BER DEGRADATION DUE TO THE PHASE NOISE SPECTRAL SHAPE IN LMDS SYSTEMS

  • Phase noise of oscillator gives the performance degradation significantly when a high carrier frequency and low transmission rate are used. The BER(Bit Error Rates) degradation of QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) transmission is analyzed with the oscillator phase noise level specified in downstream physical interface of LMDS(Local Multipoint Distribution Services) which is described in DAVIC(Digital Audio Visual Council). The model used for the phase noise is a power-law model. We also investigated the effects of the various transmission rates on system performance. For the transmission rate below 0.5 Mbps, the BER performance is severely degraded and we verified that the transmission rate, 20 Mbps, is adequate for the downstream of LMDS systems.

  • KEPCO 765 kV Transmission Lines where seasonal winds intersect to the direction of the transmission line route cause aeolian complaints from residents near the transmission lines due to 1.5 times sub-conductors numbers and about 2 times of tower height comparing 345 kV transmission lines. To decrease the wind noise generation, KEPRI developed two countermeasures. One is to install the Spiral Rod on wired 765 kV Cardinal conductor. The other method is to wire the Low Noise conductor which has salient part on the surface.

  • Linear cyclic systems (LCS's) are a class of systems whose dynamic behavior changes periodically. Such a cyclic behavior is ubiquitous in systems with fundamentally repetitive motion. Yet, the knowledge of the noise and vibration transmission paths in LCS's is quite limited due to the time-varying nature of their dynamics. The first part of this two-part paper derives a generic expression that describes how the noise and/or vibration are transmitted between two (or multiple) points in the LCS's. In Part II, experimental validation of the theoretical development of Part I is provided. The noise and vibration transmission paths of the scroll and rotary compressors (two typical LCS's) are examined to show that the LCS's indeed generate a series of amplitude modulated input signals at the output, where the carrier frequencies are harmonic multiples of the LCS' fundamental frequency. The criterion proposed in Part I to determine how well a given LCS can be approximated as a linear time-invariant systems (LTIS) is applied to the noise and vibration transmission paths of the two compressors. Furthermore, the implications of the experimental validations/applications are discussed in order to assess the applicability of the noise/vibration source and transmission path identification techniques based on the assumption that the system under consideration is linear and time-invariant.

  • In the case of the front door of the apartment, which functions as an entrance, the study about noise has been less active than corridor type plane in the past, since stair room type plane was generalized. Hence, this study shows the survey about residents' thoughts of noise transmission through the front door, and after researching sound insulation of the present apartments, we figured out what the problem is. Moreover, we did an efficiency test as developing the front door, which increases sound insulation. As a result, it turned out that residents think that the noise transmission through the front door is as serious as floor impact noise, and also, the efficiency of the front door is as poor as STC 22-30. Therefore, in the developed front door, we should improve the efficiency to the level of STCSS. It will be a good way preparing for a demand of residents.

  • TRIZ is innovative problem solving methodology. It can solve problems by systematical and convergent method, not by the existing divergent method like 'Brainstorming'. In this paper, TRIZ is used for reduction noise from gear in transmission. In order to reduce gear noise, design resources is derived first. According to the derived idea, level and function of system can be defined. After that, we suggest a way to reduce the noise from gear in transmission using 40 Principles and Substance-field analysis of TRIZ.

  • The radio noise produced by corona discharge in high voltage transmission tines is one of the most important line design considerations. Therefore it is necessary to pre-evaluate radio noise for transmission line designers using Prediction formulas or field test results. In this Paper, more accurate and useful formulas for Predicting radio noise during fair and foul weathers in AC transmission lines were proposed through comparison with the existing formulas. Also it was verified by comparing with the long-term measured data from operating lines that the Proposed formulas are very accurate. The Proposed prediction formulas are developed by the applications of nonlinear least square optimization method to radio noise database collected from lines throughout the world.

