고장력강 용접부의 해수중 부식피로균열 성장특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristics of corrosion-fatigue-crack propagation in the welded parts of high tensile steels under sea water)

  • Ships and offshore strrctures are exposed to the corrosive surroundings, and the extablishment of the design criteria and the elucidation on the influence by this environment are requested to maintain the safety and to demonstrate the function of the structure. In this paper, the fatigue-crack-growth behavior on the compact tension specimens of quenched, tempered HT80 grade steels and RA36 high tensile steels having a single edge fatigue cracked notch respectively, were investigated under the repeated tensile stress with constant stroke in sea water for the welded parts by shielded metal arc welding. Main results obtained are summerized as follows; 1. The fatigue-crack-growth rates da/dN in sea water appeared to be greater behavior than those in air environment at the same stress intensisy factor range $\DeltaK$. 2. The correlation data of da/dN$\DeltaK$ of the two kinds of high tensile steels in sea water showed no great difference, however, the correlation data of da/dN$\DeltaK/\sigma_y$($\sigma_y$ stands for yield strength of the material) showed that the fatigue-crack-growth behavior of RA36 plate is affected by active path corrosion(APC) mechanism, while that of HT80 grade plate is mainly affected by hydrogen embrittlement mechanism.

Rapamycin-resistant and torin-sensitive mTOR signaling promotes the survival and proliferation of leukemic cells

  • The serine/threonine kinase mTOR is essential for the phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3K) signaling pathway, and regulates the development and function of immune cells. Aberrant activation of mTOR signaling pathway is associated with many cancers including leukemia. Here, we report the contributions of mTOR signaling to growth of human leukemic cell lines and mouse T-cell acute leukemia (T-ALL) cells. Torin, an ATP-competitive mTOR inhibitor, was found to have both cytotoxic and cytostatic effects on U-937, THP-1, and RPMI-8226 cells, but not on Jurkat or K-562 cells. All cells were relatively resistant to rapamycin even with suppressed activity of mTOR complex 1. Growth of T-ALL cells induced by Notch1 was profoundly affected by torin partially due to increased expression of Bcl2l11 and Bbc3. Of note, activation of Akt or knockdown of FoxO1 mitigated the effect of mTOR inhibition on T-ALL cells. Our data provide insight on the effect of mTOR inhibitors on the survival and proliferation of leukemic cells, thus further improving our understanding on cell-context-dependent impacts of mTOR signaling.   • In this paper, a sliding mode controller of a fluid engine mount using MR (Magneto-Rheological) fluid was discussed When the MR fluid is applied to a fluid mount, resistance of MR fluid can be controlled by electro-magnetic valve installed in the inertia track. Since the rheological property of the MR fluid shows a function of shear rate, the damping characteristics of the mount will be change according to the frequency. Changing an applied magnetic field to the valve changes the property of the mount, such as the resistance of the MR fluid, the notch and the resonant frequencies due to the fluid passing, quantity of the fluid passing, the effective piston area of the volumetric damping and stiffness. Therefore, the fluid mount using MR fluid can be regarded as a variable structure system The sliding mode control known well as a particular type of variable structure control was introduced in this study. The sliding mode control, which has inherent robustness, is also expected to improve the control performance in the engine mount The sliding mode controller for the mount formatted by taking into account the response property with a time constant to MR fluid and the variable mount property. The motion equations of the fluid mount are derived from Newton's law of motion and used in numerical simulation. Numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the sliding mode controller.

Tension-Shear Experimental Analysis and Fracture Models Calibration on Q235 Steel

  • Tension-shear loading is a common loading condition in steel structures during the earthquake shaking. To study ductile fracture in structural steel under multiple stress states, experimental investigations on the different fracture mechanisms in Chinese Q235 steel were conducted. Different tension-shear loading conditions achieved by using six groups of inclined notch butterfly configurations covering pure shear, tension-shear and pure tension cases. Numerical simulations were carried out for all the specimens to determine the stress and strain fields within the critical sections. Two tension-shear fracture models were calibrated based on the hybrid experimental-numerical procedure. The equivalent fracture strain obtained from the round bar under tensile loading was used for evaluating these two models. The results indicated that the tension-shear criterion as a function of the shear fracture parameter had better performance in predicting the fracture initiation of structural steel under different loading conditions.

