  • The forging limit curves of sintered porous metals have been calculated, in terms of the two principal strains, by the Lee-Kuhn initial imperfection model. The various yield functions for porous metal have been applied to the initial imperfection model. When the value of initial imperfection ratio equals the value of initial relative density of the sintered porous metals, the calculation values are in good agreement with the measured data. The slopes of the forging limit curves are about 0.5 as in the case of non-porous metals.

  • In this study, the free and forced vibration analysis of micro sandwich plate with porous core layer and magneto-electric face sheets based on modified couple stress theory and first order shear deformation theory under simply supported boundary conditions is illustrated. It is noted that the core layer is composed from balsa wood and also piezo magneto-electric facesheets are made of BiTiO3-CoFe2O4. Using Hamilton's principle, the equations of motion for micro sandwich plate are obtained. Also, the Navier's method for simply support boundary condition is used to solve these equations. The effects of applied voltage, magnetic field, length to width ratio, thickness of porous to micro plate thickness ratio, type of porous, coefficient of porous on the frequency ratio are investigated. The numerical results indicate that with increasing of the porous coefficient, the non-dimensional frequency increases. Also, with an increase in the electric potential, the non-dimensional frequency decreases, while and with increasing of the magnetic potential is vice versa.

  • All citizens over 17 year old living in Korea have to be fingerprinted to obtain a certificate of resident registration. For this reason, human identification through fingerprints has been used actively in crime scene investigation. The fingerprint is so unique that it is one of the most certain ways to identify oneself and it can differentiate between genetically identical twins. Fingerprints gained in crime scene indicate a direction of criminal investigation in conjecturing a suspect. Fingerprints help a reunion of family got scattered for a long time and make it possible to get a personal identification for missing person who met with natural calamity. We developed a new fingerprinting method using safranine O, so as to develop fingerprints on the adhesive tapes and non-porous papers in various physical environments. Results were compared to the preexisting fingerprinting method, the minutiae numbers of fingerprints were greatly increased in our newly developed safranine O fingerprinting method. This newly developed safranine O method showed a quantity and quality comparable to the preexisting fingerprinting method routinely used in these days. In our hands, the safranine O fingerprinting method is another easy and obvious choice when the forensic case sample is available for fingerprints on the adhesive tapes and non-porous papers.

  • This study surveyed on the synthesis of one-step type hydrophilic non-porous PU resin and the physical property of the coated fabric for the garment. Three kinds of chain extender such as MEG, 1,4-BD and NPG were used for the preparation of one-step type hydrophilic non-porous PU resin in order to examine the effect of chain extender on the physical properties of PU-coated fabric. And the effects of isocyanate on the physical properties of PU coated fabric were surveyed by mixing with various TDI and MDI ratios. In addition, the physical properties of the coated fabric treated with one-step type hydrophilic non-porous PU resin were examined according to the pre-treatment conditions such as cire finishing. Finally, the washing durability of the coated fabrics was assessed. The coated fabrics treated with PU resin synthesized with PEG1000, MEG and TDI/MDI (6/4) showed the best physical properties. Considering the pre-treatment conditions, best performance of hydraulic pressure, water vapor permeability, and water repellency were obtained with top roller rotation ratio of 150% under 50 ton pressure at $170^{\circ}C$.

  • The non porous and porous 4-vinylpyridine-divinylbenzene ion exchange resins were synthesized by the suspension polymerization method. The functional groups of these resins were identified by means of infrared adsorption spectroscopy. The pore volume and pore spectra of these synthesized resins were determined with a mercury porosimeter. The influence of diluent and percentage of divinylbenzene on the pore size and volume of the porous 4-vinylpyridine-divinylbenzene copolymer, P-4VPDVB, 50-100 mesh was discussed. The ion exchange capacity of non-porous and porous 4-vinylpyridine divinylbenzene resins was 5.0meq/g, respectively.

  • Microsotructure designed porous ceramics of calcium hydroxyapatite $(Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6(OH)_2)$ were prepared by hydrothermal method. The particle size, shape, and the micro-pore size of the porous hydroxyapatite ceramics could becontrolled. The hydroxyapatite was non-stoichiometric apatite with calcium deficient compositions (Ca/P ratio < 1.67). The composition of non-stoichiometric hydroxyapatite ceramics could be controlled from 1.50 to 1.63 in Ca/P ratio. The hydroxyapatite ceramics preparedc at $105^{\circ}C$ under the saturated vapor pressure for 20h were composed of rod-shaped crystals with about 10$\mu\textrm{m}$ in length with the mean aspect ratio of 40. The porous ceramics of calcium deficient hydroxyapatite had about 45% porosity with the inter-connecting pore structure. Porous hydroxyapatite ceramics prepared hydrothermally had the compressive strength of about 10 to 30 MPa. In addition, porous ceramics of $\beta$-tricalcium phosphate ($\beta-Ca_3(PO_4)_2$) were prepared from the calcium deficient hydroxyapatite.

  • Eshelby type micro mechanics model with a newly developed piezoelectric Eshelby tensor is proposed for predicting the effective electroelastic properties of the piezoelectric composite. The model is applied for piezoelectric solids containing both porosities and metal inhomogeneities. The effective electroelastic moduli of the composites such as stiffness, piezoelectric constants, and dielectric constants are predicted by the present model, which are extensively compared with the existing experimental results from the literatures. The validity of Eshelby type model for predicting the effective properties of the composite is thoroughly examined. It can be concluded from this study that a new mechanism is needed to compute correctly the dielectric constants among the effective properties of the composites.

  • Ni films with a thickness of 700-800 nm were deposited on carbon fiber layers using electroless deposition, and surface structures and chemical properties of these films with various annealing temperatures (300, 600 and $900^{\circ}C$) were studied. $600^{\circ}C$-annealing under atmospheric conditions resulted in formation of porous surface structures with a mean pore size of ~100 nm, whereas the other samples showed non-porous surface structures. $600^{\circ}C$-annealed Ni film showed much higher reactivities for toluene adsorption and CO oxidation comparing to other non-porous surfaces.

  • Most of domestic pavement were non-permeable. However, in foreign country although it wasn't entirely satisfied, porous pavement was partially utilized with footpaths and soft-roadways. In this study, experiments were carried out to investigate the properties fundamental of porous concrete pavement. As a result of experiments, it was concluded that the coefficient of permeability was increased in proportion to continuous void ratio and decreased in proportion to S/a ratio and unit cement contents. On the other hand, the strength of porous concrete pavement was in inverse proportion to the void ratio.

  • A field study of wind-induced internal pressures in a flexible and porous industrial warehouse with a single dominant opening, of various sizes for a range of moderate wind speeds and directions, is reported in this paper. Comparatively weak resonance of internal pressure for oblique windward opening situations, and hardly discernible at other wind directions, is attributed to the inherent leakage and flexibility in the envelope of the building in addition to the moderate wind speeds encountered during the tests. The measured internal pressures agree well with the theoretical predictions obtained by numerically simulating the analytical model of internal pressure for a porous and flexible building with a dominant opening. Ratios of the RMS and peak internal to opening external pressures obtained in the study are presented in a non-dimensional format along with other published full scale measurements and compared with the non-dimensional design equation proposed in recent literature.
