Many fire-fighters suffer from the burn injuries, and the severe burns are the most catastrophic injury a person can survive, resulting in pain, emotional stress, and tremendous economic costs. It is important to understand the physiology of burns for prevention from skin burns and a successful treatment of a burn patient. But a few researches have been presented because the complex physical phenomena of our inside body like non-linearity characteristics of human skin make them difficult. Thus in this study, thermal analyses of biological tissues exposed to a flash fire causing severe tissue damage were studied by using a finite difference method based on the Pennes bio-heat equation. The several previous models for skin thermo-physical properties were summarized, and the calculated values with those models of tissue injury were compared with the results obtained by the previous experiment for low heat flux conditions. The skin models with good agreement could be found. Also, the skin burn injury prediction results with the best model for high heat flux conditions by flash flame were suggested.

Terzaghi's one-dimensional consolidation theory has some important assumption, which can't be applicable to predict the behavior of soft clay ground. Especially, predictions using infinitesimal strain and linear material function related with permeability can give rise to mistake in comparison with the result of real behavior in site. For this reason, Gibson et al. established a rigorous formulation for the one-dimensional nonlinear finite strain consolidation theory, which can consider non-linearity of material function. But it is difficult to apply this theory to predict the behavior of common soft clay ground with vertical drain. In this study, consolidation model which can consider the vertical and horizontal flow of a fully saturated clay layer, self-weight of soil and nonlinear characteristics of compressibility and permeability are derived. Numerical analysis scheme, which can be applied to consolidation analysis by derived consolidation model in this study was developed. The characteristics of material function were examined using laboratory testing such as standard consolidation test, Rowe-cell test and modified consolidation test.

The relation between lead in air (PbA) and lead in blood (PbB), concentrations was investigated among 44 workers in five major operations in a United States high volume, lead acid battery plant. The study covered a 30 month period in which workers received frequent PbA and PbB determinations, workers remained in a single job, and PbA concentrations averaged below the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) permissible exposure limit of $50{\mu}g/m^{3}$. In both univariate and multivariable linear regressions, longitudinal analyses averaging PbA concentrations over the 30 month study period appeared superior to cross sectional analyses using only six month PbA averages .to model PbB concentrations. The covariate adjusted coefficient ($\alpha$ value) for PbA($\mu/m^{3}$) in models of PbB (${\mu}g/100\;g$) was 1-14. This figure is strikingly higher than that reported in previous studies in the lead acid battery industry in all of which PbA concentrations were substantially higher than in the current study. Plausible explanations for the differences in a: values include non-linearity of the PbA-PbB curve, a higher fraction of large size particulate associated with higher PbA concentrations, survivor bias among workers exposed to higher PbA concentrations, and the cross sectional designs of most previous studies. Despite previously reported problems with the model used by OSHA to predict PbA-PbB relations, the findings of this study are in good agreement with the predictions of that model.
The purpose of this study was to kinematics factors on during round-off at end of beam-salto backward stretched with step-out to cross on balance beam. Four elite female gymnastics players participated as subject of this study. The methods of this study was analyzed using three dimentional analysis. The results and conclusion of this paper is obtained as follows ; 1. The phase of time was the most short time in board touch down phase and board take-off phase. Also, it was shown a more long time in total time compared to previous study. 2. The horizontal displacement of each phase was shown the most high levels in balance beam landing. The vertical displacement was display a non-linearity increase in board take-of phase, and it was shown the most high levels in vertical displacement during landing of balance beam. 3. The horizontal velocity of each phase was shown the most high levels in board touch down, and it was display a gradually decreased levels because flight during board take-of. The resultant velocity of CG on each phase was shown the most high levels in board touch down and board take-off. 4. The angle of hip joint was shown the most high levels as performed a motion in extension state during board take-off, and the angle of knee joint was display a increased levels because of flight cause body extension in board take-off. Also the angle of ankle joint was shown a increasing levels during board take-off. Considering to this results, it is suggest that the change of kinematics factors in board touch down and board take-off is key role on the effective board control.