광섬유 아나로그 영상신호 전송에 대한 모달 노이즈 영향 (The Effects of Modal Noise on fiber optic Analog video Transmission)

  • 레이저 다이오드를 사용한 광섬유 아나로그 영상신호 전송 시스템에서 기존 노이즈(short thermal noise 등) 이외에 광섬유내의 스페클 현상에 기인한 모달 노이즈를 확인하기 위하여 시스템 선형성의 degradation를 여러 종류의 광함유에 따라 조사하고, 그 결과 다중 모드 광섬유 시스템에서 모달 노이즈 영향은 N.A(numerical apperture)와 core 반경의 크기 및 대역폭에 관계됨을 확인하였다. 모달 노이즈를 고려한 고품질 영상신호 전송 시스템을 실현키 위한 방법으로는 단- 모드 광섬유를 사용하든지, 레이저 다이오드의 coherence time를 감소시킬 수 있는 변조기술을 개발해야 됨을 알았다.

  • In this paper, the intoner noise reduction for subway railroad vehicles was studied by improving transmission loss of carbody panels and side doors, and on-line tests were conducted to examine the exterior noise levels at various running conditions. Also the transmission loss for design candidates of the carbody specimen was measured in two reverberation rooms. From the results of the tests, side door gap is the most dominant factor affecting the Interior noise level of subway railroad cars with a sliding typed side door. The next one is revealed to transmission loss of a floor panel. To improve the transmission loss of the carbody, many activities were conducted such as, treatment of resilient and sound-absorbing materials and reducing the gap of the side door by adopting a brush and rubber, etc. The estimated interior noise level for modified car which is designed with improved carbody panels is lower than original car by about 5㏈.

  • 본 논문에서는 송신 다이버시티(diversity) 기법을 적용하는 OFDM 통신 시스템에서의 위 상잡음에 의한 영향을 분석하였다. OFDM 시스템은 위상잡음에 매우 민감한 특성을 가지는데 반송파 간섭 및 시스템 잡음의 증가를 초래함으로서 전체적인 시스템의 성능열화 현상이 나타나게 된다. 따라서 이러한 위상잡음의 영향을 분석하기 위하여 위상잡음의 분포특성 및 그 크기 정도를 모델링하고 이러한 위상잡음의 특성에 따라 어느 정도까지 시스템 성능이 열화 되는지를 고찰하였다. 이러한 열화 현상은 송신 다이버시티 구조에 따라 달라지는데 일반적으로 비교적 간단히 구현할 수 있는 2개 또는 3개의 송신안테나를 쓰는 경우와 송신 다이버시티 기법을 적용하지 않았을 때의 시스템 성능에 관하여 비교하고 분석하였다.

이동형 위성통신 서비스를 위한 시스템 위상 잡음 (System Phase Noise for Mobile Satellite Communication Service)

  • 디지털 신호의 전송 성능은 전송 시스템의 위상 에러에 지배적으로 영향을 받고 있으며, 위상 에러는 랜덤 특성을 갖는 위상 잡음과 도플러에 의한 추적 위상 에러에 의해 발생된다. 도플러 현상이 나타나는 움직임을 갖는 이동형 위성통신 시스템에서는 랜덤 위상 잡음과 추적 위상 오차에 의한 전송 신호의 영향을 해석하여 이동형 위성통신 시스템에 적합한 시스템 요구 위상 잡음 스펙트럼을 설계해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이동형 양방향 위성통신 시스템의 비대칭 이동 서비스에 대한 도플러 영향과 위상 에러를 해석하여 요구되는 전송 시스템의 위상 잡음 스펙트럼을 설계하고, 움직임을 갖는 단말국의 도플러 영향을 최소화하는 전송서비스를 해석한다. 제안한 위상 잡음 스펙트럼은 요구 전송 시스템에 대한 주파수 발생 부 주파수 특성으로 설계할 수 있다.
