  • Convergence of IT devices and fashion is enabling the industry to take fully different approaches in various areas including product planning, fabric selecting, distributing, and marketing. At the same time, it also transforms the definition of clothing itself. Convergence of IT technologies in the realm of fashion and textiles industries can create a powerful synergy through connection digital devices, such as mobile phone. In this context, this study attempts to suggest how IT technology can be efficiently harnessed through the usage of mobile devices in the planning stage of fashion materials, where the initial production plan of a clothing item is mapped out. This study ultimately aims to enhance the effectiveness of databases on fashion material information by using mobile devices to utilize NFC, an RFID technology having as much revolutionary power as Internet - which can be the convergence between IT and fashion across the software dimensions. To pursue this research, data on fashion material information regarding 200 woven fabric specimens were provided by textile companies. The information includes elements such as its composition, weight, width, yarn, density and sales report. These pieces of information were organized into a database. Drawing on this data, Android-based applications that allow smart phones to read off fabric information from NFC tags were developed for this study using two methods. The system works as follows: 1. NFC tag stickers are attached onto the hangers where 200 fabric samples are hanging. 2. The NFC tag stickers are tagged, or read off from a smart phone that support NFC functions. 3. Upon tagging, the Smart phone swiftly displays all information available on its screen - not only the aforementioned six elements, but also the image of the clothing item from the fabric in its finalized product form, and the video of the model wearing the item - for convenient view. The method harbors immense potential for the fashion industry in general, and will also be useful in those fields inside the industry that harness NFC technology.

  • This study aimed to investigate the differential effects of individual's cultural disposition (individualism-collectivism or horizontal-vertical thinking) and need for cognitive closure(NFC) on framing effects. For this purpose, the participants were divided into 4 different cultural disposition groups based on Singelis et al.'s[1] INDCOL scale, and 2 different NFC groups based on Lee's[2] NFC Scale, and then asked to respond on 5 decision making scenarios. The results can be summarized as followings. First, participants preferred risk-avoidant option in gain frame, whereas risk-seeking option in loss frame. Second, there are no difference of cultural disposition on framing effects, but high NFC group showed larger framing effects than low NFC group in loss frame. Third, collectivism and vertical thinking in high NFC condition showed larger framing effects than low NFC condition.

  • Owing to the recent increased interest in wireless communication technology and rapid technology development, a range of applied technologies utilizing them are being released. In addition, at school, by adopting an attendance management system using wireless communication technology, attempts to solve problems caused by attendance books are being made. Representative attendance management systems include those using RFID, Bluetooth and clicker. Although these systems have solved the problem of wasting paper and time due to calling and writing attendance, they have other problems of generating additional expenses of purchasing or renting more equipment. To solve all of these problems, this paper suggests prototype system that can manage attendance by using NFC (Near Field Communication), which most smartphones provide. The attendance management system using NFC consists of two applications; one for professors and the other for students. The system solves problems, such as proxy attendance, loss of lesson time and additional cost by automatically managing attendance information using NFC and TCP/IP technologies.

  • Recently, NFC technology of short-range wireless communication using a smart phone to perform personal authentication with the electronic payment has been in the spotlight in various fields. However, the security associated with the personal information and the location information is vulnerable because it is easily fused with the existing mobile services and devices. In this paper, we propose a model for NFC payments help protect personal information and location information of NFC payment systems and services in various fields. Proposed model uses tag-based services in order to protect personal information and position information. The proposed model using the tag-based services is the place to check the various features available information in a simple Tag that can be easily accessed.

  • Through the data communication services in the mobile field in the past of a voice call center (SMS, E-Mail, web surfing, etc.), it has evolved as a "service of smartphone-based" life convenience. According to the latest world book publishing market statistics, the while increasing the proportion of e-books, the proportion of this paper are commercially being reduced. Paper this many e-books in the development of, but active communication in this paper By fusing an NFC-based mobile environment that provides a function to complement the disadvantage of electronic books has, it can give to meet the matters required in more diverse applications. Therefore, in this paper, in order to design and implement an NFC-based mobile phonic fairy book application of, and the efficiency and maintenance of the development through a way to save on rather than storing the information of the management target device server We have implemented a NFC-based mobile education phonic fairy book application that takes into account.

  • We propose a low cost attendance checking system using NFC (Near Field Communication) and show a case study of an actual operation of the system in a higher education institute. The system offers a direct attendance check service when a student touches NFC tag on a classroom desk with his/her own smartphone. Our service was first developed and operated in 2012, and then additional functions like massive real time processing were reinforced. In the fall semester, 58 courses use the service and 96% of the class attendance was checked with mobile devices. The only hardware requirement of the system was NFC tag on the classroom desk, which reduced hardware cost dramatically. However, it also minimized attendance checking time into 1 minute regardless of enrolled student number.

  • Annually more than three hundred thousand lost articles are found in Korea. These articles are only being nuisances kept in lost-and-found centers and storing them consumes a considerable amount of costs. In this paper, we developed a mobile application that helps to find lost articles quickly by using NFC which is the next generation short-distance telecommunication technique. We aim to increase NFC utilization that at this time is only used in limited areas such as public transportation card and Smart Wallet. In addition to this, we seek to reduce the cost for keeping annually lost articles as well.

  • With entering into an aged society, more people need to pay attention to their health and disease. In particular, it is significant for senior citizens with chronic disease to have a medication system because it is related directly to their lives. This study suggested the NFC-based medication management system for elderly patents. By developing a NFC-based medication bottle cap and smart phone application program, the suggested method can assist elderly patients to take medicines properly without missing or abusing them through guidance and alarm, and maintain their health.

  • Several costs including printing and management are added in commerce by vouchers. In this case that a voucher is digitalized and flown through mobile phones, these costs are diminished considerably. Also, as mobile commerce is on the increase according to the activation of smart phones, NFC technology with near distance communication is gave attention to. Therefore, researches for using NFC-based electronic vouchers to pay electronically on mobile are made. To analyze the flow path of electronic vouchers, which helps marketing strategy, this paper proposes the method to put useful data into them. The proposed method utilizes object memory model. The proposed electronic voucher includes the block for flow history data in addition to its information. In the future, we will implement and test this electronic voucher.
