This experiment of which aim contribute to plan irrigation system so as to increase forage crop yields, was conducted to estimate evapotranspiration amount of forage crops and to find out system of consumed water in a pasture-ground. The results obtained by this study are as follows: 1. The general weather conditions which, were closely related to the evapotrannpiration of forage crops were nearly same as those of the average year with the exception that temperature of May and June were slightly low. 2. According to the investigation of potential evapotranspirations (P.E) or forage crops and its changes during growing periods, changes of tenday P.E. were high significant according to the harvesting period. P.E of Alfalfa of which yield was the largest was the biggest. Althrough the correlations between P.E. and meteorological factors were irregular oming to three-time harvesting, correlation between ten-day evapotraspiration amount and copper plated pan evaporation or solar radiation was high positive significant. 4. Predicting formulas of P.E. were led by weather factors, and also relatione between P.E. and weather factors were showed as figure. from the these formulas, P.E. may be calculated by weather factors. 5. Predicting formulas of P.E. were led by mean temperature and copper plated pan evaporation, and by mean temperature and solar radiation. As computed values and measured values showed in figure, these formulas were high signiflent. 6. In the total consumed soil water duration of 10 days which, was non-rain period from 12th to 21th of August, Alfalfa was the largest 48.1mm, second, Orchard grass 40.1mm and Fescue 37.6mm, and Ladino clover was the smallest 37.1mm, also, order of each forage crop yield amound. was same to the abov. Order of soil moisture extraction rate of soil layer of all the for forage crops dulation of ten-day was soil layer 1 which was largest, soil layer 2, 3, and 4 Reviewing the the first five-day and the second five day, in the first five-day, order of that of all the forage crops was same to the above, but in the second five-day, that of soil layer 2 or 3 was more than the of soil layer 1.
A simple and efficient protocol was developed for culturing Cu-tolerant and Cu-accumulating plants via pre-adaptation to Cu during plant tissue culture. We induced multiple shoots from begonia (Begonia evansiana Andr.) leaf explants on MS medium supplemented with naphtaieneacetic acid and benzyladenine. After 3 months, small plantlets were transferred to MS medium supplemented with $100{\mu}M\;CuCl_2$ for pre-adaptation to Cu and cultured for 5 months. Then, these plantlets were individually planted in pots containing artificial soil. An additional 500 mg of Cu dissolved in 1/4 strength MS solution was applied to each pot during irrigation over the course of 2 months. We planted pre-adapted and control begonias in soil from the II-Kwang Mine, an abandoned Cu mine in Pusan, Korea, to examine their ability to tolerate and accumulate Cu for phytore-mediation. Pre-adapted begonias accumulated $1,200{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue over the course of 45 days. On the other hand, non-Cu-adapted controls accumulated only $85{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue. To enhance Cu extraction, chelating agents, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA)-dipotassiun and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDA), were applied. While the chelating agents did not enhance accumulation of Cu in the roots of control begonias, EDTA application increased the level of Cu in the roots of pre-adapted begonias twofold (to $2,500{\mu}g$ Cu/g dry root tissue). Because pre-adapted begonias accumulated a large amount of Cu, mainly in their roots, they could be used for phytostabilization of Cu-contaminated soils. In addition, as a flowering plant, begonias can be used to create aesthetically pleasing remediation sites.

