Predicting US and Chinese consumers' purchase intention of Korean textiles and apparel related cultural products

  • This study aims to examine if a consumer's evaluations of and purchase intentions towards textiles and apparel-related cultural products are influenced by their culture, as indicated by their nationalities. Additionally, several psychological variables, such as novelty-seeking tendency, world-mindedness, and familiarity with Northeast Asian culture were included in the analyses to compare the relative importance of cultural influences with the importance of individual characteristics. To conduct a quantitative analysis, we collected data from 400 female consumers in two countries: 200 from the USA and 200 from China. Key findings showed that, nationality and novelty-seeking were found to have a strong influence on purchase intention when product evaluation variables were not included. Evaluation of appearance and Northeast Asian design emerged highly significant predictors of purchase intention for Korean cultural products, regardless of the product type. Cross cultural comparative research on cultural product evaluations is extremely rare. This study focused on groups of consumers residing in the US and China and asked them to evaluate a series of textiles and apparel-related cultural products produced in Korea.

자극 추구 기질과 위험회피 기질이 중학생의 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향 : 정서조절 능력의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Harm Avoidance Temperament and Novelty Seeking Temperament on School Adjustment in Middle School Students: Mediating Effects of Emotional Regulation)

  • This study was conducted to explore the effects of novelty seeking temperament and harm avoidance temperament on school adjustment in middle school students and to investigate the mediating effects of emotional regulation on the relationship between temperament and school adjustment. A survey was conducted on a random sample of 672 middle school students. Data were analyzed using PASW ver. 18.0 and AMOS ver. 18.0 to carry out descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and the structural equation model. The main results of analysis could be summarized as follows. First, novelty seeking temperament and harm avoidance temperament had a negative influence upon school adjustment in middle school students. Second, emotional regulation had a positive influence upon school adjustment in middle school students. Third, temperament acted as a partial mediator for emotional regulation affecting school adjustment in middle school students. The study contributes to the literature by providing fundamental insights into school adjustment in middle school students.

충동구매 시 긍정적 감정형성과정에서 구매위험지각과 비구매위험지각의 역할 (The Role of Perceived Consumer Risk for Purchase and Non-Purchase in the Formation of Positive Impulsive Shopping Emotion)

  • This study focuses on how positive emotions form when consumers impulsively purchase fashion products. Examined are the novelty seeking situations and the fashion knowledge of consumers as influential factors that affect positive impulsive shopping emotions along with the mediating role of the perceived risk of consumers for purchase and non-purchase. An online survey was conducted for the empirical research with a questionnaire about the fashion impulsive purchases of a product within the last 2 months. A total of 555 surveys were collected from impulsive female buyers and 404 complete responses were analyzed. The results find that the perceived risk is identified into purchase and non-purchase perspectives. Purchase perceived risk influenced negatively on positive emotions of impulsive purchase and non-purchase perceived risk positively. The perceived risk for non-purchase versus purchase increased by the more fashion knowledge consumers had and the more they shopped as novelty seeking. The results imply that non-purchase perceived risk importantly mediated between the influential factors and positive affect for impulsive purchase. Based on the findings, this study proposed some marketing suggestions and thoughts about effective purchase stimulation.

  • 최근 다양한 채널의 등장으로 일반인들도 1인 미디어를 통해 불특정다수의 시청소비자와의 커뮤니케이션 활동이 증감함에 따라 본 연구는 1인 미디어콘텐츠의 특성이 지각된 가치에 미치는 영향과 지각된 가치가 지속적 이용의도에 미치는 영향, 신기성 추구성향에 따른 상호작용효과를 살펴보았다. 설문조사를 통해 데이터를 수집하였으며, SPSS프로그램을 통해 1인 미디어콘텐츠의 특성인 정보품질, 정보신뢰성, 유희성이 지각된 가치에 미치는 영향을 검증한 결과, 모두 유의한 수준으로 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 지각된 가치는 지속적 이용의도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 신기성추구성향과 지각된 가치의 상호작용효과는 유의하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 콘텐츠 크리에이터들은 콘텐츠 제작시 내용 및 구성에 있어서 오락적 요소 못지않게 내용의 신뢰성에 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다. 향후 연구방향으로 신기성추구성향의 직접적인 효과와 1인 미디어콘텐츠를 이용하는 시청자의 특성이 미치는 다양한 요인에 대해 연구를 진행해 보는 것이 의미가 있을 것으로 판단된다.

여대생의 음주문제 관련 요인 (Factors Influencing Drinking Problems in Female University Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing drinking problems in female university students to provide basic data for a nursing intervention program to improve health and prevent drinking problems. Method: Data were collected from September 17 to 21, 2007 through a questionnaire survey of 325 female college students in G City. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The most powerful predictor of drinking problems was refusal self efficacy. The combination of the influence of friends, perceived stress, personality of novelty seeking, and alcohol expectancy accounted for 23.7% of the variance in drinking problems. Conclusion: From the results, I recommend that refusal self efficacy, influence of friends, perceived stress, personality of novelty seeking, and alcohol expectancy should be contained in developing nursing intervention programs for preventing drinking problems in female university students.

