CONTACT FORCE MODEL FOR A BEAM WITH DISCRETELY SPACED GAP SUPPORTS AND ITS APPROXIMATED SOLUTION

  • This paper proposes an approximated contact force model to identify the nonlinear behavior of a fuel rod with gap supports; also, the numerical prediction of interfacial forces in the mechanical contact of fuel rods with gap supports is studied. The Newmark integration method requires the current status of the contact force, but the contact force is not given a priori. Taylor's expansion can be used to predict the unknown contact force; therefore, it should be guaranteed that the first derivative of the contact force is continuous. This work proposes a continuous and differentiable contact force model with the ability to estimate the current state of the contact force. An approximated convex and differentiable potential function for the contact force is described, and a variational formulation is also provided. A numerical example that considers the particularly stiff supports has been studied, and a fuel rod with hardening supports was also examined for a realistic simulation. An approximated proper solution can be obtained using the results, and abrupt changes from the contacting state to non-contacting state, or vice versa, can be relieved. It can also be seen that not only the external force but also the developed contact force affects the response.

  • Moire topography method is a well-known non-contacting 3-D measuement method. Recently, the automatic 3-D measurement by moire topography has been required since the method was frequently applied to the engineering and medical fields. 3-D measurement using projection moire topography is very attractive because of it's high measuring speed and high sensitivity. In this paper, using two-wavelength method of projection moire topography tested to measuring object with the 2x-ambiguity problem. Experimental results prove that the proposed scheme is capable of finding absolute fringe orders, so that the 2x-ambiguity problem can be effectively overcome so as to treat large step discontinuities in measured objects.

  • 본 논문에서는 마찰계수의 비접촉 추정을 위한 영상정보 활용방법을 제안한다. 마찰계수는 이동체의 도로주행 또는 장애물 극복에 있어 매우 중요한 요소이다. 이동체가 이동경로의 마찰계수를 미리 알 수 있다면 이동성향상을 기대할 수 있다. 본 논문의 마찰계수 추정방법은 영상정보를 활용하기 때문에 이동체가 지면과 접촉하기 전에 마찰계수를 추정 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 마찰계수의 비접촉 추정을 위한 영상정보 활용방법은 마찰계수측정실험과 물질그룹생성을 포함한 학습단계와 물질그룹 분류과정과 마찰계수 함수 활용을 포함한 마찰계수 추정단계로 구성되어 있으며 물질 조성비를 생성하는 영상처리는 두 단계에 모두 포함된다. 이 과정을 통해 얻은 마찰계수는 무인이동로봇이 이동경로 진입 전에 미끄러움을 판단하여 미끄럼지역을 회피 할 수 있도록 하며, 저속으로 이동이 가능한 경우 미끄럼이 발생하지 않는 적정속도를 계산하는데 확용 가능하다. 본 논문에서 사용한 지형의 마찰계수와 영상정보는 마찰계수 측정실험을 통해 취득하였다. 마찰계수 추정방법을 평가하기 위해 실험지형의 실제 마찰계수와 추정 마찰계수의 차이를 비교하였다.

광학현미경을 이용한 비접촉식 치수측정시스템의 교정 (Calibration of Optical Dimensional Measurement System Using Optical Microscope)

  • Non-contacting optical microscopes are increasingly used in recent industrial applications of probes for coordinate measuring machines. They have been found more efficient than conventional touch trigger porbes with ball tips especially in inspecting small-sized objects. There are two major factors affecting measuring accuracy: (1) geometric relations between coordinate systems, (2) magnification ratios of a microscope. In order to determine the magnification ratios exactly, optical imaging of edge was theroretically analyzed and practically adopted to image processing for edge detection. In addition, this paper proposes a geometric calibration method to obtain exact coordinates of measured points from the relations between the machine coordinate system and the image. In the method, the error according to the squareness between the machine axises was also removed. The method was practically adopted to a real coordinate measuring machine. An ultraprecision measurement of 0.2 um uncertainty can be practically achieved.

  • 대전롤러는 감광체의 표면과 접촉된 상태로 회전하면서 드럼 표면을 대전시켜야 하므로 접촉이 잘 되도록 적당한 도전성을 갖는 탄성체로 만들어 진다. 또한 그 롤러 표면은 코팅을 하게 되는데 코팅제의 종류나 코팅 방식에 따라서 대전특성이나 화상특성이 달라지고, 또한 환경의 변화에 따라 화상특성이 달라진다. 본 연구에서는 고품질의 화상형성을 얻을 수 있는 대전 롤러의 제조를 위하여 적합한 도전성 탄성체 롤러를 개발하였다.

  • Our goal is the development of a system that estimates the location of interested point in a room with accuracy and low cost. Non-contacting position estimating method is widely used in various areas. Among these methods, acoustic signal-based method is the cheapest and provides reasonably accurate estimation as a result of many research efforts.   • In surface grinding, the conditions of the grinding wheel give a significant effect on the ground workpieces comparing with other metal removal processes. In this paper, to assist the development, a non-contacting optical method is introduced to make in-process measurements of scattering intensities from laser beam during surface grinding processes. This show indications of changes in surface texture of wheel working surfaces. Also, in order to determine the dressing time monitoring method of grinding wheel in surface grinding, a three-dimensional computer simulation of the grinding operation has been attempted based on the contact mechanism and surface-shaping system between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. The optical dressing time is determined based on the amount of the grain wear and work surface roughness.

  • Laser beam machining (LBM) using nanosecond pulsed laser is widely known to be rapid and non-wear process for micromachining. However, the quality itself cannot meet the precision standard due to the recast layer and heat affected zone. In this paper, a fabrication method for machining micro features in stainless steel using a hybrid process of LBM using nanosecond pulsed laser and electrochemical etching (ECE) is reported. ECE uses non-contacting method for precise surface machining and selectively removes the recast layer and heat affected zone produced by laser beam in an effective way. Compared to the single LBM process, the hybrid process of LBM and ECE enhanced the quality of the micro features.
