This paper presents the simulation methodology of the interior noise of vehicle using the frequency response function based hybrid modeling of the system which consists of multi-subsystem models obtained by the test or analysis. The complex systems such as a trimmed body of high modal density and a powertrain were modeled by using experimental data, and a sub-frame of a vehicle of low modal density was modeled by finite element data. Modeling of the whole system was executed and validated in the two stages. The first stave is combining the trimmed body and the sub-frame, and the second stage is attaching the powertrain, which is a exciting source, to the combined model of the first stage. The input force to the system was modeled as an equivalent force in the virtual space, which was obtained from impedance method using the FRFs of the powertrain and the responses. The interior noise predicted by the proposed method was very close to the direct measurement, which showed feasibility of the proposed modeling procedure. Since the methodology is easily applied to both the transfer path analysis of structure-borne noise and the analysis of noise contribution of a sub-system, it is expected to be a strong tool for design change of a vehicle in the earlier stare.

In this paper, an accurate noise parameters for thermal noise modeling of short channel MOSFET is derived and extracted. Fukui model for calculating the noise parameters of a MOSFET is modified by considering effects of parasitic elements in short channel, and it is compared with conventional noise model equation. In addition, for obtaining the intrinsic noise sources of devices, noise parameters(minimum noise figure $F_{min}$, equivalent noise resistance $R_n$ optimized source admittance $Y_{opt}=G_{opt}+B_{opt}$) in submicron MOSFETs is extracted. With this extraction method, the intrinsic noise parameters of MOSFET without effects of probe pad and extrinsic parasitic elements from RF noise measurements can be directly obtained.

Analysis of the contribution of each pass-by noise source to the overall pass-by noise is an important issue for reduction of pass-by noise. A technical approach for predicting tailpipe noise is used to identify the contribution of tailpipe noise to the pass-by noise in this study. Simulation program with a time domain engine modeling program called 'WAVE' and wave propagation theory of moving noise source are employed. Since the Doppler phenomenon causes a frequency shift during a pass-by noise test, the Doppler correction and time delay effects are incorporated into the estimation of tailpipe noise. The developed program can furnish an in-depth understanding of the effect of tailpipe to pass-by noise.

This paper proposes an analysis method of performance degradation of antenna due to radio frequency interference between an antenna and adjacent noise sources using active scattering parameters. The radio frequency interference can be analyzed by the measured or simulated scattering parameters and by excited noise sources in the circuit as well. In this paper, a planar inverted-F antenna and a noise source are designed and fabricated to analyze radio frequency interference between the planar inverted-F antenna and noise source. The proposed analysis method uses active scattering parameters, of which verification is experimentally verified, and in simulation as well.

In environment of torpedo firing, underwater acoustic signal is generated by target and noise. Sound wave which is generated from acoustic signal is propagated by seawater and it is received through the sonar(sound navigation and ranging) system mounted on torpedo. In the ocean, acoustic signal or sound wave from target that is generated by the spread of broadband can be attenuated by ambient noise and can be lost by medium and environment. This research is designed to support teamwork training in Naval operations by constructing a simulation system that is more similar to the real-world conditions. This paper attempts to research the modeling of target detection and to develop the simulation of torpedo sonar(TOSO). In order to develop the realistic simulation, we researched the broadband sound modeling of target and noise source, the modeling of acoustic transmission loss by chemical component of seawater, and the modeling of signal attenuation by ambient noise environment which is approximated by experimental measurements in seawater surrounding the Korea Peninsular and by experience of Navy's actual torpedo firing. This research contributed to constructing more practical simulation of torpedo firing in real time and the results of this research were used to develop a teamwork training system for the Navy and their education.

