  • Magneto-cardiogram(MCG) signals may be highly distorted by the environmental noise, such as power-line interference, broadband white noise, surrounding magnetic noise, and baseline wondering. Several kinds of digital filters and noise cancellation methods have been designed and realized by many researchers, but these methods gave some problems that the original signal may be distorted by digital filter due to the wideband characteristics of background noise. To eliminate noise effectively without distortion of MCG signals, we performed multi-level frequency decomposition using wavelet packets and local adaptive noise cancellation in each local frequency range. In addition to the proposed wavelet filter to eliminate these various non-stationary noise elements, the local adaptive filter using the least mean square(LMS) algorithm and the soft threshold do-noising method are introduced in this paper. The signal to noise ratio(SNR) and the reconstruction square error(RSE) are calculated to evaluate the performance of the proposed method and compared with the results of the conventional wavelet filter and adaptive filter. The experimental results show that the proposed local adaptive filtering method is better than the conventional methods.

산업현장에서의 선택적 소음 제거를 위한 환경 사운드 분류 기술 (Environmental Sound Classification for Selective Noise Cancellation in Industrial Sites)

  • 본 논문에서는 산업현장에서의 선택적 소음 제거를 위한 환경 사운드 분류 기술을 제안한다. 산업현장에서의 소음은 작업자의 청력 손실의 주요 원인이 되며, 소음 문제를 해결하기 위한 소음 제거 기술이 널리 연구되고 있다. 그러나 기존 소음 제거 기술은 모든 소리를 구분 없이 차단하는 문제를 가지며, 모든 소음에 공통된 제거 방법을 적용하여 각 소음에 최적화된 소음 제거 성능을 보장할 수 없다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 사운드 종류에 따라 선택적 동작을 하는 소음 제거가 필요하고, 본 논문에서는 이를 위해 딥 러닝 기반의 환경 사운드 분류 기술을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 기존 오디오 특성인 멜-스펙트로그램의 한계를 극복하기 위해 새로운 특성으로서 멜-스펙트로그램 기반의 시간 변화 특성과 통계적 주파수 특성을 사용하며, 합성곱 신경망을 이용하여 특성을 모델링 한다. 제안하는 분류기를 사용하여 3가지 소음과 2가지 비소음으로 구성된 총 5가지 클래스로 사운드를 분류하였고, 제안하는 오디오 특성을 사용하여 기존 멜-스펙트로그램 특성을 사용할 때에 비하여 분류 정확도가 6.6% 포인트 향상되는 것을 확인하였다.

Common Mode Noise Reduction for an LLC Resonant Converter by Using Passive Noise Cancellation

  • This paper describes the application of a passive noise cancellation method to a prototype inductor-inductor-capacitor (LLC) resonant converter by placing a compensation winding in a transformer to reduce common mode noise. The connection method for the compensation winding is investigated. A circuit analysis is implemented for the displacement currents between the primary and secondary windings in the transformer. The analyzed displacement currents are verified by performing a circuit simulation and a proper compensation winding connection that reduces common mode noise is found. The measurement results show that common mode noise is reduced effectively up to 20 dB in the 1 to 7 MHz frequency region for the prototype LLC resonant converter by using the proposed passive noise cancellation method.

Acoustic emission source location and noise cancellation for crack detection in rail head

  • Taking advantage of the high sensitivity and long-distance detection capability of acoustic emission (AE) technique, this paper focuses on the crack detection in rail head, which is one of the most vulnerable parts of rail track. The AE source location and noise cancellation were studied on the basis of practical rail profile, material and operational noise. In order to simulate the actual AE events of rail head cracks, field tests were carried out to acquire the AE waves induced by pencil lead break (PLB) and operational noise of the railway system. Wavelet transform (WT) was first utilized to investigate the time-frequency characteristics and dispersion phenomena of AE waves. Here, the optimal mother wavelet was selected by minimizing the Shannon entropy of wavelet coefficients. Regarding the obvious dispersion of AE waves propagating along the rail head and the high operational noise, the wavelet transform-based modal analysis location (WTMAL) method was then proposed to locate the AE sources (i.e. simulated cracks) respectively for the PLB-induced AE signals with and without operational noise. For those AE signals inundated with operational noise, the Hilbert transform (HT)-based noise cancellation method was employed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Finally, the experimental results demonstrated that the proposed crack detection strategy could locate PLB-simulated AE sources effectively in the rail head even at high operational noise level, highlighting its potential for field application.

  • An alternative inverse feedback structure for adaptive active control of periodic noise is introduced for systems with nonminimum phase cancellation path. To obtain the inverse model of the nonminimum phase cancellation path, the cancellation path model can be factorized into a minimum phase term and a maximum phase term. The maximum phase term containing unstable zeros makes the inverse model unstable. To avoid the instability, we alter the inverse model of the maximum phase system into an anti-causal FIR one. An LMS predictor estimates the future samples of the noise, which are necessary for causality of both anti-causal FIR approximation for the stable inverse of the maximum phase system and time-delay existing in the cancellation path. The proposed method has a faster convergence behavior and a better transient response than the conventional FX-LMS algorithms with the same internal model control structure since a filtered reference signal is not required. We compare the proposed methods with the conventional methods through simulation studies.

