조선업 용접작업장의 공기중 입자상물질 및 구성성분에 관한 연구 (An Evaluation on Airborne Particulate and It's Components in the Welding Workplace for the Ship Construction Industry)

  • This research was performed to evaluate the airborne personal concentration of hazardouse materials during the process of ship construction and surveyed from May 23 to June 30, 2007 in Kyungnam West Distirct, Korea. The subject was 94 ship construction workers exposed to welding fume and respirable particulate. The airborne concentrations of those were compared to Permissible Exposure Limit(PEL) from the Ministry of Labor in Korea. The airborne concentration of 23 samples(48.9%) of welding fumes was less than $5mg/m^3$, that of 16 (34.0%) was between 5 and $10mg/m^3$, and that of 8 (17.0%) was greater than $10mg/m^3$. The airborne concentration of 27 (57.4%) of respirable particulate masses was less than $5mg/m^3$ and the othere are greater than $5mg/m^3$. The welding fumes were identified containing the heavy metasl such as Fe, Mn, Zn, Mg, Ca, and Cu. The respirable particulates has similiar tendency with welding fumes in the component of heavy metals. But the concentration of Ca, Cu, Cr, and Ni turned out to be higher in welding fumes. Twenty (42.6%) of the 47 samples of welding fumes were exceeded PEL. In the heavy metals in welding fumes, ten (21.3%) of the 47 samples of Mn were exceeded PEL. Based on the results, the higher airborne hazardous materials were still exposed to wokers in ship construction process. It is suggested that the appropriate engineering control be applied to minimize the exposed cocnetration in ship building processes.

국내 일부 초등학교 바닥먼지 내 화학적 및 생물학적 유해인자의 분석 (Chemical and Microbiological Hazard Analysis of Floor-Settled Dust in Elementary School Classrooms in Korea)

  • Objectives: This study investigated the levels and components of floor-settled dust in two elementary schools located at different sites (one near the Shihwa industrial complex and the other in a rural area) in order to evaluate the amounts of trace metal elements (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) and microorganisms. Methods: Over twenty settled-dust samples were collected from the two elementary schools. Trace metal elements were extracted from the dust using hydrochloric acid and nitric acid, and the amounts were measured by ICP-OES. Microbiological analysis was performed by bacterial culturing using R2A medium and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). Results: The results showed that the amounts of three metal elements (Cr, Pb, and Zn) were significantly different between the schools (${\alpha}$=0.05, p<0.04). In addition, microbial communities in each school were highly correlated with one another. Among the identified microorganisms, a number of potentially opportunistic microorganisms, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumannii, were found. Conclusions: This study will provide preliminary data for assessing levels and types of chemical and microbiological agents in elementary schools and for further evaluating human health risks associated with the agents.

남극 킹조지섬 마리안소만에서 침강 입자와 금속 플럭스의 계절 변화 (Seasonal Variations of Settling Particles and Metal Fluxes at a Nearshore Site of Marian Cove, King George Island, Antarctica)

  • Seasonal variations of settling particles and metal fluxes were monitored at a nearshore site of Marian Cove, King Geroge Island, Antarctica from 28th February 1998 to 22nd January 2000. Near-bottom sediment traps were deployed at 30m water depth of the cove, and sampling bottles were recovered every month by SCUBA divers. Total particulate flux and metal concentrations were determined from the samples. Total particulate flux showed a distinct seasonality, high in austral summer and low in austral winter: the highest flux $(21.97g\;m^{-2}d^{-1})$ was found in February of 1999, and the lowest $(2.47g\;m^{-2}d^{-1})$ in September of 1998, when sea surface was frozen completely. Lithogenic particle flux accounted for 90% of the total flux, and showed a significantly negative correlation with the thickness of snow accumulation around the study site. It was suggested that the most of the lithogenic particles trapped in the bottles was transported by melt water stream from the surrounding land. Fluxes of Al, Fe, Ti, Mn, Zn, Cii, Co, Ni, Cr, Cd, and Pb showed similar seasonal variations with the total flux, and their averaged fluxes were 34000, 9000,960, 180, 13.8, 17.6, 3.0,2.1, 5.4, 0.02, and $1.5nmol\;m^{-2}d^{-1}$ respectively. Among the metals, Cu and Cd showed the most noticeable seasonal patterns. The Cd flux correlated positively with the fluxes of biogenic components while the Cu flux correlated with both the lithogenic and biogenic particle fluxes. The Cu flux peak in the late summer is likely related to a substantial amount of inflow of ice melt water laden with Cu-enriched lithogenic particles. On the other hands, the Cd flux peak in the early spring may be associated with the unusually early occurred phytoplankton bloom.

