The present paper deals with the analytical solution of a functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) cylinder in the magnetic field under mechanical, thermal and electrical loads. All mechanical, thermal and electrical properties except Poisson ratio can be varied continuously and gradually along the thickness direction of the cylinder based on a power function. The cylinder is assumed to be axisymmetric. Steady state heat transfer equation is solved by considering the appropriate boundary conditions. Using Maxwell electro dynamic equation and assumed magnetic field along the axis of the cylinder, Lorentz's force due to magnetic field is evaluated for non homogenous state. This force can be employed as a body force in the equilibrium equation. Equilibrium and Maxwell equations are two fundamental equations for analysis of the problem. Comprehensive solution of Maxwell equation is considered in the present paper for general states of non homogeneity. Solution of governing equations may be obtained using solution of the characteristic equation of the system. Achieved results indicate that with increasing the non homogenous index, different mechanical and electrical components present different behaviors along the thickness direction. FGP can control the distribution of the mechanical and electrical components in various structures with good precision. For intelligent properties of functionally graded piezoelectric materials, these materials can be used as an actuator, sensor or a component of piezo motor in electromechanical systems.
This simulator is developed for the analysis of a MOSFET based on Thermally Coupled Energy Transport Model(TCETM). The simulator has the ability to calculate not only stationary characteristics but also non - stationary characteristics of a MOSFET. It solves basic semiconductor devices equations including Possion equation, current continuity equations for electrons and holes, energy balance equation for electrons and heat flow equation, using finite difference method. The conventional semiconductor device simulation technique, based on the Drift-Diffusion Model (DDM), neglects the thermal and other energy-related properties of a miniaturized device. I, therefore, developed a simulator based on the Thermally Coupled Energy Transport Model (TCETM) which treats not only steady-state but also transient phenomena of such a small-size MOSFET. In particular, the present paper investigates the breakdown characteristics in transient conditions. As a result, we found that the breakdown voltage has been largely underestimated by the DDM in transient conditions.

Overlay networks have been widely deployed upon the Internet by Service Providers (SPs) to provide improved network services. However, the interaction between each overlay and traffic engineering (TE) as well as the interaction among co-existing overlays may occur. In this paper, we adopt both non-cooperative and cooperative game theory to analyze these interactions, which are collectively called hybrid interaction. Firstly, we model a situation of the hybrid interaction as an n+1-player non-cooperative game, in which overlays and TE are of equal status, and prove the existence of Nash equilibrium (NE) for this game. Secondly, we model another situation of the hybrid interaction as a 1-leader-n-follower Stackelberg-Nash game, in which TE is the leader and co-existing overlays are followers, and prove that the cost at Stackelberg-Nash equilibrium (SNE) is at least as good as that at NE for TE. Thirdly, we propose a cooperative coalition mechanism based on Shapley value to overcome the inherent inefficiency of NE and SNE, in which players can improve their performance and form stable coalitions. Finally, we apply distinct genetic algorithms (GA) to calculate the values for NE, SNE and the assigned cost for each player in each coalition, respectively. Analytical results are confirmed by the simulation on complex network topologies.
The influence of magnetic fields on chemical processes has long been the subject of interest to researchers. For this time numerous investigations show that commonly the effect of a magnetic field on chemical reactions is insignificant with impact less than 10 percent. However, there are some papers that point to the observation of external magnetic field effect on chemical and biochemical systems actually having a significant impact on the reactions. Thus, of great interest is an active search for rather simple but realistic models, that are based on physically explicit assumptions and able to account for a strong effect of low magnetic fields. The present work theoretically deals with two models explaining how an applied weak magnetic field might influence the steady state of a non-equilibrium chemical system. It is assumed that external magnetic field can have effect on the rates of radical reactions occurring in a system. This, in turn, leads to bifurcation of the nonequilibrium stationary state and, thus, to a drastic change in the properties of chemical systems (temperature and reagent concentration).
An equilibrium approach is suggested as an effective tool for the analysis of sheet metal forming processes on the basis of force balance together with geometric relations and plasticity theroy. In computing a force balance equation, it is required to define a geometric curve approximating the shape of the sheet metal at any step of deformation from the geometric interaction between the die and the deforming sheet. Then the geometic informations for contacting and non-contacting sections of the sheet metal such as the number and length of both non-contact region, contact angle, and die radius of contact section are known from the geometric forming curve and utilized for optimization by force balance equation. In computation, the sheet material is assumed to be of normal amisotropy and rigid-phastic workhardening. It has been shown that there are good agreements between the equilibrium approach and FEM computation for the benchmark test example and auto-body panels whose sections can be assumed in plane-strain state. The proposed equilibrium approach can thus be used as a robust computational method in estimating the forming defects and forming severity rather quickly in the die design stage.
