Fabrication of bi-axially textured nickel tape using nickel powder (니켈 분말을 이용한 양축정렬된 nickel tape의 제조)

  • Short-length and long-length Ni tapes were fabricated by powder processing, cold rolling and recrystallizatioon heat treatment. In the case of the short-length Ni tape, both in-plane and out-of-plane texture were less than $10^{\circ}$. In the case of the long-length Ni tape, the degree of texture is lower than that of the short-length Ni tape. The relationship between the texture formation and the processing parameter is reported.

  • Ni-13%Cr and Ni-70%Cu alloy tapes were prepared by using high purity metal powders as starting materials. The Ni-13%Cr and the Ni-70%Cu mixtures were isostatically pressed, sintered, rolled and texture-annealed. SEM EDS analysis showed that copper and nickel atoms were completely mixed, while the alloying between the chromium powders and the nickel powders was incomplete. In spite of incomplete alloying between nickel and chromium powders, sharp cube-texture was developed for the Ni-13%Cr tape as well as the Ni-70%Cu tape.

  • 고순도 니켈분말을 사용하여 성형, 소결, 압연 및 중간소둔 공정을 통해 cube-texture를 갖는 니켈테이프를 제조하였다. 제조된 니켈테이프의 texture는 성형압력, 성형체의 소결 온도 및 시간, 냉간 압하율 및 중간열처리에 따라 달라지는 것을 관찰하였다. 200kgf/cm$^2$ 의 성형압력으로 제조한 성형체를 1000$^{\circ}$C의 온도에서 8시간열처리한 소결체를 100${\sim}$50 $_{\mu}$m로 압연된 tape을1000$^{\circ}$C 1시간 열처리 할 때 가장 우수한 texture를 가지는 tape을 제조할 수 있었다. 긴 니켈테이프를 제조하기 위해 50cm 길이의 mold에서 성형한 green-pellet을 불활성 분위기(Ar:96%-H$_2$:4%)에서 1000$^{\circ}$C, 8시간동안 열처리하여 소결하였다 400mm길이에 17${\sim}$20mm 두께의 소결체를 압연하여 100$_{\mu}$m두께의 긴 니켈 테이프를 제조하였다. 제조한 테이프의 texture는 소형으로 제조한 테이프에 비해 떨어졌으며 이는 압연 시 시료에 너무 큰 인장력을 가했기 때문으로 사료된다.

Effect of Heat Treatment on the Adhesive Strength of Electoless Nickel Deposits (무전해법으로 Slide Glass 위에 도금된 Ni층의 접착력에 미치는 열처리의 영향)

  • Surface modification before coating nickel by coupling agents and/or etchant of glass did not provide enough adhesive strength of electroless nickel deposits on glass. Effect of heat treatments on hardness as well as adhesion of nickel deposits was studied by using tape test for adhesion, nanoindenter for hardness and glancing angle x-ray diffractometer (GAXRD) for phase characterization. Heat treatment improved hardness as well as adhesion. XRD results give that the improvements of adhesion and hardness are due to the formation of $NiSiO_4$ around the interface between the nickel deposits and the glass and the precipitation of $Ni_3P$ causing precipitation hardening, respectively. Fabrication of YBCO coated conductors using the nickel tapes textured in single crystalline qualities

  • Ni tapes were textured by taking advantage of their secondary recrystallization. The obtained 18cm long tapes had textures of single crystalline qualities with their [001] axes tilted with respect to the surface and their [010] axes parallel to the rolling direction. YBCO/CeO$_2$/YSZ/CeO$_2$ films grown on the Ni tape had the same crystalline orientations. Magnetic field dependent I-V relations were measured on a 5cm section of the tape. Jc defined by 1mV criterion was 1.5 ${\times}$ 10$^5$A/cm$^2$ at 77K under zero field and was reduced by ${\sim}$50% under the applied magnetic field of 5T.

  • Ni tapes were textured by taking advantage of their secondary recrystallization. The reproducibility of this texturing was checked by taking statistics on the crystal orientations of 24 Ni tapes. $YBCO/CeO_2/YSZ/CeO_2$ films grown on the Ni tape had the same crystalline orientations. Magnetic field dependent I-V relations were measured on a 5cm section of the tape. $J_c$ defined by $20{\mu}V/mm$ criterion was $1.5\times10^5A/cm^2$ at 77K under zero field and was reduced by $\sim$50% under the applied magnetic field of 5T.