  • Recent experimental studies have been shown that strain gages can be employed to determine either static or dynamic stress intensity factors $K_{I}$ wiht relatively simple experiments. However, it does not usually provide a reliable value of stress intensity factor because of local yielding and limited regions for strain gage placement at the vicinity of the crack tip. This paper attempted to define a valid region and to indicate procedures for locating and orienting the strain gage to determine static toughness $K_{Is}$ accurately form one strain gage readings with respect to varying loadings. The strain gage methods was used for compact tension specimens made of Polycarbonate and PMMA(polymethyl methacrylate). Series expansions of the static and dynamic strain fields are applied. Strain gage orientation and location are then studied to optimize the strain response. Especially, in the dynamic experiment, the specimen employed is an oversized Charpy V-notch specimen which has been modified to provide significant constraint with a large elevation of the flow stress. The impact behavior of the specimen is monitored by placing strain gage near the crack tip. The dynamic toughness $K_{Id}$ is determined from the strain time traces of this gage.e.

  • 본 논문에서는 IMT-2000 단말기 송신기의 전력증폭기와 주파수 합성기 사이에 이용되는 통과 대역에서 적은 삽입 손실과 예리한 선택도를 갖는 소형의 고성능 협대역 대역통과 필터를 설계하였다. 설계된 새로운 구조의 마이크로스트립 선을 이용한 타원함수 협대역 대역통과 필터는 소형($3.2cm{\times}1.25cm$)이고, 3dB 대역폭이 3% 되는 특성을 갖고 있다. 또한 통과대역에서 삽입 손실이 2.5 dB 이하로 기존의 RF SAW 필터의 삽입 손실 3.2 dB보다 우수하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 차단 대역에서 -56 dB 이하의 두 개의 깊숙한 노치를 보였다.

Effect of 42 amino acid long amyloid-β peptides on Arabidopsis plants

  • Although the evolution of Arabidopsis thaliana and humans diverged approximately 1.6 billion years ago, recent studies have demonstrated that protein function and cellular processes involved in disease response remain remarkably conserved. Particularly, γ-secretase, a multisubunit protein complex that participates in intramembrane proteolysis (RIP) regulation, is also known to mediate the cleavage of more than 80 substrates including the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and the Notch receptor. Although the genes (PS1/2, APH-1, PEN-2, and NCT) coding for the γ-secretase complex components are present in plant genomes, their function remains largely uncharacterized. Given that the deposition of 42 amino acid long amyloid-β peptides (hAβ42) is thought to be one of the main causes of Alzheimer's disease, we aimed to examine the physiological effects of hAβ42 peptides on plants. Interestingly, we found that Arabidopsis protoplast death increased after 24 h of exposure to 3 or 5 µM hAβ42 peptides. Furthermore, transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing the hAβ42 gene exhibited changes in primary root length and silique phyllotaxy. Taken together, our results demonstrate that hAβ42 peptides, a metazoan protein, significantly affect Arabidopsis protoplast viability and plant morphology.

플럭스게이트 센서 기반 드론 자력탐사 시스템 개발 (A Development of Fluxgate Sensor-based Drone Magnetic Exploration System)