The electron energy probability function (EEPF) is of significant importance since the plasma chemistry such as the rate of ionization is determined by the electron energy distribution function. It is usually assumed to be Maxwell distribution for 0-D global model. Meanwhile, it has been observed experimentally that the form of EEPF of Ar plasma changes from being two-temperature to Druyvesteyn like as the gas pressure increases. Thus, to apply the 0-D global model of Maxwellian distribution to the non-Maxwellian plasma, we investigated the relative contribution of two distinct electrons with different temperatures. The contributions of cold/hot electrons to the equilibrium state of the plasma have attracted interest and been researched. The contributions to the power and particle balance of cold/hot electrons were studied by comparing the result of the global model considering all combinations of electron temperatures with that of 1-D Particle-in-Cell and Monte Carlo collision (PIC-MCC) simulation and the results of studies were analyzed physically. Furthermore, comparisons term by term for variations of the contribution of cold/hot electrons at different driving currents are presented.
In this study, the characteristics of lead removal by PVA and alginate bead which used widely as immobilizing agents were investigated, and the difference of removal amounts between pure PVA/alginate bead and Sargassum thunbergii immobilized bead was studied. All PVA beads, pure and S. thunbergii immobilized, reached an equilibrium state in about 1 hour, and S. thunbergii immobilized bead adsorbed more lead than pure one. But in the case of alginate beads, they needed much time, about 5 hours, to reach an equilibrium state, and adsorbed lead four times higher than PVA beads. Therefore, it was considered that alginate beads had more mass transfer resistance and function groups which adsorb lead such as hydroxyl, carboxyl and etc. than PVA bead. To examine the continuous usage of alginate beads, the process of adsorption/desorption of lead was conducted repeatedly. As the process proceeded, the amounts of lead adsorption decrease, so it was indicated that the non-desorbed lead from alginate bead at first adsorption/desorption process remained constantly.
It is observed that an appreciable short-circuit current (Is) flows by the time variation of temperature without applying external field in M1(metal)-P(polymer)-M2(metal)system. In M1-P-M2(A1) system, Is flows in the direction from the electrode(A1) having a lower workfunction to the counter electrode(M1) during heating and its magnitude increases as the thickness of polymer is decreased and as the heating rate is raised. The sign of Is is reversed in lower temperature region (under glass transition temperature) when the direction of temerature variation is changed during heating and cooling. From these experimental results, we can sugest that Is flows in the external short-circuit during the space charge distribution formed around both interfacial surfaces (M1-P and P-M2) is continuously maintained in the non-equilibrium state but not in equilibrium state.
In recent studies, it was reported that there existed the temperature discontinuity at a liquid-vapor interface in an equilibrium state. However, from the viewpoint of the classical thermodynamics, it is highly questionable result although considering that the experiments related with a boundary layer is very difficult due to the extremely thin thickness of it. To clarify whether the temperature discontinuity over a liquid-vapor interface really exists, the computer simulations were performed. From the simulation results, it could be concluded that the misconception in a temperature calculation might result in non-uniform temperature distributions over an interface under an equilibrium state.
The shape of a galaxy's spectral energy distribution ranging from ultraviolet (UV) to infrared (IR) wavelengths provides crucial information about the underlying stellar populations, metal contents, and star-formation history. Therefore, analysis of the SED is the main means through which astronomers study distant galaxies. However, interstellar dust absorbs and scatters UV and optical light, re-emitting the absorbed energy in the mid-IR and Far-IR. I present the updated 3D Monte-Carlo radaitive transfer code MoCafe to compute the radiative transfer of stellar, dust emission through a dusty medium. The code calculates the emission expected from dust not only in pure thermal equilibrium state but also in non-thermal equilibrium state. The stochastic heating of very small dust grains and/or PAHs is calculated by solving the transition probability matrix equation between different vibrational, internal energy states. The calculation of stochastic heating is computationally expensive. A pilot study of radiative transfer models of SEDs in clumpy (turbulent), galactic environments, which has been successfully used to understand the Calzetti attenuation curves in Seon & Draine (2016), is also presented.