Purpose: Pemphigus vulgaris, a rare autoimmune blistering disease of the skin and mucous membranes remains a challenging disease to treat. Management is focused on immunotherapy against autoimmune antibodies that target keratinocyte cell adhesion molecules, and antibiotics preventing secondary infections. There is no established dressing protocol and skin is usually manipulated the least amount possible in order to minimize irritation. The authors suggest that early initiation of aggressive bathing and debridement of skin lesions, with nutritional support, is essential in accelerating resolution. Methods: A 40 year-old male previously diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris was admitted due to exacerbation of mucocutaneous lesions involving the epidermis and mucosa of the whole body. Steroids, immunosuppressants, intravenous immunoglobulin and antibiotics were administrated, but infection and de-epithelialization progressed, while his general condition deteriorated with a weight loss of over 20 kilograms. The plastic surgery department intervened with daily bathing, debridement of unhealthy debris and non-traumatizing coverage of growing epithelium. Total parenteral nutrition and mobilization with rehabilitation therapy was initiated as early as possible. Results: After bathing, healthy epithelium gradually covered the patient's entire body, while his general condition improved with a corresponding weight gain of 14 kgs. Conclusion: Treatment of pemphigus vulgaris focuses on immunotherapy and infection control. However, an equal amount of attention should be laid on early intervention with daily dressings including bathing and irrigation, nutritional support, and exercise as this accelerates resolution of existing infections, promotes healthy epithelialization and leads to faster recovery.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of soil amendment (heat-expanded clay and active carbon) and planting of Dendranthema zawadskii var. latilobum on the remediation of salt-affected soil and the plant growth under high calcium chloride (CaCl2) concentration. The experimental group comprised treatments including Non treatment (Cont.), heat-expanded clay (H), active carbon (AC), planting (P), heat-expanded clay+planting (H+P), active carbon+planting (AC+P). A 200 mL solution of CaCl2 at a concentration of 10 g·L-1 was applied as irrigation once every 2 weeks. Compared to the Cont., the incorporation of the 'heat-expanded clay' amendment decreased electrical conductivity of the soil leachate and cation exchange capacity, whereas the growth of Dendranthema zawadskii var. latilobum was relatively increased. These results suggest that the combination of 'heat-expanded clay' amendment and planting will mitigate negative effect of de-icing salts and improve plant growth in salt-contaminated roadside soils.

Water and phosphorus (P) fertilizer are two of the most critical inputs in rice cultivation. Under climate change scenarios and urbanization, irrigation and fertilizer are becoming limiting factors often leading to significant decrease in yield whenever supplied scarcely. It has been shown that the Pup1 QTL confers tolerance to P starvation and improved early-stage root vigor in indica rice grown in the tropics. However, whether the QTL works in japonica rice genetic background grown in temperate regions remains to be elucidated. Here, we have introgressed the Pup1 QTL into three temperate rice varieties MS11, TR22183, and Dasan using marker-assisted backcrossing and next generation sequencing. The selected lines all harbored the full Pup1 QTL with recurrent parent genome recovery rates ranging from 66.5% to 99.8%. Evaluation of the introgression rice lines grown in South Korea under low inputs of P and water revealed early vegetative growth advantage relative to that of the recurrent parents. Under rainfed condition, Pup1 introgression lines had yield advantage ranging from 7.2 to 19.9% and 24 to 26% in P non-supplied soil and P-supplied soil, respectively compared to that of the recurrent parents suggesting that Pup1 confers enhanced yield under low P and water inputs in temperate rice genetic background grown in temperate climate. In terms of early vegetative growth, temperate Pup1 introgression lines showed a similar trend on the extent to which Pup1 promotes yield advantage in temperate rice in comparison with indica control Pup1 introgression line IR64-Pup1.
A pot experiment was conducted to learn the effect of non-compounded and compounded (with super phosphate) liquid fertilizers made of amino acid fermentation by product and the time of their application on the emergences and yield of orchard grass. Results obtained as follows; 1. The Application of the liquid fertilizers, on seeding day of the orchard grass raised soil pH and salt concentration more than the application on the days before seeding and decreased the number of sprouts of the grass which also lead to a lower yield of the grass compared with the latter. 2. Liquid compound fertilizer, however, tended to reduce the harmful effect on sprouting orchard grass compared with non-compounded liquid fetilizer, particulary in soil of on-lime applied. 3. The application of liquid and liquid compound fetilizers on somewhat acidic bare land a quite ahead of seeding or transplanting crops may not only reduce the effect of the fertilizers, provided the land is free from washing by rain or irrigation water, but also provide better conditions for sprouting and early growth of plant seedings than the use at the pre-seeding or pro-transplanting time.
