In this paper, we consider the stability bound for uncertainty of delayed state variables in the linear discrete interval time-varying systems with time-varying delay time. The considered system has an interval time-varying system matrix for non-delayed states and is perturbed by the unstructured time-varying uncertainty in delayed states with time-varying delay time within fixed interval. Compared to the previous results which are derived for time-invariant cases and can not be extended to time-varying cases, the new stability bound in this paper is applicable to time-varying systems in which every factors are considered as time-varying variables. The proposed result has no limitation in applicable systems and is very powerful in the aspects of feasibility compared to the previous. Furthermore. the new bound needs no complex numerical algorithms such as LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) equation or upper solution bound of Lyapunov equation. By numerical examples, it is shown that the proposed bound is able to include the many existing results in the previous literatures and has better performances in the aspects of expandability and effectiveness.

Retention behavior of lanthanide-$\alpha$HiBA complexes was studied on the cation exchanger (LC-18 coated with $C_{20}H_{41}SO_4^-$). An equation predicting retention of lanthanides in isocratic or gradient elution with sodium ion and $\alpha$-HiBA concentration was derived from ion exchange equilibria of metal-ligand complex system, respectively. The relations between log k' and log [Na$^+$] /log [$\alpha$-HiBA) showed non-linearity in isocratic elution. In gradient elution a good linearity between log k' vs log R was obtained. The values of slopes (log k / log R) gave good agreements between calculation and experiment. Individual capacity factors ($k'_{Ln}^{3+}, k'_{LnL}^{2+}, k'{LnL2+}) and stability constant (${\beta}_1$, ${\beta}_2$, ${\beta}_3$) of lanthanide-$\alpha$HiBA complexes were calculated by the non-linear least square fittings using the retention equation. The correlation coefficients of lanthanides were shown better than 0.9996 between experiment and calculation.

The free vibration of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by hydro dynamic bearings (HDB) in an HDD is analyzed by FEM. The spinning flexible disk is described using Kirchhoff plate theory and von Karman non-linear strain, and its rigid body motion is also considered. It is discretized by annular sector element. The rotating spindle which includes the clamp, hub, permanent magnet and yoke, is modeled by Timoshenko beam including the gyroscopic effect. The flexible supporting structure with a complex shape which includes stator core, housing, base plate, sleeve and thrust pad is modeled by using a 4-node tetrahedron element with rotational degrees of freedom to satisfy the geometric compatibility. The dynamic coefficients of HDB are calculated from the HDB analysis program, which solves the perturbed Reynolds equation using FEM. Introducing the virtual nodes and the rigid link constraints defined in the center of HDB, beam elements of the shaft are connected to the solid elements of the sleeve and thrust pad through the spring and damper element. The global matrix equation obtained by assembling the finite element equations of each substructure is transformed to the state-space matrix-vector equation, and the associated eigen value problem is solved by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. The validity of this research is verified by comparing the numerical results of the natural frequencies with the experimental ones. Also the effect of supporting structures to the natural modes of the total HDD system is rigorously analyzed.

Greenhouse have been developed to provide the plants with good environmental conditions for cultivation crop, two major factors of which are the inside air temperature and humidity. The inside temperature are influenced by the heating systems, ventilators and for systems among others, which in turn are geverned by some type of controller. Likewise, humidity environment is the result of complex mass exchanges between the inside air and the several elements of the greenhouse and the outside boundaries. Most of the existing models are based on the energy balance method and heat balance equation for modelling the heat and mass fluxes and generating dynamic elements. However, greenhouse are classified as complex system, and need to make a sophisticated modeling. Furthermore, there is a difficulty in using classical control methods for complex process system due to the process are non linear and multi-output(MIMO) systems. In order to predict the time evolution of conditions in certain greenhouse as a function, we present here to use of recurrent neural networks(RNN) which has been used to implement the direct dynamics of the inside temperature and inside humidity of greenhouse. For the training, we used algorithm of a backpropagation Through Time (BPTT). Because the environmental parameters are shared by all time steps in the network, the gradient at each output depends not only on the calculations of the current time step, but also the previous time steps. The training data was emulated to 13 input variables during March 1 to 7, and the model was tested with database file of March 8. The RMSE of results of the temperature modeling was $0.976^{\circ}C$, and the RMSE of humidity simulation was 4.11%, which will be given to prove the performance of RNN in prediction of the greenhouse environment.
This paper proposes an efficient approach for the structural topology optimization of bi-directional functionally graded structures by incorporating popular radial basis functions (RBFs) into an implicit level set (ILS) method. Compared to traditional element density-based methods, a level set (LS) description of material boundaries produces a smoother boundary description of the design. The paper develops RBF implicit modeling with multiquadric (MQ) splines, thin-plate spline (TPS), exponential spline (ES), and Gaussians (GS) to define the ILS function with high accuracy and smoothness. The optimization problem is formulated by considering RBF-based nodal densities as design variables and minimizing the compliance objective function. A LS-RBF optimization method is proposed to transform a Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equation (PDE) into a system of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) over the entire design domain using a collocation formulation of the method of lines design variables. The paper presents detailed mathematical expressions for BiDFG beams topology optimization with two different material models: continuum functionally graded (CFG) and mechanical functionally graded (MFG). Several numerical examples are presented to verify the method's efficiency, reliability, and success in accuracy, convergence speed, and insensitivity to initial designs in the topology optimization of two-dimensional (2D) structures. Overall, the paper presents a novel and efficient approach to topology optimization that can handle bi-directional functionally graded structures with complex geometries.

