  • The ability to recognize human emotion is one of the hallmarks of human-robot interaction. Hence this paper describes the realization of emotion recognition. For emotion recognition from voice, we propose a new feature called frequency range of meaningful signal. With this feature, we reached average recognition rate of 76% in speaker-dependent. From the experimental results, we confirm the usefulness of the proposed feature. We also define the noise environment and conduct the noise-environment test. In contrast to other features, the proposed feature is robust in a noise-environment.

  • This study aims at comparing the noise characteristics of conventional and functional hood. Measurement and analysis was carried out in anechoic room and actual environment. In case of anechoic room, intensity and sound pressure level were measured. In case of actual environment sound pressure level under different apartment size and distances. Sound pressure level of actual environment was higher than that of anechoic room. It is concluded that noise characteristics were different from each other in case of anechoic room and actual environment.

  • Recently, as wind farms using wind power as new and renewable energy have been installed nationwide, noise problems have emerged. The environmental impact assessment and post-environmental impact assessment also require the measurement of background noise and low-frequency noise for wind farms, especially by applying the living noise measurement method according to the low-frequency noise management guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment in 2018. Due to the nature of wind power generators that generate loud noise in high winds, noise measurement should be made at high winds, but when wind speed increases, wind noise increases and living noise and low-frequency noise are not properly evaluated. Therefore, the type of noise generated by wind power generators was confirmed, and matters to be considered when measuring wind noise such as wind noise were confirmed.

  • The workplace noise environment is composed of three basic elements : manufacturing (in a generic sense) facilities, office areas, and the community around the facility. Work must be done by all employees , and this involves communication within a variety of locations within the facility ; areas may be extremely noisy, moderately noisy, or quiet, such as an office. At the same time, the facility should not be annoying to the community. In this paper, the workplace environmental noise of office areas in power plant are studied. Turbine generator in power plant generates the noise of 90∼95 dB(A) in the frequency range of 1 kHz, which may cause occupational hearing loss. By abatement method which are made of isolation material and distance damping effect, about 29.5 dB(A) reduction has been obtained in office areas of the Power Plant . But, the workplace environmental noise of office areas in the power plant is not suited to office's purpose.

  • The noise in apartment buildings are major factor that determine the quality of indoor noise environment. Particularly, the noise from children's running footsteps and plumbing noise have caused the residents who live in decrepit apartment houses to uncomfortable environment. And as time go by, sound performance are getting worse according to the aging of the facilities. So this study deals with the plans to improve the sound performance of decrepit apartment house. To compare the noise reduction, we measured the heavy-weight impact sound level and plumbing noise level before and after changes the measurement conditions. As the results of measurements, the heavy-weight impact sound level were decreased when stiffness reinforcement were installed on slab. Especially the sound level were decreased 2.1-7.6dB in 50-80Hz of low frequency range. Instead of PVC pipe system, cast iron pipe and triple elbow drain pipe systems were installed. Noise level were decreased 15dB(A) in 250Hz. Noise level of pipe system's on the slab is less than under slab one. On the contrary water saving stool showed increasing the noise level.

  • This paper suggests the set-up plan of the assessment scope in road noise considering road characteristics with the prediction model of road noise. The RLS90 prediction model with some assumptions is used to establish the assessment scope of road noise. The main contents of the applied assumptions are smooth drive of cars, flat region, location of all noise sources in one lane, drive in design speed, and set-up of assessment scope according to traffic volume and car speed. The information of traffic volume to predict road noise is obtained by the distribution of small cars and full-sized cars in road. In this study, the total traffic volume in road is computed by adding the number of small cars to the conversion number of small cars, which means the number of small cars making the same noise as one full-sized car. The prediction result of road noise with the influence factor of traffic volume, car speed, distance between road and receiver is presented. The resultant assessment scope of road noise is obtained by combining road noise prediction data with the set-up standard of road noise assessment scope.

  • A survey and auditory experiment on multiple residential noises such as floor impact, airborne, bathroom, drainage and traffic noises were conducted to develop a combined rating system and to establish criteria for multiple residential noises. Subjective reactions such as annoyance, activity disturbance, sleep disturbance, and satisfaction to overall noise environment and each residential noise were recorded. The effect of individual noise perception on the evaluation of the overall noise environment was also investigated. The survey results showed that satisfaction for floor impact noise most greatly affects the overall satisfaction for overall noise environment and annoyance most greatly affects the satisfaction for individual noise sources. Auditory experiments were undertaken to determine the percent satisfaction for individual noise levels. Result of auditory experiment showed that the noise level corresponding to 40 % satisfaction is 49 dB $(L_{i,Fmax,AW})$ for floor impact and is about 40 dB(A) for airborne, drainage and traffic noise. From the results of the survey and the auditory experiments, an equation for predicting the overall satisfaction for multiple noises was developed and a classification of multiple residential noises was proposed.

  • Using road traffic noise, noise map for CheongJu city was drawn. Noise level is estimated and many regions of the city are classified noise excess area compared with environment standard value. Counterplan for the noise excess areas is presented in this study. Noise reduction methods are given in many ways, for example soundproofing walls, low noise pavement, low noise arrangement of buildings and low noise windows.

  • Objective:To study the sources of indoor noise, its effects on human health, noise assessment and regulation through the use of standards, and techniques used to reduce noise. Background: Noise significantly affects the living environment, and there are an increasing number of reports of its impacts on human health. Method: We reviewed domestic and foreign data regarding environmental noise, and examined its effects and the standards used to regulate noise levels. Results: We describe the major sources of indoor noise and suggest possible legal standards, as well as recommended criteria for the control of noise. Conclusion: South Korea has higher legal standards of environmental noise than international standards in terms of threshold values. People in Korea are exposed to various sources of noise, and therefore the reduction of noise is urgently required. Application: Depending on the features of indoor spaces, an appropriate degree of indoor noise can be determined and techniques to reduce excess noise are required.

  • Noise and vibration pollution is emerging to people in high speed trains. And it is difficult to realization of eco-friendly railway system at noise problem. The railway internal noise is 73dB on average and over 80dB in the loudest section. In order to reduce noise, there are passive methods that are far from noise sources and theother active noise reducion method. In this paper, we propose a method of reduce noise by measure and estimate the noise condition of train environment using Bone-Conduction device. We use an anti-phase waveform for canceling of noise characteristic. With this new system, the noise from surrounding environments can be reduced.