The low flow analysis is an important part in water resources engineering. Also, the results of low flow frequency analysis can be used for design of reservoir storage, water supply planning and design, waste-load allocation, and maintenance of quantity and quality of water for irrigation and wild life conservation. Especially, for identification of the uncertainty in frequency analysis, the Bayesian approach is applied and compared with conventional methodologies in at-site low flow frequency analysis. In the first manuscript, the theoretical background for the Bayesian MCMC (Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo) method and Metropolis-Hasting algorithm are studied. Two types of the prior distribution, a non-data- based and a data-based prior distributions are developed and compared to perform the Bayesian MCMC method. It can be suggested that the results of a data-based prior distribution is more effective than those of a non-data-based prior distribution. The acceptance rate of the algorithm is computed to assess the effectiveness of the developed algorithm. In the second manuscript, the Bayesian MCMC method using a data-based prior distribution and MLE(Maximum Likelihood Estimation) using a quadratic approximation are performed for the at-site low flow frequency analysis.
The main habitats of diving beetles in agricultural ecosystems were identified as ponds, irrigation channels, and reservoirs, where the water system is maintained throughout the year. Four species, Cybister japonicus, Cybister brevis, Hyphydrus japonicus and Noterus angustulus, were selected as biological indicators which can be used to evaluate the healthiness of the agricultural ecosystem. The species number of 4 indicator species, the species number of diving beetle species, and the diversity index were used as factors for environmental evaluation. The evaluation was classified into grades $I{\sim}IV$. The non-fertilizer and non-pesticide agricultural practicing area and the sustainable agricultural practicing area were evaluated as grades $I{\sim}II$, and the general agricultural area to be relatively fine with a grade II. However, the analysis indicated the agricultural areas near a residential area and an industrial complex to be poor with a grade of IV, suggesting that immediate improvement in the agricultural environment is needed.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the runner cutting time on the growth and yield of strawberry (Fragaria ${\times}$ ananassa cv. Maehyang and Seolhyang) during nursery period of two consecutive years (2009 and 2010). Strawberry runners which connected from mother plants to daughter plants were cut 30, 20, 10 and 5 days before transplanting day (11 Sep. 2009 and 10 Sep. 2010). When runner cutting time delayed, more nutrition was supplied to the daughter plant until late nursery period. It showed that there was a tendency to increase the fresh weight, crown diameter and leaf chlorophyll content. On the other hand, when the runner was cut earlier, the growth of underground part such as root weight was improved. Irrigation demand increased to 29.7% in case of runner cutting from mother plant compared with runner non-cutting treatment. In addition, infection ratio of anthracnose through runner part was 37.6% higher in case of runner cutting than that of runner non-cutting treatment. After transplanting, budding and flowering period were delayed up to 2 or 3 days because of late runner cutting. But there was no significant difference in marketable fruit yield among runner cutting times. It is recommended to conduct runner cutting 5 or 10 days before transplanting for reducing the occurrence of anthracnose.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of waterlogging on the net photosynthetic rate, root activity and fruit yield of hot pepper. Plants were grown in two greenhouses: extractor fans and side ventilators began to operate when the inside temperature reached $25^{\circ}C$ in one greenhouse and $35^{\circ}C$ in the other. Waterlogging treatments were performed 54 days after transplanting (when fruit setting at the second flower truss was complete). The plot in each greenhouse was divided into five sections, and each section was watered for 0, 12, 24, 48 or 72 h using drip irrigation. Plants under $25^{\circ}C$ and non - waterlogging treatment exhibited in the greatest growth among treatments. Plant growth generally decreased as the waterlogging period increased. The net photosynthetic rate was highest under non - waterlogging and $25^{\circ}C$ treatment and lowest under 72 h waterlogging and $25^{\circ}C$ treatment. The root activity decreased as the waterlogging period increased, except for plants under 72 h waterlogging treatment at $35^{\circ}C$. The number and weight of red pepper fruits per plant were highest under non - waterlogging treatment at $35^{\circ}C$. The greatest fruit yield was also observed under non - waterlogging treatment at $35^{\circ}C$, with production reaching 3,697 kg / 10a. At the appropriate temperature for hot pepper ($25^{\circ}C$), yields were reduced by 25 - 30% under 12, 24 and 48 h waterlogging treatment compared to non - waterlogging treatment. These results indicate that longer waterlogging periods reduce the growth, net photosynthetic rate, root activity and yields of hot pepper. However, the net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance of hot pepper plants grown under 72 h waterlogging treatment recovered nine days after growth under normal growth conditions.
