  • The effect of deformation temperature and manganes contents on the tensile properties of duplex stainless steels with the structure of both ferrite and austenite were investigate. For this investigation, Fe-19% Cr-5% Ni-4~8% Mn alloys were prepared. The result obtained from this experiment are summerized as follows. With decreasing deformation temperature, tensile strengths of duplex stainless steel increased. Elongation showd to be increased and then decreased after representing the highest value at specific temperature. Tensile properties of duplex stainless steel were controlled by TRIP behavior in this experimental range of austenite contents. Tensile strengths decreased with increasing Mn contents. With increasing Mn contents, elongation decreased in the high temperature region, but increased in the low temperature region. The peak temperature representing the maximum elongation were changed to low temperature and the width of peak appeared to be broaden with increasing Mn contents.

  • SOFC(Solid Oxide Fuel Cell)의 음극으로 쓰이고 있는 Ni-YSZ 복합체의 미세구조를 Ni의 함량에 따라 정량적으로 분석하고 이로부터 미세구조적인 특성과 전극특성간의 상관관계를 규명하였다. 미세구조적인 특성의 정량화를 위해 quantitative microscopy 이론을 응용해 화상분석 하였고 그로부터 복합체내 각 상들의 크기 및 분포, 각 상간의 연결도 및 계면 면적 등의 정보를 얻어내었다. 미세구조 분석결과 복합체 전극의 특성은 입자성장 등에 의한 미세구조 변화, 특히 Ni 상의 입자성장 정도에 크게 의존하였으며 이렇게 정량화된 미세구조적 인자들은 복합체가 나타내는 복잡한 전기적 물성들을 예측하는데 아주 유용하게 활용되었다.

  • Ni0.3Zn0.7Fe2O4 ferrite specimens were fabricated by dry pressing and tape casting method. The properties of each specimen were measured and compared. In order to design and manufacture the chip devices effectively, one important criterion can be that the sintered density of the laminated body should approach close to that of the dry pressed body which is regarded as standard. This requirement could be satisfied by controlling the solid loading of the ferrite sheet, lamination temperature and pressure. Using the optimum conditions (solid loading 55 wt%, lamination temperature 6$0^{\circ}C$, lamination pressure 400 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ 2h) a sintered ferrite, with the density of 5.18g/㎤ and permeability of 1390 at 0.5 MHz, were obtained.

Geochemical Characteristics of Stream Sediments Based on Bed Rocks in the Naju Area, Korea (기반암에 따른 나주지역 하상퇴적물의 지구화학적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate geochemical characteristics for stream sediments in the Naju area. We collected 139 stream sediments samples from primary channels. Samples were dried slowly in the laboratory and chemical analysis was carried out using XRF. ICP-AES and NAA. In order to investigate geochemical characteristics, the geological groups categorized into granitic gneiss area, schist area, granite area, arenaceous rock area, tuff area, andesite area, and rhyolite area. Average contents of major elements for geological groups are $SiO_2\;58.37{\sim}66.06wt.%,\;Al_2O_3\;13.98{\sim}18.41wt.%,\;Fe_2O_3\;4.09{\sim}6.10wt.%,\;CaO\;0.54{\sim}1.33wt.%,\;MgO\;0.86{\sim}1.34wt.%,\;K_2O\;2.38{\sim}4.01wt.%,\;Na_2O\;0.90{\sim}1.32wt.%,\;TiO_2\;0.82{\sim}1.03wt.%,\;MnO\;0.09{\sim}0.15wt.%,\;P_2O_5\;0.11{\sim}0.18wt.%$. According to the comparison of average contents of major elements, $Al_2O_3\;and\;K_2O$ are higher in granitic gneiss area, $Fe_2O_3,\;CaO,\;P_2O_5$ are higher in tuff area, MgO and $TiO_2$ are higher in andesite area, $Na_2O_$ is higher in rhyolite area, $SiO_2$, and MnO are higher in arenaceous rock area. Average contents of minor and rare earth elements for geological groups are $Ba\;1278{\sim}1469ppm,\;Be\;1.1{\sim}1.5ppm,\;Cu\;18{\sim}25ppm,\;Nb\;25{\sim}37ppm,\;Ni\;16{\sim}25ppm,\;Pb\;21{\sim}28ppm,\;Sr\;83{\sim}155ppm,\;V\;64{\sim}98ppm,\;Zr\;83{\sim}146ppm,\;Li\;32{\sim}45ppm,\;Co\;7.2{\sim}12.7ppm,\;Cr\;37{\sim}76ppm,\;Cs\;4.8{\sim}9.1ppm,\;Hf\;7.5{\sim}25ppm,\;Rb\;88{\sim}178ppm,\;Sc\;7.7{\sim}12.6ppm,\;Zn\;83{\sim}143ppm,\;Pa\;11.3{\sim}37ppm,\;Ce\;69{\sim}206ppm,\;Eu\;1.1{\sim}1.5ppm,\;Yb\;1.8{\sim}4.4ppm$. According to the comparison of average contents of minor and rare earth elements for geological groups, Pb, Li, Cs, Hf, Rb, Sb, Pa, Ce, Eu, and Yb are higher in granitic gneiss area; Ba, Co, and Cr in schist area; Nb, Ni, and Zr in arenaceous rock area; Sr in tuff area: and Be, Cu, V, Sc, and Zn are such in andesite area.