MACRO-SHEAR BOND STRENGTH AND MICRO-SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF CEROMER BONDED TO METAL ALLOY AND FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE

  • Statement of problem. According to the fracture pattern in several reports, fractures most frequently occur in the interface between the ceromer and the substructure. Purpose. The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the macro shear bond strength and microshear bond strength of a ceromer bonded to a fiber reinforced composite (FRC) as well as metal alloys. Material and methods. Ten of the following substructures, type II gold alloy, Co-Cr alloy, Ni-Cr alloy, and FRC (Vectris) substructures with a 12 mm in diameter, were imbedded in acrylic resin and ground with 400, and 1, 000-grit sandpaper. The metal primer and wetting agent were applied to the sandblasted bonding area of the metal specimens and the FRC specimens, respectively. The ceromer was placed onto a 6 mm diameter and 3 mm height mold in the macro-shear test and 1 mm diameter and 2 mm height mold in the micro-shear test, and then polymerized. The macro- and micro-shear bond strength were measured using a universal testing machine and a micro-shear tester, respectively. The macro- and micro-shear strength were analyzed with ANOVA and a post-hoc Scheffe adjustment ($\alpha$ = .05). The fracture surfaces of the crowns were then examined by scanning electron microscopy to determine the mode of failure. Chi-square test was used to identify the differences in the failure mode. Results. The macro-shear strength and the micro-shear strength differed significantly with the types of substructure (P<.001). Although the ceromer/FRC group showed the highest macroand micro-shear strength, the micro-shear strength was not significantly different from that of the base metal alloy groups. The base metal alloy substructure groups showed the lowest mean macro-shear strength. However, the gold alloy substructure group exhibited the least micro-shear strength. The micro-shear strength was higher than the macro-shear strength excluding the gold alloy substructure group. Adhesive failure was most frequent type of fracture in the ceromer specimens bonded to the gold alloys. Cohesive failure at the ceromer layer was more common in the base metals and FRC substructures. Conclusion. The Vectris substructure had higher shear strength than the other substructures. Although the shear strength of the ceromer bonded to the base metals was lower than that of the gold alloy, the micro-shear strength of the base metals were superior to that of the gold alloy.

2010년도 서울시 대기 중 PM2.5의 성분특성 및 발생원 추정에 관한 연구 (Chemical Characteristics and Source Apportionment ofPM2.5 in Seoul Metropolitan Area in 2010)

  • This study is aimed to estimate the $PM_{2.5}$ source apportionment at Seoul intensive monitoring site located in Seoul metropolitan area. Time-resolved chemical compositions of $PM_{2.5}$ are measured in real time using ambient ion monitor, semi-continuous carbon monitor, and on-line XRF at Seoul intensive monitoring site in 2010. The mass concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ was simultaneously monitored with eight ionic species (${SO_4}^{2-}$, $NO_3{^-}$, $Cl^-$, $NH_4{^+}$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$), two carbonaceous species (OC and EC), and fourteen elements (Si, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, As, Se, Pb) in 1-hr interval. The data sets were then analyzed using EPA PMF version 3 to identify sources and contributions to $PM_{2.5}$ mass. EPA PMF modeling identified eight PM2.5 sources, including soil dust, secondary sulfate, secondary nitrate, motor vehicle, coal combustion, oil combustion, biomass burning, and municipal incineration. This study found that the average $PM_{2.5}$ mass was apportioned to anthropogenic sources such as motor vehicle, fuel combustion, and biomass burning (61%) and secondary aerosols, including sulfate and nitrate (38%).