This paper introduces an effective system design method to develop a customer oriented product using a design optimization process and to select a set of critical design paramenters,. The process results in the development of a successful product satisfying customer needs and reducing development risk. The proposed scheme adopted a five step QFD(Quality Function Deployment) in order to extract design parameters from customer needs and evaluated their priority using risk factors for extracted design parameters. In this process we determine critical design parameters and allocate them to subsystem designers. Subsequently design engineers develop and test the product based on these parameters. These design parameters capture the characteristics of customer needs in terms of performance cost and schedule in the process of QFD, The subsequent risk management task ensures the minimum risk approach in the presence of design parameter uncertainty. An application of this approach was demonstrated in the development of weld quality monitoring system. Dominant design parameters affect linearity characteristics of weld defect feature vectors. Therefore it simplifies the algorithm for adopting pattern classification of feature vectors and improves the accuracy of recognition rate of weld defect and the real time response of the defect detection in the performance. Additionally the development cost decreases by using DSP board for low speed because of reducing CPU's load adopting algorithm in classifying weld defects. It also reduces the cost by using the single sensor to measure weld defects. Furthermore the synergy effect derived from the critical design parameters improves the detection rate of weld defects by 15% when compared with the implementation using the non-critical design parameters. It also result in 30% saving in development cost./ The overall results are close to 95% customer level showing the effectiveness of the proposed development approach.
During the loading/offloading operation of a liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) that is moored in a side-by-side configuration with an offshore plant, sloshing that occurs due to the partially filled LNG tank and the interactive effect between the two floating bodies are important factors that affect safety and operability. Therefore, a time-domain software program, called CHARM3D, was developed to consider the interactions between sloshing and the motion of a floating body, as well as the interactions between multiple bodies using the potential-viscous hybrid method. For the simulation of a floating body in the time domain, hydrodynamic coefficients and wave forces were calculated in the frequency domain using the 3D radiation/diffraction panel program based on potential theory. The calculated values were used for the simulation of a floating body in the time domain by convolution integrals. The liquid sloshing in the inner tanks is solved by the 3D-FDM Navier-Stokes solver that includes the consideration of free-surface non-linearity through the SURF scheme. The computed sloshing forces and moments were fed into the time integration of the ship's motion, and the updated motion was, in turn, used as the excitation force for liquid sloshing, which is repeated for the ensuing time steps. For comparison, a sloshing motion coupled analysis program based on linear potential theory in the frequency domain was developed. The computer programs that were developed were applied to the side-by-side offloading operation between the offshore plant and the LNGC. The frequency-domain results reproduced the coupling effects qualitatively, but, in general, the peaks were over-predicted compared to experimental and time-domain results. The interactive effects between the sloshing liquid and the motion of the vessel can be intensified further in the case of multiple floating bodies.
The Ranking source panel method was used to predict the flow phenomenon of a ship with a goose-neck type bulbous bow penetrating the free surface. The non-linearity of the free surface boundary condition was fully satisfied using an iterative calculation method, and the raised panel method was adopted to obtain a more stable solution at each iteration step. The panel cutting method was applied to generate a hull calculation grid at each iteration step, including the first step. At that time, the nose of the goose-neck type bulbous bow was divided by the free surface and the free surface panel was modified at each iteration step using the variable free surface panel method. Numerical calculations were performed to investigate the validity and efficiency of the applied numerical algorithm using the 3600 TEU container carrier. The computed wave resistance coefficients were compared with the experimentally achieved residual resistance coefficients.
The degradation and its inverse modeling can achieve restoration of corrupted image, caused by scaled digitization and electronic transmission. De-speckle process on the noisy document(or SAR) images is one of the basic examples. Non-linearity of the speckle noise model may hinder the inverse process. In this paper, our study is focused on investigation of the restoration methods for bi-level document image degraded by the impulse noise model. Our study shows that, on bi-level document images, the weighted-median filter and the Lee filter methods are very effective among other spatial filtering methods, but wavelet filter method is ineffective in aspect of processing speed: approximately 100 times slower. Optimal values of the weight to be used in the weighted median filter are investigated and presented in this paper.
It is difficult to find an appropriate web site because exponentially growing web contains millions of web documents. Personalization of web search can be realized by recommending proper web sites using user profile but more efficient method is needed for estimating preference because user's evaluation on web contents presents many aspects of his characteristics. As user profile has a property of non-linearity, estimation by classifier is needed and combination of classifiers is necessary to anticipate diverse properties. Structure adaptive self-organizing map (SASOM) that is suitable for Pattern classification and visualization is an enhanced model of SOM and might be useful for web mining. Fuzzy integral is a combination method using classifiers' relevance that is defined subjectively. In this paper, estimation of user profile is conducted by using ensemble of SASOM's teamed independently based on fuzzy integral and evaluated by Syskill & Webert UCI benchmark data. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than previous naive Bayes classifier as well as voting of SASOM's.

In general, the fidelity of the aircraft dynamic model is verified by comparison with the flight test results of the target aircraft. Therefore, the reference flight data for performance comparisons must be extracted. This process requires a lot of time and manpower to extract useful data from the vast quantity of flight test data containing various noise for comparing fidelity. In particular, processing of flight data is complex because rotorcraft have high non-linearity characteristics such as coupling and wake interference effect and perform various maneuvers such as hover and backward flight. This study defines flight data processing criteria for rotorcraft and provides procedures and methods for automated processing of static and dynamic flight data using data mining techniques. Finally, the methods presented are validated using flight data.
