Throughput Analysis of Non-Transparent Mode in IEEE 802.16j Mobile Multi-Hop Relay Networks (IEEE 802.16j MMR 네트워크에서 Non-Transparent 중계모드의 전송률 분석)

  • In IEEE 802.16j MMR protocol, two modes about usage of RS are proposed; one is transparent mode to enhance data throughput and the other is non-transparent mode to extend coverage. In this paper, we focus on non-transparent mode and find that the mode can also improve data throughput. Therefore, we analyze data throughput on various RS topology and their extended coverage area by simulation in IEEE 802.16j non-transparent mode. We also compare the simulation results with the single MR-BS system of which coverage is extended by higher transmission power. From the comparisons of simulation results, we see that higher throughput can be obtained in the proposed non-transparent mode.

  • In IEEE 802.16j standard document, two modes about usage of RS are proposed; one is transparent mode to enhance data throughput and the other is non-transparent mode to extend coverage. In this paper, we focus on non-transparent mode and find that the mode also affects data throughput. We analyze data throughput on various RS topology and their extended coverage area in non-transparent mode. From the analysis, we see that higher throughput can be obtained when MR-BS and RS are located distantly.

  • In this paper, we investigate a new method to measure the thickness of thin transparent objects utilizing a step index multi-mode optical fiber sensor. The method mainly depends on the refraction rate of transparent target, the diameter of optical fibers and the distance to reflector. We confirmed the effects of these parameters through the experimental verification tests. The comparison between the theoretical vs. analytical results shows good agreements with each other. The proposed model also enables users to measure the thickness of thin transparent objects without considering the reflection from the target. This approach provides simple, cost-effective and non-contact solutions to measure the thickness.

  • HPC(High Performance Computing) is the computing system that connects a number of computing nodes with high performance interconnect network. In the HPC, interconnect network technology is one of the key player to make high performance systems, and mainly, Infiniband or Ethernet are used for interconnect network technology. Nowadays, PCIe interface is main interface within computer system in that host CPU connects high performance peripheral devices through PCIe bridge interface. For connecting between two computing nodes, PCIe Non-Transparent Bridge(NTB) standard can be used, however it basically connects only two hosts with its original standards. To give cost-effective interconnect network interface with PCIe technology, we develop a prototype of interconnect network system with PCIe NTB. In the prototyped system, computing nodes are connected to each other via PCIe NTB interface constructing switchless interconnect network such as ring network. Also, we have implemented prototyped data sharing mechanism on the prototyped interconnect network system. The designed PCIe NTB-based interconnect network system is cost-effective as well as it provides competitive data transferring bandwidth within the interconnect network.

  • 다수의 계산노드를 초고성능 상호연결망으로 연결하여 클러스터 시스템으로 구성하는 HPC에서 인터 콘넥션 기술로 Infiniband, Ethernet등의 기술이 많이 사용된다. PCIe 기반의 노드간 직접 연결 기술로는 NTB(Non-Transparent Bridge) 기반의 인터콘넥션 기술이 있으나, NTB의 기본은 두 노드간에 분리된 메모리를 공유하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 다중 NTB 포트에 직접 연결된 다수의 호스트들간에 무스위치 네트워크를 구성하여 NTB 통신을 이용한 데이터 공유 방법의 설계와 구현에 대해서 다룬다. 각 호스트에 연결된 두 개의 NTB포트를 이용해서 링 네트워크를 구성하고, 링 네트워크 상에서 NTB 인터컨넥션을 이용한 데이터 공유 방식의 구현을 하였다. 이와 같이 PCIe 기반 무스위치 네트워크를 통해서 Cost-Effective한 HPC 상호연결망을 구성할 수 있다.

  • To fabricate mono layer green sheet (MLGS) of transparent dielectric for PDP front panel, dispersion of transparent dielectric slurry and various properties of green sheets were examined as a function of amount and kinds of organic additives. Sedimentation height and viscosity of slurry were measured to determine proper types and amount of dispersant in non-aqueous system transparent dielectric slurry. Many MLGS having various ratios of the transparent dielectric glass frit, binder and plasticizer were fabricated. Finally we got the transparent dielectric layer of high transparency and free from residual pore might be remained in the gap between the electrodes.

  • This experiment was conducted to clarify the effect of double layer mulching on reducing the labor required to weed control and Leaf sheath training of the garlic cultivation. Six mulching methods(non-mulching, transparent P.E., rice hull+transparent P.E., sawdust+transparent P.E., rice straw+transparent P.E., black P.E. film+ transparent P.E.) were used for the experiment, and transparent P.E film was removed on April 10. Weed occurrence was in the order of black P.E. film< transparent P.E

  • In this paper, we evaluate the system throughput and the method of optimal wireless resource allocation for the access zone (AZ) and relay zone (RZ) in downlink when the cell coverage is extended using the non-transparent Relay Station (RS) in a 2-hop cellular relay system based on IEEE802.16j, which uses the OFDMA-TDD structure. For the analyses, we first introduce the MAC (Media Access Control) frame structure in the non-transparent mode, then we investigate the interfering elements in both AZ and RZ for the network devices such as the Mobile Station (MS) and RS. Through computer simulation, we analyze the cell coverage extension and system throughput in terms of the distance between Base Station (BS) and RS, then we present the amount of the optimal allocation of wireless resource for the AZ and RZ in downlink using our results.

Effects of Different Mulching Materials on Rhizome Yield and Crude Saponin Contents in Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge (피복비닐 종류에 따른 지모의 근경수량 및 조사포닌 함량)

  • In this study effect of different mulching materials on yield and crude saponin contents in Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The rhizome yield of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was of which increased 16.7% more than those of non-mulching cultivation. The rhizome yield of young-plant propagation type in green PE mulching and transparent PE mulching cultivations were of which increased 29.4% and 26.5%, respectively more than those of non-mulching cultivation. The contents of methanal extract of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching and black PE mulching cultivations were of increased each 31.0%, 15.4% more than those of non-mulching cultivation. Crude saponin contents of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was increased up to 30.3% compared to those of non-mulching cultivation. However, the crude saponin contents of seed propagation type in green PE mulching and black & white PE mulching cultivations were not affected by the non-mulching cultivation. Crude saponin contents of young-plant propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was increased 24.0% and 15.4% more than those of green PE mulching and black PE mulching cultivations.

Thermal Performance of Building Envelope with Transparent Insulation Wall (건물 외피 투과형단열 벽체의 열성능 해석 연구)

  • Global efforts have made to reduce energy consumption and $CO_2$ gas emission. One of the weakest parts for energy loss through the whole building components is building envelopes. Lots of technologies to increase the thermal performance of building envelopes have been introduced in recent year. Transparent Insulation Wall(TIW) is a new technology for building insulation and has been function both solar transmittance and thermal insulation. A mathematical model of a Transparent Insulation Wall equipped with south wall was proposed in order to predict thermal performance under varying climates(summer and winter). Unsteady state heat transfer equations were set up using an energy balance equation and solved using Gauss-Seidel iteration solution procedure. The thermal performance of the TIW determined from a wall surface and air layer temperature, non-airconditioned room temperature and air conditioning load. As a result, this numerical study shows that the TIW is effective in an air conditioning load reduction. Further experimental study is required to establish complete TIW system.