Influence of Ni/CeO2-ZrO2 Catalysts on Methane Autothermal Reforming (메탄 자열개질 반응에 대한 Ni/CeO2-ZrO2 촉매의 영향)

  • The catalytic behavior of $Ni/Ce_XZr_{(1-X)}O_2$ loaded on the alumina coated honeycomb monolith was studied for the autothermal reforming reaction of methane. Among the catalysts with the different Ce/Zr ratios, the $Ni/Ce_{0.80}Zr_{0.20}O_2$ Catalyst showed the highest conversion of methane. By investigating the effect of Ni content on the $Ni/Ce_{0.80}Zr_{0.20}O_2$ catalysts, the catalyst loaded with 15wt% Ni had the highest activity. Also, $H_2$ yield was increased as $H_2O/CH_4$ ratio increased. Methane conversion was improved as $O_2/CH_4$ ratio was increased, whereas the yield of $H_2$ was decreased. Among the catalysts tested for 30 hours, $Ni(15wt%)/Ce_{0.80}Zr_{0.20}O_2$ showed the excellent conversion(${\geq}99%$) of methane and the stability at the condition of $GHSV=30,000h^{-1}$, feed ratio S/C/O=2/1/0.5 and reaction temperature $800^{\circ}C$.

Heavy Metal Contents in Commercial Horticultural Growing Media (시판 원예용 상토의 중금속 함량)

  • Heavy metal contents in commercial horticultural growing media were investigated Fifty-three samples were collected nationwide during 2000 to 2001 and heavy metals in the samples were analyzed by ICP-OES after acid digestion and 0.1N HCl extraction. Average contents of total Cd, Cr, Co, Ni, Pb, and Zn by acid digestion in the growing media were 0.69, 35.7, 14.9, 15.5, 12.7, and 54.8 mg/kg DW, respectively. The ranges of heavy metal in the growing media were $0{\sim}1.82$, $0{\sim}259.8$, $1.6{\sim}69.5$, $0{\sim}60.7$, $0{\sim}36.5$, $12.9{\sim}124.0\;mg/kg$ DW for Cd, Cr, Co, Ni, Pb, and Zn, respectively. Heavy metal contents in the commercial horticultural growing media were showed lower levels than the permitted levels for quality control described by Korean Standard Analytical Method for Growing Media. Average contents and ranges of 0.1 N HCl extractable heavy metals were 0.08 and $0{\sim}0.20$ for Cd, 0.38 and $0{\sim}2.10$ for Cr, 1.45 and $0{\sim}4.03$ for Cu, 0.85 and $0{\sim}3.31$ for Ni, 0.84 and $0{\sim}2.21$ for Pb, and 30.68 and $0.18{\sim}88.45\;mg/kg$ DW for Zn, respectively. These concentrations by 0.1 N HCl extraction showed much less levels than those of total heavy metals by acid digestion.