경남 밀양지역 납석광상과 안산암질 모암의 지구화학적 연구 (A Geochemical Study on Pyrophyllite Deposits and Andesitic Wall-Rocks in the Milyang Area, Kyeongnam Province)

  • Several pyrophyllite deposits occur around the Milyang area where Cretaceous andesitic rocks and spatially related granitic rocks are widely distributed. Pyrophyllite ores consist mainly of pyrophyllite, and quartz with small amount of sericite, pyrite, dumortierite, and diaspore. The andesitic rocks and spatially related granitic rocks in this area suggest that they could be formed from the same series of a calc-alkaline magma series. The contents of $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, LOI(loss on ignition) are enriched, and $K_2O$, $Na_2O$, CaO, MgO, $Fe_2O_3$ are depleted in altered andesitic rocks and ores. Enrichment of As, Cr, Sr, V, Sb and depletion of Ba, Cs, Ni, Rb, U, Y, Co, Sc, Zn are characteristic during mineralization. The pyrophyllite ores can be discriminated from the altered-and unaltered wall-rocks by an increasing of $(La/Lu)_{cn}$ from 4.18~22.13 to 8.98~55.05. In R-mode cluster analysis, Yb-Lu-Y, La-Ce-Hf-Th-U-Zr, $TiO_2-V-Al_2O_3$, Sm-Eu, $CaO-Na_2O-MnO$, Cu-Zn-Ag, $K_2O-Rb$ are closely correlated. In the discriminant analysis of multi-element data, $P_2O_5$, As, Cr and $Fe_2O_3$, Sr are helpful to identify the ores from the unaltered-and altered wall-rocks. In the factor analysis, the factors of alteration of andesitic rocks and ore mineralization were extracted. In the change of ions per unit volume, $SiO_2$, $Al^{3+}$ and LOI are enriched and $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ are depleted during the alteration processes. The Milyang and the Sungjin pyrophyllite deposits could be mineralized by hydrothermal alteration in a geochemical condition of low activity ratio of alkaline ions to hydrogen ion with reference to spatially related granitic rocks.

발전용 석탄의 전처리에 의한 중금속 배출 (Reduction of Toxic Emissions by Coal Cleaning)