유아기 감각처리가 기질 및 성격 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Early Childhood Sensory Processing on Temperament and Character Traits)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 유아의 기질 및 성격 특성에 기여하는 감각처리 요인을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 본 단면연구에서 만 3-6세 전형적 발달 유아의 양육자가 유아용 기질 및 성격검사와 감각프로 파일에 응답하였다. 기질 및 성격 특성의 각 준거 변인에 대하여 감각처리 사분 요인을 예언 변인으로 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 : 기질 특성인 자극추구와 성격 특성인 연대감에 대한 감각처리 사분 요인 모형이 유의미하였다. 감각처리 사분 요인 중 민감이 유의미하게 자극추구 기질과 연대감 성격을 예측하였다. 민감 관련 행동이 자주 나타날수록 아동의 자극추구는 높았고 연대감은 낮았다. 결론 : 본 연구는 유아 기질의 자극추구와 성격의 연대감이 감각처리와 관련됨을 확인하였다.

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 대학생의 감각처리가 기질과 성격 특성에 어떻게 영향을 주는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 대학생 참가자 107명이 편의표본 추출방법으로 2022년 9월에 모집되어 청소년/성인 감각프로파일(Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile; AASP)과 기질 및 성격 검사(Temperament and Character Inventory; TCI)를 작성하였다. 다중회귀모형을 사용하여 기질 척도(자극추구, 위험회피, 사회적 민감성, 인내력) 및 성격 척도(자율성, 연대감, 자기초월)의 각 준거 변인에 대한 감각처리 사분면(저등록, 감각추구, 감각민감, 감각회피) 예언 변인의 영향을 분석하였다. 결과 : 감각추구 행동이 빈번할수록 자극추구, 사회적 민감성, 인내력 기질 및 자율성, 자기초월 성격이 높게 나타났고 위험회피 기질은 낮게 나타났다. 저등록 행동이 빈번할수록 위험회피 기질이 높은 반면, 사회적 민감성과 인내력 기질 및 자율성 성격은 낮게 나타났다. 감각민감 행동이 빈번할수록 사회적 민감성 기질이 높았지만 감각회피 행동이 빈번할수록 사회적 민감성 기질이 낮았다. 결론 : 본 연구는 초기 성인기의 감각처리 패턴이 자극추구, 위험회피, 사회적 민감성, 인내력 기질 및 자율성, 자기초월 성격에 영향을 미침을 제시한다.

한국 대학생의 음주행위 예측모형의 성별 비교분석 (A Predictive Model Comparison by Sex for Alcohol Consumption Behavior among Korea University Students)

  • The purpose of this study was designed to develope and test the structural model that explains alcohol consumption behaviors among university students in Republic of Korea. The hypothetical model was constructed on the basis of the literature review and Pender's Health promotion model. Data was collected from questionnaires from 512 university students in Republic of Korea, from August to September, 2000. The reliability of instruments was adequate (Cronbach's alpha= .69-.90). Data analysis was done with SAS 6.12 for descriptive statistics and LISREL 8.13 program for covariance structural analysis. The results are as follows; 1. The overall fit of the hypothetical model to the data was moderate. Thus it was modified by male and female models. 2. The revised model has become parsimonious and had a better fit to the empirical data (male: χ2=87.21 p=.00, GFI=.97, AGFI= .94, NFI=.99, NNFI=1.0, CN=619.17, female: χ2=49.29 p=.31, GFI=.45, AGFI= .95, NFI=.99, NNFI=1.0, CN=370.02). 3. Self-efficacy was most significant factor and personality of novelty seeking, reward compensation, alcohol expectancy and drinking attitude have significant effects on male alcohol consumption behavior. 4. Personality of novelty seeking was most significant factor and personality of harm avoidance, friend influence, self-efficacies, alcohol expectancy and drinking attitude have significant effects on female alcohol consumption behavior.

강원도지역 실업계 고등학생의 우울, 기질 및 성격특성이 음주상태에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Depression, Temperament, Characteristic on Alcohol Drinking in Vocational High School Students in Gangwon-do)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the drinking status and to identify the impacts of depression, temperament, characteristic on drinking status in the vocational high school students. Methods: By using stratified sampling, 416 vocational high school students in Gangwon Do were selected and surveyed through self -administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 using $x^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Results: 88% of students had experienced of drinking. Depression was observed 59.1% of students from light to severe depression score. There was a positive correlation among drinking, the school records, novelty seeking, reward dependence and persistence. Also, there was a negative correlation among drinking, economic status, harm avoidance. The significant predictors of drinking were school records, depression, novelty seeking and persistence. Conclusion: These results suggest that vocational high school students who have the factors identified in this study are regarded as having the potential to drink. The results of this study can provide the information for the development of the health promotion program.

여대생의 음주행위 영향요인 (Factors Influencing Alcohol Consuming behavior of the Female University Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the factors influencing alcohol consuming behavior of the female university students to provide the basic data for a nursing intervention program to improve health and prohibit of alcohol consuming behavior. Method: The subjects were 134 female university students, studying at K university and K educational university in Chungnam province from April 1 to 20, 2002. The instruments were the alcohol consuming behavior scale, that is drinking intensity score, and alcohol problem developed by Shin(1998), refusal self-efficacy scale by Aas et. al.(1995), alcohol expectancy by Goldman at. al.(1989), TPQ scale by Cloninger(1991), depression scale modified by Shin(1977) using Zung(1965)' tool, family cohesion scale by Olson at. al.(1983). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, canonical correlation and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The most powerful predictor of alcohol consuming behavior was influence of friends-drinking(21.0%). A combination of economic status(8.0%), and personality of novelty seeking(3.0%), accounted for 32.0% of the variance in alcohol consuming behavior. Conclusion: I recommended that economic status, influence of friends drinking frequently, and personality of novelty seeking were contained of the developing nursing intervention program for decreasing the alcohol consuming behavior in female university students.