Regional Variability of Manganese Nodule Facies in the KR1 Area in KODOS Area, Northeastern Equatorial Pacific (북동태평양 한국 KODOS 연구지역 중 KR1 지역 망간단괴의 지역적인 특성 변화)

  • High-resolution bathymetry and physico-chemical properties of manganese nodules were explored to identify the relationship between morphological features and nodule occurrences in the KR1, one of the Korean contract nodule fields located in the NE Pacific. The high-resolution seabed mapping showed that the southwestern sector of the KR1 (KR1-1) was relatively deeper than the northeastern sector (KR1-2) which is occupied by small-scale seamounts. In terms of nodule occurrence, manganese nodules in the KR1-1 were comparatively larger (2-4 cm) with rough surface (t-type) and discoidal shapes (D-type), while those in the KR1-2 were generally small (<2 cm) with smooth surface (s-type) and irregular shapes (I-type). In addition, the nodules in the KR1-1 had higher contents of Cu, Mn and Ni. Such connections of water depths to nodule appearances and metal contents are commonly observed in the Pacific nodule fields. On the other hand, the nodules in the KR1-2 tend to be controled by morphological features. The seamounts in the KR1-2 might continuously provide rock fragments as new nuclei of manganese nodules. As a result, the nodules could not grow over than 2 cm and showed the shapes of a newbie (i.e., smooth surface and irregular shapes). As a result, our observations indicate that occurrence features of manganese nodules could be subjected to water depths and seabed morphology simultaneously.

강유전체 $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$박막에 대한 분극피로와 회복현상의 비대칭적인 성질

  • 최근 큰 잔류분극을 가진 강유전체 Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 박막을 이용한 비휘발성 기억소자의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 박막을 비휘발성 기억소자로 응용하는 경우 분극피로(polarization fatigue), imprint, 누설전류 등의 문제점이 나타나는 것으로 알려져 있다. 특히 분극반전 횟수가 증가할수록 잔류분극이 감소하는 분극피로 현상은 비휘발성 기억소자의 응용에 있어서 치명적인 장애가 되므로 기억소자의 실용화를 위해서는 분극피로 현상의 개선이 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 강유전체 박막의 분극피로 현상을 규명하고 개선하기 위해서 다음과 같은 세가 실험적 방법으로 접근하였다. 먼저 Pt와 금속산화물인 LaNiO3을 이용하여 상·하부 전극을 달리하여 제조한 축전기에 대해서 분극피로 특성을 관찰하고 이로부터 분극피로 현상에 대한 전극의 효과를 조사하였다. 여기서 금속산화물인 LaNiO3 박막과 Pt 박막은 r.f. 스퍼트 법으로 증가하였으며 Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 박막은 LaNiO3/Si(100)/와 Pt/Ti/SiO2/i(100) 기판위에 졸겔법으로 제조하였다. 다음으로 분극피로된 박막의 상부전극에 극성이 다른 직류전압을 인가해주었을 때 나타나는 분극회복 현상을 광범위하게 관찰하였으며, 특히 직류전압의 극성에 따라 비대칭적인 분극회복 특성을 보였다. 마지막으로 이와 같은 직류전압에 대한 비대칭적인 분극회복현상에 착안하여 양과 음의 방향으로 바이어스된 스윗칭 펄스를 인가하여 분극피로 특성을 조사한 결과 비대칭적인 분극피로 현상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 Pv(Zr, Ti)O3 박막의 분극피로와 회복의 비대칭적인 현상은 분극피로 현상의 기구를 밝히는 중요한 근거가 되었으며, 본 연구에서는 하부 계면에서의 산소빈자리의 역할로 분극피로 현상을 모형화하였다.식각하기 시작하였으며, 19.5J/cm2에서 유리기판의 rudraus(격벽 두께 130$\mu\textrm{m}$)까지 식각하였다. 대한 정보(RDF)는 명확하게 얻을 수 있었다.nospec과 SEM으로 관찰하였다. 또한 Ge 함량 변화에 따른 morphology 관찰과 변화 관찰을 위하여 AFM, SEM, XRD를 이용하였으며, 이온주입후 열처리 온도에 따른 활성화 정도의 관찰을 위하여 4-point probe와 Hall measurement를 이용하였다. 증착된 다결정 SiGe의 두게를 nanospec과 SEM으로 분석한 결과 Gem이 함량이 적을 때는 높은 온도에서의 증착이 더 빠른 증착속도를 나타내었지만, Ge의 함량이 30% 되었을 때는 온도에 관계없이 일정한 것으로 나타났다. XRD 분석을 한 결과 Peak의 위치가 순수한 Si과 순수한 Ge 사이에 존재하는 것으로 나타났으며, ge 함량이 많아짐에 따라 순수한 Ge쪽으로 옮겨가는 경향을 보였다. SEM, ASFM으로 증착한 다결정 SiGe의 morphology 관찰결과 Ge 함량이 높은 박막의 입계가 다결정 Si의 입계에 비해 훨씬 큰 것으로 나타났으며 근 값도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 포유동물 세포에 유전자 발현벡터로써 사용할 수 있음으로 post-genomics시대에 다양한 종류의 단백질 기능연구에 맡은 도움이 되리라 기대한다.다양한 기능을 가진 신소재 제조에 있다. 또한 경제적인 측면에서도 고부가 가치의 제품 개발에 따른 새로운 수요 창출과 수익률 향상, 기존의 기능성 안료를 나노(nano)화하여 나노 입자를 제조, 기존의 기능성 안료에 대한 비용 절감 효과등을 유도 할 수 있다. 역시 기술적인 측면에서도 특수소재 개발에 있어 최적의 나노 입자 제어기술 개발 및 나노입자를 기능성 소재로 사용하여 새로운 제품의 제조와 고압 기상 분사기술의 최적화에

