SNP, which changes the amino acid of the protein and its function, is especially important. Therefore, this study hypothesized that there are associations between specific SNPs of the targeted genes. Transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) and fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) genes were selected as target genes from the results of genome-wide association and other related research studies. Second, four nonsynonymous SNPs (three in TCF7L2 and one in FTO gene) were selected as target SNPs by using public database of NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). The recruited personnel was classified into three subgroups of diabetes, impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and normal groups. The individual genotypes of each group were analyzed by resequencing. None of genetic variations at four targeted SNP sites was revealed in all samples of this study. However, this study found two new SNPs that were not reported in TCF7L2 gene. One is synonymous SNP, which is heterozygous of C/T and no amino acid change of asparagine/asparagines, was located at c1641 and found in one normal person. Another is nonsynonymous SNP, which is heterozygous of G/A, was located at c1501 and found in two samples. This new discovered nonsynonymous SNP induce the amino acid change from alanine to threonine. Moreover, this new nonsynonymous SNP was found among two persons, one of whom was a diabetes patient and the other one was a person at boundary between IFG and normal, suggesting that this variant might be associated with IFG or diabetes. Even if there is a limitation of sample number for statistical power, this study has an importance due to the discovery of new SNPs. In the future study, a large sample number of diabetes cohort will be needed to investigate the frequency and association with new discovered SNP.

A Study on the Comparison of Recognition of Body Types in Korean and Chinese College Female Students

  • Ever since China adopted a free market economy, it has been basking in unprecedented economic growth. It has now emerged as one of the most promising markets in the world for the near future. The purpose of this study was to investigate of Chinese and Korea college female students's cognitive body type and to suggest basic informations for high quality clothing merchandising for china export. The subjects in this study were 430 college female students, aged from 18 to 24 living in Beijing(215) and Seoul(215). The survey were taken from June to July, 1999. SAS(Statistical Analysis System) is used for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, χ²-test. The results of this study are as follows. The 90% of Chinese collge female students has under 4000 yuan for monthly income, and they consume less than 1000 yuan for clothing purchasing for one year. About 42% chinese students are interested in controlling of physical body shape. The Korean college female students has from 1,000,000 won to 10,000,000 won for monthly income, and the 84% of them consume less than 1,000,000 for clothing purchasing for one year. It represents of economical difference between China and Korea. Examination on the Korean and Chinese self-perception on obesity of the body as a whole showed that both groups perceived themselves as normal or slightly overweight. More Korean respondents regarded their weight as normal than the Chinese did. The Chinese female college students perceived themselves rather overweight, and held a lower satisfaction level about their physical construction. While the Korean female college students showed low satisfaction level about specific bodily parts, they held a normal level of satisfaction about their physical construction as a whole. It is noteworthy that more Chinese respondents generally held lower satisfaction impressions about their physical construction than their Korean counterparts. It is needed to different merchandising project for export clothing in China.