In this work, Altair Engineering's vibroacoustic modeling approach is used to simulate the acoustic signature of a simplified automobile in a wind tunnel. The modeling approach relies on a two step procedure involving simulation and extraction of acoustic sources using a high fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation followed by propagation of the acoustic energy within the structure and passenger compartment using a structural dynamics solver. The tools necessary to complete this process are contained within Altair's HyperWorks CAE software suite. The CFD simulations are performed using AcuSolve and the structural simulations are performed using OptiStruct. This vibroacoustics simulation methodology relies on calculation of the acoustic sources from the flow solution computed by AcuSolve. The sources are based on Lighthill's analogy and are sampled directly on the acoustic mesh. Once the acoustic sources have been computed, they are transformed into the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with advanced sampling and are subsequently used in the structural acoustics model. Although this approach does require the CFD solver to have knowledge of the acoustic simulation domain a priori, it avoids modeling errors introduced by evaluation of the acoustic source terms using dissimilar meshes and numerical methods. The aforementioned modeling approach is demonstrated on the Hyundai Simplified Model (HSM) geometry in this work. This geometry contains flow features that are representative of the dominant noise sources in a typical automobile design; namely vortex shedding from the passenger compartment A-pillar and bluff body shedding from the side view mirrors. The geometry also contains a thick poroelastic material on the interior that acts to reduce the acoustic noise. This material is modeled using a Biot material formulation during the structural acoustic simulation. Successful prediction of the acoustic noise within the HSM geometry serves to validate the vibroacoustic modeling approach for automotive applications.

Noise control of a plate structure with multiple disk shaped piezoelectric actuators is studied. The plate is excited by an acoustic pressure field produced by a noise source located below the plate. Finite element modeling is used for the plate structure that supports a combination of three dimensional solid, flat shell and transition elements. The objective function, in the optimization procedure, is to minimize the sound energy radiated onto a hemispherical surface of given radius and the design parameters are the locations and sizes of the piezoelectric actuators as well as the amplitudes of the voltages applied to them. Automatic mesh generation is addressed as part of the modeling procedure. Numerical results for both resonance and off resonance frequencies show remarkable noise reduction and the optimal locations of the actuators are found to be close to the edges of the plate structure. The optimized result is robust such that when the acoustic pressure pattern is changed, reduction of radiated sound is still maintained. The robustness of an optimally designed structure is also tested by changing the frequency of the noise source using only the actuator voltages as design parameters.

The equivalent source method(ESM) is used for the calculation of the internal pressure field for an enclosure which can have arbitrary boundary conditions and nay include internal objects which scatter the sound field. The advantage of using ESM is that it requires relatively low computing cost and is easy to model the internal diffracting objects. Typical ESM modeling uses two groups of equivalent source positions. One group includes the first order images of the source inside the enclosure. The Positions of the other group are usually on a spherical surface some distance outside the enclosure. The normal velocity on the surfaces of the enclosure walls is evaluated at a larger number of positions than there are equivalent sources. The sum of the squared difference between this velocity and the expected is minimized by adjusting the strength of the equivalent sources. This study is on the optimal far field sources positions when using the equivalent source method. In general, the far field sources are evenly distributed on a surface of a virtual sphere which is centered at the enclosure with a sufficiently large radius. In this study. optimal far field source locations are searched using simulated annealing method for various radii of spheres where far field sources are located. Simulation results showed that optimally located sources with adequate distance away from the enclosure center gave better result than sources with even distribution even with a smaller number of far field sources.
The poblem of active oise control has been analysed using a adaptive signal processing technique. In this methods, the adaptive signal processor or model predicts the primary sound wave travelling along the acoustic plant and generates the secondary source 180° out of phase which attempts to attempts to attenuate the undesired noise by destructive interference. In the solutions presented here, acoustic propagation delay is considered as a part of the model which used the FIR filter. The effects of error path and auxiliary path transfer functioin are anayzed and a new on=-line technique for error path modeling, adaptive delayed inverse modeling is presented. In this study, using these new concepts, our system can more reduce the noise level in duct to 5dB-15dB than only using LMS algorithm system.

It is normal practice to consider bending wave modes only, when one applies SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) to ship structures because of complexities in SEA modeling and evaluation of coupling loss factors for inplane modes. According to the result of Tratch[1], the inplane wave modes becomes important for the analysis of a foundation structure as the distance from the source and receiver increases. In this paper, the effect of inplane wave modes on structure-borne noise propagation in ship structures is presented. It is shown that the inplane wave could increase the noise level more than 10 dB compared with the results without inplane wave modes at high frequency bands for compartments far from the source location.