  • 본 연구에서는 플럭스게이트(fluxgate) 센서를 탑재한 드론 자력탐사 시스템 시작품(proto-type)을 개발하였다. 시스템의 하드웨어는 플럭스게이트 자력센서, 관성측정장치(inertial measurement unit, IMU), GPS, 통신 모듈로 구성되어 있다. 또한 측정된 자료를 지상제어시스템(ground control system, GCS)으로 실시간 전송하는 모니터링 소프트웨어를 개발하였다. 측정된 자력값은 띠통과 필터(notch filter)와 대역통과필터(band-pass filter)를 거쳐서 최종적으로 1Hz 데이터로 저장된다. 본 시스템 검증을 위해 자성체 반응을 확인하는 예비 실험이 먼저 수행되었고, 이후 철광산 두 곳에서 현장 실증을 실시하였다. 현장 실증으로 경기도 포천과 강원도 정선 지역에서 자체 개발한 드론 자력탐사 시스템과 한국지질자원연구원(KIGAM)이 제작한 무인비행선 자력탐사 시스템 결과와 비교하였다. 그 결과 예비 실험과 현장 실증을 통해 본 시스템은 야외 항공 자력탐사에 충분히 활용 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 양질의 항공자력탐사 자료 획득을 위해 잡음을 최소화하는 필터 기능 및 기구 성능을 고도화하는 연구가 요구된다.

성견 3급 분지부 병소에서 Dura mater와 $Guidor^{(R)}$사용후 치주조직 치유의 비교 연구 (The comparative study between Dura mater and $Guidor^{(R)}$ in the healing of the classIII furcation defects in dogs)

  • There are various treatment methods including barrier membranes in attaining periodontal regeneration and regaining the function of destructed periodontal tissues due to periodontal disease. Barrier membranes consist of non-Resorbable and resorbable types such as Dura mater and $Guidor^{(R)}$ used in the treatment of intrabony defects and classII furcation defects have been shown to be effectively increased the amount of new bone and cementum.In our study we used premolars with class III furcation defects created by removing the bone 4mm apically from CEJ in adult dogs and placed resorbable membrane Dura mater and $Guidor^{(R)}$ for the test group and flap operation was carried out for the control groups. The effect of membrane on junctional epithelium, alveloar bone, cementum, and gingival connective tisssue in the regeneration and healing potential of periodontal tissues was evaluated and healing results were evaluated histologically and histometrically 8 weeks following the surgical procedure. 1. In the clinical observation, there was no exposure of furcation defects in the control group, whereas slight membrane exposure was noted in the test group. 2. New bone was formed up to the level of the notch in the control group, whereas in the test group new bone formation was observed above the level of the notch. 3. New cementum was formed in both groups of the experiment. 4. The connective tissue observed between the new cementum and new bone in the test group were functionally orientated, compared to the irregular formation of connective tissues found in the control group. 5. Root resorption or ankylosis was not observed in any of the groups 6. The mean and median of the control group were 4.31% and 2.23% and for the Dura mater group were 27.85% and 15.57% respectively. There was no significant difference between Dura mater and the control group. 7. The mean and median of the control group were 4.31% and 2.23% and for the $Guidor^{(R)}$ group were 37.27% and 37.19% respectively. There was a significant difference in these two groups(P$Guidor^{(R)}$ were 37.27% and 37.19%. There was no significant difference between the two test groups. Thus, by using Dura mater and Guidor in classIII furcation defects, the predictable amount of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone regeneration may result.

  • 샤피 V-노치 충격 하중-변위 곡선으로부터 얻은 균열정지하중을 이용하여 원자로압력용기강의 균열정지파괴인성($K_{Ia}$)을 예측할 수 있는 방법을 모색하고 그 타당성을 고찰하였다. 샤피충격 하중-변위 곡선으로부터 얻은 균열정지하중값의 변화는 특성온도로 보정된 지수함수의 형태로 잘 표현될 수 있었다. 특성온도 $T_{Pa=2kN}$은 실험적인 무연성천이온도($T_{NDT}$) 및 $T_{41\;J}$과 높은 상관성을 나타냈으며, 원자로압력용기강의 균열정지파괴인성을 표현하는 새로운 특성온도로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 균열정지하중값의 변화는 파면으로부터 측정된 안정균열길이의 변화와 매우 높은 상관성을 나타내었다. 따라서 무딘 노치를 갖는 시편에 대한 계장화샤피충격시험을 통하여 균열정지하중 및 안정균열길이를 측정하믈써 비교적 정확하게 원자로압력용기강에 대한 하한값의 파괴인성치($K_{Ia}$)를 평가하는 것이 가능한 것으로 판단되었다.