Vermicomposting of Sludge from Milk Processing Industry (MPS) (지렁이를 이용한 우유가공 폐수처리장 슬러지의 효율적 퇴비화)

  • This study was conducted to determine the optimal ratio of sludges from milk processing industry (MPS), paper-mill industry (PMS) and night-soil treatment plant (NSS) for vermicomposting. Five different ratios, 0 : 80 : 20 (MPS-0), 25 : 60 : 15 (MPS-25), 50 : 40 : 10 (MPS-50), 75 : 20 : 5 (MPS-75), and 100 : 0 : 0 (MPS-100 : control) MPS : PMS : NSS by wet weight were tested in a small plot experiment. The experiment for each mixing ratio was performed for 2 weeks with the three replications. MPS-100 (100 : 0 : 0) only had the highest decomposition rate with 19.9%, followed by MPS-25, MPS-50, MPS-75 and MPS-0 with 19.5, 19.1, 17.6 and 16.7%, respectively. Except for MPS-100, Vermicomposting resulted in increase in ash, T-P, $NO_2{^-}-N$, $NO_3{^-}-N$, Mg, K, As, Cd and Cu, whereas moisture, VS (Volatile Substance), TKN (Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen), $NH_4{^+}-N$, Ca, Hg and Pb were lower in the final cast than the initial feed mixture. Meanwhile Zn showed very slight difference and Cr and Ni did not show any tendency between the feed mixture and the final cast. In the case of MPS-100, where the decomposition rate was the highest, all the heavy metals in the final cast except for Hg were increased. All the vermicomposts produced from five different mixing ratios of the vermicomposting sludges met the Korea Standard as by-product compost.

The Effect of Chemical Composition and Destabilization Heat Treatment on the Amount of Retained Austenite in High Chromium Cast Irons (고크롬주철의 잔류오스테나이트함량에 미치는 화학조성 및 불안정화열처리의 영향)

  • 고크롬주철에 있어서 기지 및 탄화물의 조직제어는 내마모성의 향상을 위해 필수적이다. 특히 기지조직내의 잔류오스테나이트함량은 최적 내마모성을 얻기위해 반드시 조절되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 3% C-18%(or 25%)Cr-Mo-Ni-Mn 고크롬주철을 80$0^{\circ}C$, 90$0^{\circ}C$, 100$0^{\circ}C$ 및 110$0^{\circ}C$의 질소분위기 하에서 각각 20분 불안정화열처리를 행한 후 공냉시켰다. 잔류오스테나이트의 함량은 Xtjs 회절시험을 통해 측정하였으며 회절 peak는 $\alpha$200, $\alpha$220, ${\gamma}$220그리고 ${\gamma}$311을 이용하였다. 화학조성, 불안정화열처리의 온도 및 시간, 그리고 잔류오스테니이트함량강의 관계식을 도출하였다.
