  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the position of a source in a closed form when a single source has coherently distributed property against a circular array. When a sound source reaches a sensor through multipath environments, it is seen as a distributed source and can be represented by four variables: the nominal azimuth, nominal elevation, azimuth angular spread, elevation angular spread. Therefore, it requires a lot of computation by a search method such as DSPE (Distributed Source Parameter Estimator). In this paper, we propose a method of estimating the nominal azimuth and elevation angle in a closed form using correlation function and least squares method for fast position estimation. In particular, if the source is assumed as Gaussian distribution model, the standard deviation is also estimated in a closed form. In the simulation, the validity of the proposed method is confirmed by comparing with the DSPE.

  • Nonlinear analysis of the reinforced concrete beam subjected to torsion is presented. Seventeen equations involving seventeen variables are derived from the equilibrium equation, compatibility equation, and the material constitutive laws to solve the torsion problem. Newton method was used to solve the nonlinear simultaneous equations and efficient algorithms are proposed. Present model covers the behavior of reinforced concrete beam under pure torsion from service load range to ultimate stage. Tensile resistance of concrete after cracking is appropriately considered. The softened concrete truss model and the average stress-strain relations of concrete and steel are used. To verify the validity of Present model, the nominal torsional moment strengths according to ACI-99 code and the ultimate torsional moment by present model are compared to experimental torsional strengths of 55 test specimens found in literature. The ultimate torsional moment strengths by the present model show good results.

  • This paper addresses sliding mode control (SMC) of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with a compensator of model uncertainties such as vehicle parameter variation, unmodeled dynamics, and external disturbances. A sliding mode controller (SMC) is designed with a nominal vehicle model to achieve a desired wheel slip ratio. A disturbance observer (DOB) is introduced to compensate the model uncertainties and is designed with a transfer function of a hydraulic brake dynamics. Through simulations on the model uncertainties, it is verified that the sliding mode control with the DOB can give the simulation results better than the sliding mode control without the DOB.

  • Dependent models in quality statistics are classified as serially autocorrelated model, multivariate model and dependent sample model. Dependent sample model is most efficient in time and cost to obtain samples among the above models. This paper proposes to implement parametric and nonparametric models into production system depended on demand pattern. Nonparametric models have distribution free and asymptotic distribution free techniques. Quality statistical models are classified into two categories ; the number of dependent sample and the type of data. The type of data consists of nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio data. The number of dependent sample divides into 2 samples and more than 3 samples.

  • The structure of a series of Cu/Ni is characterized by using a program, SUPREX, to model the x-ray diffraction patterns, multilayers. The samples had nominal layer thickness of 3/3, 7/7, 13.5/13.5, 20/20, 30/30, 50/50, 80/80, 100/100, and 200/200 Angstroms. The diffraction patterns were taken around the (111) peak for the two constituent materials. A kinematical model is used to characterize the diffraction patterns and the parameters for the model are described. An initial model is calculated using initial guesses for the parameters. The model is then fit to the data by reducing $x^2$using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The samples are shown to be high quality supperlattices.

  • This paper suggests a generalized logit model with mixed effects for analysing frequency data in multi-contingency table. In this model nominal response variable is assumed to be polychotomous. When some factors are fixed but considered as ordinal and others are random, this paper shows how to use baseline-category logits to incoporate the mixed-effects of those factors into the model. A numerical algorithm was used to estimate model parameters by using marginal log-likelihood.

  • Global and local behaviors of a lightly RC shear walls are investigated in this paper. For the sake of cyclic behaviors, nominal ground accelerations of 0.15 g, 0.40 g and 0.55 g which associated with natural periods of the walls are applied as listed in French CAMUS-2000 shake table test. Modified Kent & Park model, Drucker-Prager model for concrete material and $Giufr\acute{e}$-Menegotto-Pinto model for rebar are used for time history analyses using fiber/solids elements respectively. Alternatively, Eulerian beam analysis are discussed by imposing inelastic hinges at the most possible plastic hinge location using modified Takeda's trilinear model with stiffness reduction. Relative displacements, base shears, bending moments of 5-story shear building with 36-tons of mass under bi-lateral seismic excitation are extracted and compared with EC-8, PS-92 and KBC-09 provisions. Multi-scaled degradation process; material damage, elemental fracture and structural failure in turn is discussed in the view of numerical accuracy, efficiency and limitation depending on three different model-based analyses.

  • This paper simulates the hysteretic behavior of steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) columns under cyclic loads using OpenSees software. The effective fiber model and displacement-based beam-column element in OpenSees is applied to each SRRC columns. The Concrete01 material model for recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and Steel02 material model is proposed to perform the numerical simulation of columns. The constitutive models of RAC, profile steel and rebars in columns were assigned to each fiber element. Based on the modelling method, the analytical models of SRRC columns are established. It shows that the calculated hysteresis loops of most SRRC columns agree well with the test curves. In addition, the parameter studies (i.e., strength grade of RAC, stirrups strength, steel strength and steel ratio) on seismic performance of SRRC columns were also investigated in detail by OpenSees. The calculation results of parameter analysis show that SRRC columns suffered from flexural failure has good seismic performance through the reasonable design. The ductility and bearing capacity of columns increases as the increasing magnitude of steel strength, steel ratio and stirrups strength. Although the bearing capacity of columns increases as the strength grade of RAC increases, the ductility and energy dissipation capacity decreases gradually. Based on the test and numerical results, the flexural failure mechanism of SRRC columns were analysed in detail. The computing theories of the normal section of bearing capacity for the eccentrically loaded columns were adopted to calculate the nominal bending strength of SRRC columns subjected to vertical axial force under lateral cyclic loads. The calculation formulas of horizontal bearing capacity for SRRC columns were proposed based on their nominal bending strength.
