Study on the annoyance response of subway station noise using jury evaluation test (청감실험을 통한 도시철도 승강장 소음의 성가심 반응에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal the quantitative dose-response relationship between the noise emitted in the platform of subway station and the public response. The noise measured in the platform of subway station was used for a jury test. In order to find the factors which influence annoyance response due to the platform noise, jurors were examined for the difference of the annoying response, interrelation of sound quality parameter and annoyance response. The platform noise level was 77.2$\sim$83.9 dBA and the most of passengers at the platform were highly annoyed. And screen door contributes to annoyance reduction of platform noise. The results from analyzing sound quality parameters shows that loudness and annoyance response have a high correlation coefficient.

  • With recent advance in automotive noise control engineering reducing major sound sources in the vehicle, customers perceive Buzz, Squeak and Rattle (BSR) as one of important indicators of vehicle quality and durability. As the long-term goal, we expect to establish the integrated design cycle for the reduction of the BSR noise in the early stage of vehicle development. which consist of design, prediction and evaluation procedures. This is possible only with great bulk of experimental data for BSR noise. In this paper, BSR noise is experimentally identified for vehicle doors, which have been traditionally considered as one of main sources of BSR noise. Based on this result, we proposed systematic method for the prevention of BSR noise in the vehicle doors.

  • Before we have made known the study of shape development of interference device for vehicle noise control. It's primary object greatly attenuate the noise due to transport vehicle by small products installed on the noise barrier edge. Also, it is able to improve the insertion loss of a noise barrier without increasing the height. The present time, we set up a newly manufactured products on the noise barrier edge and testify to it's the performance make use of an experiment and evaluation. In this paper the performance of noise barriers with attached newly developed products in terms of shape, absorptive material and split panel, are examined using field test.

A Spectral-spatial Cooperative Noise-evaluation Method for Hyperspectral Imaging

  • Hyperspectral images feature a relatively narrow band and are easily disturbed by noise. Accurate estimation of the types and parameters of noise in hyperspectral images can provide prior knowledge for subsequent image processing. Existing hyperspectral-noise estimation methods often pay more attention to the use of spectral information while ignoring the spatial information of hyperspectral images. To evaluate the noise in hyperspectral images more accurately, we have proposed a spectral-spatial cooperative noise-evaluation method. First, the feature of spatial information was extracted by Gabor-filter and K-means algorithms. Then, texture edges were extracted by the Otsu threshold algorithm, and homogeneous image blocks were automatically separated. After that, signal and noise values for each pixel in homogeneous blocks were split with a multiple-linear-regression model. By experiments with both simulated and real hyperspectral images, the proposed method was demonstrated to be effective and accurate, and the composition of the hyperspectral image was verified.

  • With the rapid industrialization and civilization development, noise has become a major problem in cities and is a very serious issue for the environment. Noise induced in a factory has a bad influenced on operation efficiency, accuracy and detail of work. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new noise evaluation software for predicting acoustic condition including noise properties during the design of a factory. Majority of commercial softwares for this purpose have been developed in foreign countries and they are quite expensive and hard to use. A new home-made software tool has been developed in the present work, which aimed at providing a more user-friendly environment. The tool developed in this work consists of four major part; the prediction and evaluation of noise in system design, database design, noise analysis development and 3D graphic modeling. The outcome of present work is expected to provide domestic users with a more user-friendly and economic acoustic design tool.

  • For the accurate evaluation of traffic noise with various spectrums and fluctuation characteristics, evaluation systems should reflect not only physical quantities but also the psychological respects of individual persons. In this study, adequate words for evaluating traffic noise have been extracted by reviewing the existing vocabularies and augmenting this with the results of a questionnaire prepared especially for apartment dwellers. As a result of this study, followings are suggested. 1) Vocabularies such as 'disagreeable', 'annoying', 'strident', 'disturbed', 'irritate', 'unpleasant', 'dislike' are classified into the first factor by factor analysis. 2) As a result of surveying overlapping vocabularies for each sound sources, 'noisy', 'annoying', strident', 'unpleasant', 'loudness' are main unpleasant vocabularies to franc noise occurring in our domestic apartment houses.

  • The sharp and highly fluctuating characteristics of the building services noises cause much psychological discomfort to dwellers. To evaluate the noises effectively. it is necessary to develope an evaluation procedure which can well reflect the psychological influences of the noises. In this study, to develope the effective evaluation procedure for the building services noise. Korean vocabularies which can express the feelings for them was investigated. And then, through a series of psycho-acoustical experiments for various housing equipment noises. we analyzed psychological factors that influence to subjective feelings of persons.

  • In the evaluation of measured noise data, tolerance shall be decided based on the uncertainty. The uncertainty has frequency variations due to the different standard deviations at each frequency. Therefore, tolerance shall be differently decided for each frequency with the same confidence probability. In the report, the evaluation method considering the frequency variation of uncertainty will be introduced. From the approach, considering the actual noise distribution characteristics of the ships, the tolerance shall be decided for each frequency with the same probability, but the overall averaged value shall be kept to the value designated in each notation.

  • For the comfortable housing life, an urban environment should give comfort and pleasantness to people living in house and in city. There are lots of environmental conditions in city affecting house and life and most of all the noise pollution have been become factor that makes people's life hard without need to say. Recently researches have been performed to create comfortable urban environment and a study on the evaluation of urban environmental sounds is now undergoing. This study aimed to analyse the subjective characteristics through the subjective evaluation to the sounds measured with physical parameters and eventually to find out evaluation method for urban environmental sounds. Vocabularies applied to previous studies were used for the subjective evaluation and sound sources recorded in specific places were presented with picture at the same time.
