In the rehabilitation robotic arm systems for the disabled with spinal code injury, EMG signals are used in the control of the robotic arm. EMG signals are corrupted by many kinds of noises such as ECG signal, power noise and contact noise of electrode. Noise rejection improves the performance of the EMG pattern classification. In this paper, a variable bandwidth filter (VBF) and wavelet transform are used for the noise rejection of EMG signals and the comparison of SNR is given. Also, some statistical characteristics of features are investigated.
For the diagnosis of arrhythmia in the heart system, the QRS complex of ECG signals is used in many cases. The rejection of the noise in ECG signals is important to acquisition of exact QRS complex. This paper presents some experimental results about instantaneous bandwidth estimation and noise rejection of ECG signals with the purpose of rejection of the 60 Hz power noise and the motion artifacts such as EMG signals and contact noise. ECG signals corrupted by noise are cleaned by using the variable bandwidth filter. For the filtering of ECG signals with noise, the instantaneous bandwidth of the signals is estimated by analysis of time-frequency representation of ECG signal.

A new approach to impulsive noise rejection and background normalization of digitized electrocardiogram signals is presented using mathematical morphological operators that incoporate the shape information of a signal. A brief introduction to these nonlinear signal processing operators, as well as detailed description of the new algorithm, is presented. Empirical results show that the new algorithm has good performance in impulsive noise rejection and background normalization.
In this paper, we present a novel oscillator (OSC) design. Bandpass filters, which can suppress harmonics, are incorporated into a co-design with an OSC to improve the OSC phase noise and harmonic rejection. The proposed OSC/bandpass filter co-design achieves a phase noise of -130.1 dBc/Hz/600 kHz and harmonic rejection of 37.94 dB and 40.85 dB for the second and third harmonics, respectively, as compared to results achieved by the OSC before co-design of -101.6 dBc/Hz/600 kHz and 21.28 dB and 19.68 dB. Good agreement between the measured and simulated results is achieved.
A Q-band pHEMT image-rejection low-noise amplifier (IR-LNA) is presented using inter-stage tunable resonators. The inter-stage L-C resonators can maximize an image rejection by functioning as inter-stage matching circuits at an operating frequency ($F_{OP}$) and short circuits at an image frequency ($F_{IM}$). In addition, it also brings more wideband image rejection than conventional notch filters. Moreover, tunable varactors in L-C resonators not only compensate for the mismatch of an image frequency induced by the process variation or model error but can also change the image frequency according to a required RF frequency. The implemented pHEMT IR-LNA shows 54.3 dB maximum image rejection ratio (IRR). By changing the varactor bias, the image frequency shifts from 27 GHz to 37 GHz with over 40 dB IRR, a 19.1 dB to 17.6 dB peak gain, and 3.2 dB to 4.3 dB noise figure. To the best of the authors' knowledge, it shows the highest IRR and $F_{IM}/F_{OP}$ of the reported millimeter/quasi-millimeter wave IR-LNAs.

This paper introduces a novel denoising algorithm for the partial-discharge(PD) signals from power apparatuses. The developed algorithm includes three kinds of specific denoising sub-algorithms. The first sub-algorithm uses the fuzzy logic which classifies the noise types in the magnitude versus phase PD pattern. This sub-algorithm is especially effective in the rejection of the noise with high and constant magnitude. The second one is the method simply removing the pulses in the phase sections below the threshold count in the count versus phase pattern. This method is effective in removing the occasional high level noise pulses. The last denoising sub-algorithm uses the grouping characteristics of PD pulses in the 3D plot of the magnitude versus phase versus cycle. This special technique can remove the periodical noise pulses with varying magnitudes, which are very difficult to be removed by other denoising methods. Each of the sub-algorithm has different characteristic and shows different quality of the noise rejection. On that account, a parameter which numerically expresses the noise possessing degree of signal, is defined and evaluated. Using the parameter and above three sub-algorithms, an adaptive complex noise rejection algorithm for the on-line PD diagnosis system is developed. Proposed algorithm shows good performances in the various real PD signals measured from the power apparatuses in the Korean plants.

In this paper, K-band multi-channel receiver was designed and fabricated for low noise amplification and down conversion to L-band. The fabricated multi-channel receiver incorporates GaAs-HEMT LNA(Low noise amplifier) which provides less than a 2 dB noise figure, IR(Image Rejection) Filter for rejection of image frequency, IR(Image rejection) mixer to reject a image frequency and improve an IMD(Intermodulation Distortion) characteristic. Test results of the fabricated multi-channel receiver show less than a 3.8 dB noise figure, conversion gain of more than 27dB, and IP1dB(Input 1dB Gain Compression Point) of -9.5 dB and over.

This paper describes a nonlinear adaptive noise canceler(ANC) using neural networks(NN) based on filter to make up for the drawback of the conventional ANC with the linear adaptive filter. The proposed ANC was tested its noise rejection performance using broadband time-varying noise signal and compared with the ANC of TDL linear filter. Experimental results show that in cases of nonlinear correlations between the noise of primary input and reference input, the neural network based ANC outperforms the linear ANC with respect to mean square error It is also verified that the recurrent NN adaptive filter is superior to the feedforward NN filter. Thus, we identify that the NN adaptive filter is more effective than the linear adaptive filter for rejection of broadband time-varying noise in the ANC.

According to the design concept of microwave front-end, a low noise amplifier block using HBT cascode topology is proposed to provide high gain and low noise figure with low bias current. We has implemented MMIC-LNA with a modified configuration using inductors to show low noise at the emitter and base of cascoded HBT-MMIC amplifier. The measured performance of the designed MMIC-LNA at 3.7GHz are a gain of 19dB, noise figure of 2.7dB and image rejection of 35dBc using a supply of 3mA and 2.7V. We can convinced that cascoded amplifier block to fulfill a high gain, low noise and image rejection if microwave front-end receiver is designed by cascode MMEC-LNA with the active image rejection filter.
This paper describes Low Noise Amplifier(LNA) and Single Balanced Mixer(SBM) with monolithic image rejection notch filter using 0.5um MESFET process. LNA, Notch filter, and SBM were integrated on a chip. This chip does not need off chip SAW filter, thereby reducing the overall cost and system volume. The LNA with Notch filter provides a gain of 15dB, noise figure of 1.2dB, and image rejection ratio of -74dB. The SBM has a conversion gain of 6dB.
