대형 디젤엔진의 소음 개선에 대한 기초 연구 (Basic Study on the Performance Improvement of HD Diesel Engine)

  • The evaluation of the noise for the an existing engine was carried out to improve the current noise level. The applied techniques were 1m air-borne noise, combustion noise analysis, torsional analysis at the front pulley and sound pressure intensity. In addition, the evaluation of the possibility to the noise reduction by means of wrapping the parts was performed to propose the detailed information in engine design. In view of the obtained results, the following countermeasures were recommended to reduce the current noise level through the above methods. Furthermore, in order to assess the influence of combustion noise on the overall engine noise, the noise test was also performed by the change of intake air temperature up to 5$0^{\circ}C$ in steps of 1$0^{\circ}C$. Finally, the fixed design specifications to reduce the engine noise will be decided in consideration of the test data for proto type engine.

감성공학을 기초한 진공청소기의 음질 인덱스 개발 (Development of Index for Sound Quality Evaluation of Vacuum Cleaner Based on Human Sensibility Engineering)

  • In our life, we have used many digital appliances. They help us to improve the quality of life but sometimes give us unsatisfactory result. Because they produce specific noise. Especially vacuum cleaner produce much noise that is very annoying. So we need to study what sound metrics affect human sensibility. In this paper, we develop sound quality index for vacuum cleaner using the sound quality metrics defined in psychoacoustics. First, we carry out the subjective evaluation of vacuum cleaner sound to verify what vacuum sound feels good to human. And then artificial neural network estimated the complexity and the nonlinear characteristics of the relations between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. Finally the ANN is trained repeatedly to have a good performance for sound qualify index of the vacuum cleaner. As a result, the sound quality index of vacuum cleaner has a correlation of $93.5\%$ between the subjective evaluation and ANN. So, there exist three factors that Is loudness, sharpness, roughness which affect the sound quality of vacuum cleaner.

EVALUATION OF ROAD-INDUCED NOISE OF A VEHICLE USING EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH

  • In this paper a systematic test procedure for evaluation of road-induced noise of a vehicle and guidelines for each test are presented. Also, a practical application of the test procedure to a small SUV is presented. According to the test procedure, all the tests were performed to evaluate road-induced booming noise that is in low frequency range. First of all the information on characteristics of road-induced noise was obtained through baseline test. Coupling effects between body structure and acoustic cavity of a compartment were obtained by means of modal tests for a structure and an acoustic cavity. Local stiffness of joint areas between chassis system and car-body was determined by test for measurement of input point inertance. Noise sensitivities of body joints to operational forces were obtained through test for measurement of noise transfer functions. Operational deflection shapes made us analyze behaviors of chassis system under running condition and then find sources of noise due to resonance of the chassis system. Finally, Principal Component Analysis and Transfer Path Analysis were utilized to investigate main paths of road-induced noise. In order to evaluate road-induced booming noise exactly, all of tests mentioned above should be performed systematically.

  • 최근 다양한 분야에서 디지털 장비의 사용이 증가함에 따라 영상 및 신호처리의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 하지만 디지털 신호는 송수신 과정에서 많은 종류의 잡음이 발생하며 고장의 원인이 되고 있다. 이러한 이유로 여러 분야에서 잡음 제거를 전처리 과정으로서 필수적으로 행한다. 본 논문은 임펄스 잡음과 AWGN이 혼합된 잡음을 제거하기 위해 잡음 판단을 통해 잡음을 구분하여 잡음 제거를 진행한다. 그리고 잡음 종류에 따라 변형된 가우시안 필터와 방향성 유효 화소를 이용하여 처리하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 우수한 잡음제거 특성을 나타내었으며, 객관적인 판단을 위해 기존 방법들과 비교하였다.

Annoyance 반응에 의한 중량충격음 평가척도 구성 (Establishing Evaluation Modifiers for the Annoyance Responses to Heavyweight Impact Noise)

  • The auditory experiments based on the subjective annoyance responses were undertaken for the establishment of the adverb modifiers of the heavy-weight impact noises. The standard heavy weight impact noise, impact ball noise and adult walking noise were recorded by dummy head at a newly-built apartment and were presented to the subjects by headphones. The levels of the three impact noises were varied from 30 to 60㏈(A) and the subjects matched one of the adverb modifiers to each level of the noise sources. As a result, seven scale modifiers were established and the intervals between the modifiers were found as equal. In addition, it was found that the lower annoyance noise limits for the heavyweight impact, impact ball and walking were 40-45㏈ (L$\sub$I, Fmax. AW), which is 6㏈ lower than in the previous study. The background noise level was as low as 21㏈(A) in the test booth, therefore, the testing conditions need to be concerned for evaluation of floor impact noise.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose indoor noise level in residential buildings affected by transportation noise (road traffic, railway and air-craft noise) based on subjective evaluations. 30 subjects participated in the experiment to evaluate the noise.   • Passengers are much interested in ineroir noise caused speed-up and mass reduction of railway vehicles. Generally, the major noise source for passenger cars are rolling noise and aerodynamic noise. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the noise level and to analyze the noise sources for domestic and KTX trains. We also measured the interior noise and the rolling noise for passenger cars. In result, the noise level is below 65dBA for Seamaeul coachs, and below 66dBA for KTX coachs.

  • In evaluating sound performance of building, it is important to carry on tests and evaluations based upon residential sound performances. Korean Standards include test methods on sound performance, but don't include any code on evaluation methods. Therefore, evaluation methods from Japan or ISO have been used for evaluating sound performance in domestic so far. In this study, a draft of Korean Standards on a sound performance evaluation method in buildings is proposed.

  • Estimation of damping ratio for vibration signals measured on the passenger car's seat is useful for the objective evaluation of impact harshness in car. The vibration signal is a transient signal represented by many coupled modes of suspension system. Wavelet transform automatically decouples these modes in the time-frequency domain. Damping ratios for decoupled modes are obtained by logarithmic treatment for the Wavelet transformed signal. The objective evaluation using Wavelet transform has been well corresponded with subjective evaluation done by skilled engineers.

Especially a vacuum cleaner produces a great deal of noise that is very annoying. So we need to study what sound metrics affect human sensibility. In this paper, we will study sound quality index for vacuum cleaner. The subjective evaluation of vacuum cleaner sound can be indicated to objective parameters by sound metrics of psychoacoustics. The artificial neural network can estimate the nonlinear characteristics of relation between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. We applied the artificial neural network to the development of sound quality index for vacuum sound.