  • 석탄중에는 미량원소(trace elements)가 포함되어 있으며 이들의 농도는 석탄의 종류나 산지에 따라 크게 다르다. 석탄중의 미량원소를 제거하는 것은 그동안 크게 문제가 되지 않았으나 최근 환경문제가 점차 고조되면서 이에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 일반적으로 사람의 건강 및 환경에 유해한 원소중에서 화석연료 사용과 관련이 있는 원소는 비소(As), 카드늄(Cd), 납(Pb), 구리(Cu), 수은(Hg), 니켈(Ni), 셀레니움(Se) 및 아연(Zn) 등 8개 원소이다. 그러나 그외에도 배출규제의 대상이 되는 원소는 코발트(Co), 염소(Cl), 안티모니(Sb), 베릴리움(Be), 크롬(Cr)과 망간(Mn)이며 이중 망간은 석탄사용과 직접적인 관련이 있다. 따라서 Mn을 포함한 9개 원소가 석탄의 사용에 따른 중금속 방출과 관련이 있는 것으로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 발전용 석탄에 대한 물리적 전처리 공정을 적용하여 석탄중의 광물질등을 미리 제거하므로서 연소 후 배출되는 배기가스중의 중금속 저감 가능성을 관찰하였다. 본 연구결과 전처리 공정의 석탄중의 Trace elements양을 감소시키므로서 연소 후 중금속의 배출량을 크게 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다. 발전소에 적용하고 있는 ESP가 배출가스중 As, Cu, Zn, Mn등의 중금속을 제거하는데 효율적이기는 하나 가스상으로 존재하는 Hg, Se등을 제거하는데는 효율적이지 못하다. 전처리공정 전후 회분중에 함유된 미량원소를 분석한 결과, 국내 무연탄이나 해외 유연탄 모두 중금속 제거에 있어서 유사한 경향을 보여주었으며, Pb, Zn, Mn 등은 50∼70%, 특히 Hg 배출량은 80% 이상 저감이 가능하였다. 전반적으로 년간 총 중금속 배출량도 50∼60%가 감소하여 전처리 공정이 석탄중의 중금속을 줄이는데 크게 기여함을 확인하였다.을 선택할 수 있는 메뉴 그리고 계산 결과를 파일로 혹은 프린트로 출력할 것을 선택할 수 있는 메뉴가 있다. 사용자는 해당되는 데이타를 입력한후 마우스로 원하는 작업의 메뉴를 선택하면 된다. 방법을 타액과 혈청내 testosterone 농도 측정에 응용하여 RIA의 결과와 비교하여 본 바 상관관계가 타액에서 r=0.969, 혈청에서 r=0.990으로 두 결과가 잘 일치하였다. 본 실험에서 측정된 한국인 여성의 타액내 testosterone농도는 107.7$\pm$12.0 pmol/l이었고, 남성의 타액내 농도는 274.2$\pm$22.1 pmol/l이었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 본 연구에서 정립된 EIA 방법은 RIA를 대신하여 소규모의 실험실에서도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사려된다.또한 상실기 이후 배아에서 합성되며, 발생시기에 따라 그 영향이 다르고 팽창과 부화에 관여하는 것으로 사료된다. 더욱이, 조선의 ${\ulcorner}$구성교육${\lrcorner}$이 조선총독부의 관리하에서 실행되었다는 것을, 당시의 사범학교를 중심으로 한 교육조직을 기술한 문헌에 의해 규명시켰다.nd of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea. 원자층 증착을 이용한 친환경 소재의 제조 (Fabrication of Environmental-friendly Materials Using Atomic Layer Deposition)

  • 본 총론에서는 원자층 증착을 이용한 친환경 소재의 개발에 대한 최근 연구 결과들을 간단하게 소개하려 한다. 원자층 증착의 장점은 박막의 두께를 미세하게 조절할 수 있다는 것과, 3차원적으로 복잡한 구조를 가지는 담체의 형상을 유지하면서 균일한 박막을 제조할 수 있다는 것이다. 이러한 원자층 증착의 장점은 친환경소재를 제조하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다. Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO)와 같은 다공성 membrane을 담체로 이용하여, 다공성 구조는 그대로 유지하면서 10나노미터 정도의 $TiO_2$박막을 균일하게 증착할 경우 톨루엔 등의 휘발성 유기물 필터로 사용할 수 있는데, 이는 AAO의 특이한 기하학적 구조와 비정질 $TiO_2$의 강한 휘발성 유기물 흡착력의 조합에 의한 결과이다. 톨루엔 분해용 광촉매 및 이산화탄소 개질 반응에 의한 수소 생산 촉매 반응에 있어서도 나노다이아몬드나 니켈 담체 위에 $TiO_2$의 증착량을 미세하게 조절하여 $TiO_2$가 표면을 완전히 덮지 않고 부분적으로만 덮고 있는 구조를 만들 경우 촉매의 효율 및 수명을 극대화할 수 있게 된다. 이러한 예들은 원자층 증착이 기존의 반도체산업뿐만 아니라 환경소재의 개발에도 중요한 도구가 될 수 있음을 의미한다.