The governing equation for a dome-type shallow spatial truss subjected to a transverse load is expressed in the form of the Duffing equation, and it can be derived by considering geometrical non-linearity. When this model under constant load exceeds the critical level, unstable behavior is appeared. This phenomenon changes sensitively as the number of free-nodes increases or depends on the imperfection of the system. When the load is a periodic function, more complex behavior and low critical levels can be expected. Thus, the dynamic unstable behavior and the change in the critical point of the 3-free-nodes space truss system were analyzed in this work. The 4-th order Runge-Kutta method was used in the system analysis, while the change in the frequency domain was analyzed through FFT. The sinusoidal wave and the beating wave were utilized as the periodic load function. This unstable situation was observed by the case when all nodes had same load vector as well as by the case that the load vector had slight difference. The results showed the critical buckling level of the periodic load was lower than that of the constant load. The value is greatly influenced by the period of the load, while a lower critical point was observed when it was closer to the natural frequency in the case of a linear system. The beating wave, which is attributed to the interference of the two frequencies, exhibits slightly more behavior than the sinusoidal wave. And the changing of critical level could be observed even with slight changes in the load vector.
In this paper, the new stability condition of linear discrete interval time-varying systems with time-varying delay time is proposed. The considered system has interval time-varying system matrices for both non-delayed and delayed states with time-varying delay time within given interval values. The proposed condition is derived by using Lyapunov stability theory and expressed by very simple inequality. The restricted stability issue on the interval time-invariant system is expanded to interval time-varying system and a powerful stability condition which is more comprehensive than the previous is proposed. As a results, it is possible to avoid the introduction of complex linear matrix inequality (LMI) or upper solution bound of Lyapunov equation in the derivation of sufficient condition. Also, it is shown that the proposed result can include the many existing stability conditions in the previous literatures. A numerical example in the pe revious works is modified to more general interval system and shows the expandability and effectiveness of the new stability condition.
In this paper, we consider the stability condition for the linear discrete systems with time-varying delay and unstructured uncertainty. The considered system has time invariant system matrices for non-delayed and delayed state variables, but its delay time is time-varying within certain interval and it is subjected to nonlinear unstructured uncertainty which only gives information on uncertainty magnitude. In the many previous literatures, the time-varying delay and unstructured uncertainty can not be dealt in simultaneously but separately. In the paper, new stability conditions are derived for the case to which two factors are subjected together and compared with the existing results considering only one factor. The new stability conditions improving many previous results are proposed as very effective inequality equations without complex numerical algorithms such as LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) or Lyapunov equation. By numerical examples, it is shown that the proposed conditions are able to include the many existing results and have better performances in the aspects of expandability and effectiveness.
This paper describes 2.5D induced polarization (IP) modeling and inversion algorithms using complex resistivity. The complex resistivity method has merits for acquiring more valuable information about hydraulic parameters and pore fluid than the conventional IP methods. The IP modeling and inversion algorithms are developed by allowing complex arithmetic in existing DC modeling and inversion algorithms. The IP modeling and inversion algorithms use a 2.5D DC finite-element algorithm and a damped least-squares method with smoothness constraints, respectively. The accuracy of the IP modeling algorithm is verified by comparing its responses of two synthetic models with two different approaches: linear filtering for a three-layer model and an integral equation method for a 3D model. Results from these methods are well matched to each other. The inversion algorithm is validated by a synthetic example which has two anomalous bodies, one is more conductive but non-polarizable than the background, and the other is polarizable but has the same resistivity as the background. From the inverted section, we can cleary identify each anomalous body with different locations. Furthermore, in order to verify its efficiency to the real filed example, we apply the inversion algorithm to another three-layer model which includes phase anomaly in the second layer.
