  • The amorphous Co-based alloy Co66Fe4Ni1B15Si14 (Metglas 2714A) is a suitable magnetic core material for high frequency operation. Appreciable reduction of the coercive force can be achieved by proper heat treatment. In this study, samples annealed at wide temperature range were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry, high frequency B-H loop tester, X-ray diffractometer and resistivity meter. The results show that coercive force at 10 kHz decreases with in-creasing annealing temperature up to 773 K, but dramatically increases above this temperature. The squareness shows that the magnetic anisotropy on longitudinal direction of the as-cast state remains up to 773 K. Above this temperature, it decreases down to 0.5 that represents random distribution of magnetic domains. The crystallization abruptly occurs between 781 K and 783 K.

  • In order to improve the activation properties of the $AB_2$ type hydrogen storage alloys for Ni-MH battery, the alloy surface was modified by employing high energy ball milling. The $Zr_{0.54}Ti_{0.45}V_{0.54}Ni_{0.87}Cr_{0.15}Co_{0.21}Mn_{0.24}$ alloy powder was ball milled for various period by using the high energy ball mill. As the ball milling time increased, activation of the $AB_2$ type composite powder electrodes were enhanced regardless of additives. When the ball milling time was small discharge capacities of the $AB_2$ type composite powder electrodes increased with the milling time. On the other hand for large milling time it decreased with increasing milling time. The maximum discharge capacity was obtained by ball milling for 3-4 min.

  • We present a multi-step cold drawing for a non-equiatomic Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 high entropy alloy (HEA) with a simple face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. The distribution of strain in the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). The effective strain was expected to be higher as it was closer to the surface of the wire. However, the reverse shear strain acted to cause a transition in the shear strain behavior. The critical effective strain at which the shear strain transition behavior is completely shifted was predicted to be 4.75. Severely cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires up to 96% of the maximum cross-sectional reduction ratio were successfully manufactured without breakage. With the assistance of electron back-scattering diffraction and transmission electron microscope analyses, the abundant deformation twins were found in the region of high effective strain, which is a major strengthening mechanism for the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wire.

  • In this paper, Ni-V alloy was studied with different structures and thickness. In case of Ni-V and Ni-V/Co/TiN, low resistive Ni silicide was formed after one step RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) with temperature range from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$ for 30sec in vacuum. After furnace annealing with temperatures range from $550^{\circ}C$ to $650^{\circ}C$ for 30min in nitrogen ambient, Ni-V single structure shows the best thermal stability compare with the other ones. To enhance the thermal stability up to 650oC and find the optimal thickness of Ni silicide, different thickness of Ni-V was studied in this work. Stable sheet resistance was obtained through Ni-V single structure with optimal Ni-V thickness.

  • Safety in sports is important because if an athlete has an accident, he may not be able to lead an everyday life for the rest of his life. The safety of sports facilities is very effective in creating people's sports activities, with the benefits of staying away from physical injury, enjoying sports, and mental peace. Everyone has the right to participate in sports and recreation and to ensure that they want a safe environment. This study prepares a very good Nickel-Cobalt -Silicon carbide (Ni/Co-SiC) nanocomposite with convenient geometry on the leg press machine rod, employing the pulse electrodeposition technique to reduce the rod's wear and increase the durability of sports equipment and control sports damages. The results showed that the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite formed at 2 A/dm2 shows extraordinary microhardness. The wear speed for the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite created at 4 A/dm2 was 15 mg/min, showing superior wear resistance. Therefore, the Ni/Co-SiC nanocomposite can reduce sports equipment's wear and decrease sports injuries. Ni-Co/SiC nanocomposite layers with various scopes of silicon carbide nanoparticles via electrodeposition in a Ni-Co plating bath, including SiC nanoparticles to be co-deposited. The form and dimensions of Silicon carbide nanoparticles are watched and selected using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).

  • The aim of this study is to investigate aging behavior of A356 alloy for turbo charger part. The specimen was fabricated by investment casting. Solution heat treatment was performed at $525^{\circ}C$ for 8h and followed by aging treated at $160^{\circ}C$, $170^{\circ}C$ for 0.5~20h. And their microstructures and mechanical properties of the aged specimens were analyzed by scanning electron microscope and hardness tester, respectively. All the cast A356 alloy included eutectic Si particles. In the cast A356 alloy, eutectic Si phase mainly was formed along Chinese script phase. Vickers hardness of the cast was improved by aging treatment due to formation of ${\beta}$" phase and ${\beta}$' phase.

  • In this work, effect of various process-control agents (PCAs) on the mechanical alloying of amorphous alloy of $Al_{85}Y_8Ni_5Co_2$ has been investigated. The dependence of the particle shape, size and crystallization behavior of the amorphous alloy powders on the type of PCAs and their concentrations was investigated by using X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. It was found that the additive of toluene could affect positively the amorphization and thermally induced crystallization processes, as well as the size refinement, morphology and particle-size distribution of as-milled powders in comparison with alloy obtained without PCA.

  • To obtain the fundamental information on the dissolution of nickel into the slag in the pyrometallurgical processes for treatment of wasted PCB, the distribution ratios of nickel between CaO-$SiO_2-Al_2O_3$-MgO slag and copper-5 wt%Ni alloy were measured at 1623 K to 1823 K under a controlled $CO_2$-CO atmosphere. The distribution ratio of Ni increased linearly with increasing oxygen partial pressure. Therefore, the dissolution reaction of nickel into the slags could be described by the following equation; $$Ni(l)_{metal}+\frac{1}{2}O_2(g)NiO(l)_{slag}$$ The distribution ratio of Ni increased linearly with increasing content of basic oxides(CaO and MgO) in slag. However, the distribution ratio of Ni decreased linearly with increasing temperature. From these results, the empirical equation of distribution ratio of Ni was obtained by the following equation from the analysis of experimental conditions by multiple regression. $${\log}L_{Ni}=0.4000{\log}P_{O2}-5.1{\times}10^{-4}T+0.3375\(\frac{X_{CaO}+X_{MgO}}{X_{SiO2}}\)$$

  • Abstract-Quantitative surface analysis of Co-Ni and Au-Cu alloys by XPS and SIMS was studied. For Co-Ni alloy, quantitative XPS analysis could be done within 1-2% relative error with pure element standards without any correction. For Au-Cu, quantitative XPS analysis was not possible without any correction. But it could be done with standard alloys of various composition within 1-2% relative error. Without standard alloys, Au-Cu alloys could be analyzed by XPS within 10% relative error with pure element standards. For SIMS analysis of Co-Ni alloys, the relative secondary ion yields of Co+/Nit has linear relation with ratio of each composition so that quantitative SIMS analysis was possible for Co-Ni alloys. Preliminary results of XPS round robin test of VAMAS-SCA Japan Project are given.
