  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to present the direction of donation collection activities of non-profit organizations after the COVID-19 crisis by examining the perception of donations from the general public's perspective. The researchers conducted a convenience sampling of general citizens in South Korea, and the survey had been taken by sending e-mails for two weeks from November 11 to November 24, 2020. The total number of questionnaires that we send were 397, however 314 questionnaires were used for analysis, excluding 83 questionnaires that seemed insincerely marked. According to analysis result, non-profit organizations need to strengthen their digital capability in response to the changes in the fund-raising methods in the era of digital transformation. In addition, these factors such as transparency, accountability, and the interaction with donors for sustaining and improving their loyalty are turned out to be crucial. We hope that the results of this study will present the direction of the donation collection strategy of non-profit organizations and be used as basic data for further research.

  • We collected and analyzed data from e3data.org, which is a global registry of data repository services. We analyzed data profile for three leading Asian economies-Korea, China, and Japan-against the reference data for other participating countries. In particular, we examined how individual countries contribute to the repository, organizational type, versioning and product quality management, and subject tagging. We come to the conclusion that all three Asian countries still fall short in terms of involvement. As for participating institutions, there are 7 from Korea, 64 from China, and 120 from Japan. Among Chinese organizations, 3 are profit, 61 non-profit, and 37 organizations (which yields 1.8%) are involved in repository building. In Japan, there is 1 is commercial and 119 non-profit organizations, of which 57 (3.0%) are involved in repository building. All 7 organizations from Korea are non-profit, and 6 of them (0.3%) are involved in repository building. As regards versioning and product quality management, Korea, China, and Japan are up to par with other countries. Subject analysis reveals that Korea contributes more to geosciences, Japan to physics and geosciences, while China, unlike Korea and Japan, is more active in life sciences. It is hoped that this study will help planning domestic infrastructure for research data repositories with proper consideration for specific research domains and national characteristics.

  • In this study, we investigate the effects of disclosure and high-quality audit on donations to charitable organizations in Korea. We find that the mandatory disclosure of financial information and high-quality audit is significantly and positively related to donations to charitable organizations. We also find that charitable organizations audited by Big 4 audit firms have greater likelihood to receive more donations, compared to those audited by non-Big 4 audit firms. Furthermore, we find that those positive associations are more pronounced for smaller charitable organizations. Collectively, those results imply that, as in the profit-making sector, disclosure and high-quality audit play a critical role in enhancing accountability and transparency of financial reporting and revenue for charitable organizations.

  • It a very important part to keep a good relationship with supporters to promote the activities smoothly in non-profit-making organizations. The donation, a financial source of non-profit-making organizations, and the volunteer activities of supporters are also born from the identity with the supportive organizations. This research is a study about the relationship sustainability with supporters and supportive organizations, which is practiced with the variables of image, service quality, ethics, activity, satisfaction, trust, and intent of sustaining their support of supportive organizations. This research aims at making the model of relationship-sustaining intent of supporters and supportive organizations on the bass of the relationship between the conceptual definition about supportive activities and the variables influencing the supportive activities, and at suggesting the marketing points of non-profit-making organizations on the base of the model. This is because the concept of service quality about non-profit-making organizations has not been formed yet, and so it does not influence the trust or the satisfaction. Other assumptions seemed to have some relationship. As a result, in order to increase the intent of sustaining support and the trust in organizations, they need to inform supporters of the image or the results of activities by means of active marketing activities.