  • OFDM 시스템은 스펙트럼 효율 때문에 각광받고 있지만, ICI의 원인인 주파수 오차와 위상 잡음에 민감하다는 단점을 가지고 있다. ICI 자가상쇄 방법은 주파수 오차나 위상 잡음을 없애는데 좋은 성능을 가지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 N/2 간격의 conjugate 데이터 방법을 이용하여 주파수 오차와 위상잡음이 많이 존재하는 상황 (주파수 오차=$0.2{\sim}0.4$, 위상잡음=10도 정도)에서 성능이 좋은 ICI 자가 상쇄 방식을 제안한다. 또한, 파일럿을 이용하여 좀더 효율적인 ICI 자가상쇄 방법을 제안한다. 모의실험 결과는 이러한 제안된 방식의 성능이 기존의 방식보다 우수하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This paper presents performance improvement in optical CDMA system under the presence of beat noise using a cancellation technique. Optical fibers and atmospheric optical communications have been proposed the connection between base stations and central station. The optical signal beat noise is due to interference between lightwave, many optical waves are simultaneously incident on each receiver photodiode. Since the photodiode acts as a square-law detector, beat noise can occur in the receiver. While A two-stage cancellation technique is analyzed and verified via simulation employed here because of its system simplicity. By using the random ingredients of all user signals are estimated, the beat noise is rebuilt and removed from the intended signal. In addition to cancellation technique cancel the inherent multiuser interference (MUI) in CDMA system and nonlinear distortion (NLD) in optical system. It is performed at the receiver of the central station where the random ingredients of all user signals are estimated and the MUI and the NLD are rebuilt and removed from the received signal. The validity of the cancellation technique is theoretically analyzed and shown by numerical results. The increasing of capacity in two stage cancellation are obtained.

Touch Screen Sensing Circuit with Rotating Auto-Zeroing Offset Cancellation

  • In this paper, we present a rotating auto-zeroing offset cancellation technique, which can improve the performance of touch screen sensing circuits. Our target touch screen detection method employs multiple continuous sine waves to achieve a high speed for large touch screens. While conventional auto-zeroing schemes cannot handle such continuous signals properly, the proposed scheme does not suffer from switching noise and provides effective offset cancellation for continuous signals. Experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the signal-to-noise ratio by 14 dB compared to a conventional offset cancellation scheme. For the realistic simulation results, we used Cadence SPECTRE with an accurate TSP model and noise source. We also applied an asymmetric device size (10% MOS size mismatch) to the OP Amp design in order to measure the effectiveness of offset cancellation. We implemented the proposed circuit as part of a touch screen controller system-on-chip by using a Magnachip/SK Hynix 0.18-µm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process.

  • 초음파 비파괴 평가에서 적응 노이즈 제거 기법은 시험 재료의 결정립 구조(grain structure)로 인해 공간적으로 변화하는 노이즈를 감소시키는데 적합하다. 일반적으로 결정립 노이즈는 비상관 관계성을 가지고 있는 반면에 결점(flaw) 신호는 상관 관계성을 띄고 있기 때문에 적응 필터링 알고리즘으로 출력 신호의 신호 대 잡음비를 향상시키기 위해 신호의 상관관계 특징을 이용한다. 본 논문에서는 초음파 탐상의 결함 검출 능력 향상을 위해 적응 LMSE(least mean square error) 필터를 이용한 다단계 적응 노이즈 제거기법(multi-stage adaptive noise cancellation)을 제시한다.

  • 고속 데이터 전송을 목표로 하는 다중 반송파 시스템인 OFDM통신 시스템에서는 송수신단의 발진기에서 발생하는 위상잡음이 인접 채널간 간섭(ICI: Inter-sub-carrier-interference)을 야기시켜 통신성능에 악영향을 끼친다. 본 논문에서는 ICI 영향을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있는 새로운 data-conjugate 형식의 ICI 제거방법을 제안하고, 위상잡음 선형 근사화 기법을 이용하여 위상잡음에 의해 발생하는 CPE(common phase error), ICI 그리고 CIR(carrier to interference ratio)를 분석한다. 그리고 원래의 OFDM, 기존의 data-conversion 형식의 ICI 제거방법 과 비교하였을 때의 위상잡음에 의한 성능 개선 효과를 분석한다. 결과적으로 ICI 제거방법을 사용하였을 때 성능개선 효과를 얻을 수 있으며, 종전에 연구된 data-conversion 형식의 ICI 제거방법보다 본 연구에서 제안한 data-conjugate 형식의 ICI 제거방법을 사용하였을 때 더 좋은 통신 성능을 얻을 수 있다.