고남산(古南山) 함(含)티탄자철광상(磁鐵鑛床)의 모암(母岩)인 알카리반려암질암의 암석화학적(岩石化學的) 연구(硏究) (Petrochemical Study on the Alkaline Gabbroic Host Rocks of Titaniferous Magnetite Deposits in Gonamsan, Yeoncheon-Gun, South Korea)

  • The host rocks of titaniferous magnetite deposits in Gonamsan are alkaline gabbros, which are typical of undersaturated alkaline rocks in terms of the lack of normative quartz. According to field occurrences and petrographic features, these alkaline gabbros are divided into 3 rock types: coarse-grained and pegmatitic rock, medium-grained rock with equigranular texture, and layered cumulate rock. All these rocks mainly contain clinopyroxene(salite), plagioclase(An 43-66), pargasite, and ilmenite. The accessory minerals are apatite, sphene, quartz, and sometimes titaniferous magnetite. Pargasite, sphene, and quartz are considered to be secondary minerals formed by the reaction among clinopyroxene, plagioclase and Fe-Ti oxide at deuteric stage. Fe-Ti oxides generally occur as ilmenite in the alkaline rocks, and titaniferous magnetite in the ore deposits. Layered cumulate rocks are characterized by a recurrence of discontinuous thin mesolayer of clinopyroxene-pargasite within leucolayer mainly composed of plagioclase. Clinopyroxene is cumulus mineral whereas plagioclase, ilmenite and apatite occur as intercumulus minerals. According to the variation diagrams of oxide and trace element contents against the differentiation index, incompatible elements, such as Na, Ba and Sr, show positive correlations whereas compatible elements, such as Mg and Cr, show negative correlations. However some compatible elements, such as Co, Ni and V show irregular variations, reflecting relative cumulate status of cumulus and intercumulus minerals. On the de la Roche multicationic diagram, these alkaline gabbros are distributed along the differentiation curve of undersaturated alkaline series from alkaline basaltic composition through basanitic composition to tephritic composition. Layered cumulate rocks, which are distributed between basanitic composition and tephritic composition, reflect their cumulate character, slightly scattering away from the curve. The medium-grained rock shows higher contents in Ba, Sr and light rare earch elements than the coarse-grained and pegmatitic rock. The former shows two times higher contents of total rare earth elements than the latter, $while(La/Lu)_{cn}$ ratios maintain fairly constant values of 5.08~5.06 in these two rocks. This means that coarse-grained and pegmatitic rock, as compared with the medium-grained rock, was formed by the earlier differentiated magma but rare-earth element distribution pattern remained almost parallel during differentiation. From the data the above mentioned, these alkaline gabbros are considered to be comagmatic and to be formed by intrusions of differentiated magmas in its reservoir.

BaCeO3-BaZrO3 고용체(BCZY) 기반 프로톤 세라믹 연료전지(PCFC)용 고성능 전해질 개발 (BaCeO3-BaZrO3 Solid Solution (BCZY) as a High Performance Electrolyte of Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells (PCFCs))

  • To overcome the limitations of the solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) due to the high temperature operation, there has been increasing interest in proton conducting fuel cells (PCFCs) for reduction of the operating temperature to the intermediate temperature range. In present work, the perovskite $BaCe_{0.85-x}Zr_xY_{0.15}O_{3-\delta}$ (BCZY, x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7) were synthesized via solid state reaction (SSR) and adopted as an electrolyte materials for PCFCs. Powder characteristics were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET) surface area analysis. Single phase BCZY were obtained in all compositions, and chemical stability was improved with increasing Zr content. Anode-supported cell with $Ni-BaCe_{0.55}Z_{0.3}Y_{0.15}O_{3-\delta}$ (BCZY3) anode, BCZY3 electrolyte and BCZY3-$Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-\delta}$ (BSCF) composite cathode was fabricated and electrochemically characterized. Open-circuit voltage (OCV) was 1.05 V, and peak power density of 370 ($mW/cm^2$) was achieved at $650^{\circ}C$.
