  • Voloxidizer for hot cell demonstration that handle spend fuel of high radiation virulence in limited space should become a small size and not scatter in its exit. This study determine optimum velocity of $U_3O_8$ using Newton-Raphson Method. We have conducted fortran programing on the Newton-Raphson Method, obtained a theory results and, predicted optimum velocity on the particle size distribution of $U_3O_8$. We have conducted experimentation using acrylic experimental device for verification of theory method, sampled and analyzed using the particle size analyzer In the results, we have found maximum $5\~7\%$ error rate in the comparative value of theory and experimentation. Optimum velocity and experimental results of $U_3O_8$ for scatter prevention have applied for design of demonstration voloxidizer, and produced operation condition of voloxidizer.

  • In the present research post-buckling of a cut out plate reinforced through carbon nanotubes (CNTs) resting on an elastic foundation is studied. Material characteristics of CNTs are hypothesized to be altered within thickness orientation which are calculated according to Mori-Tanaka model. For modeling the system mathematically, first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is applied and using energy procedure, the governing equations can be derived. With respect to Rayleigh-Ritz procedure as well as Newton-Raphson iterative scheme, the motion equations are solved and therefore, post-buckling behavior of structure will be tracked. Diverse parameters as well as their reactions on post-buckling paths focusing cut out measurement, CNT's volume fraction and agglomeration, dimension of plate and an elastic foundation are investigated. It is revealed that presence of a square cut out can affect negatively post-buckling behavior of structure. Moreover, adding nanocompsits in the matrix leads to enhancement of post-buckling response of system.

  • A combination of Riccati transfer matrix method and finite element method is proposed for obtaining vibration frequencies of structures. This method reduces the propagation of round-off errors produced in the standard transfer matrix method and finds out the values of the frequency by Newton-Raphson method. By this technique, the number of nodes required in the regular finite element method is reduced and therefore a microcomputer may be used. Besides, no plotting of the value of the determinant versus assumed frequency is necessary. As the application of this method, some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy as well as the capability of the proposed method for the vibration of structures.

  • The plastic deformation behavior of additively manufactured anisotropic structures are analyzed using the finite element method (FEM). Hill's quadratic anisotropic yield function is used, and a modified return-mapping method based on dual potential is presented. The plane stress biaxial loading condition is considered to investigate the number of iterations required for the convergence of the Newton-Raphson method during plastic deformation analysis. In this study, incompressible plastic deformation is considered, and the associated flow rule is assumed. The modified return-mapping method is implemented using the ABAQUS UMAT subroutine and effective in reducing the number of iterations in the Newton-Raphson method. The anisotropic tensile behavior is computed using the 3-dimensional FEM for two tensile specimens manufactured along orthogonal additive directions.

  • Recently a new form of the extended Yule-Walker equations for a mixed autoregressive moving-average process of orders p and q has been proposed. It can be used to obtain p+q+1 parameter values from the first p+q+1 autocovariance terms. The autoregressive part of the equations is linear and can be easily solved. In contrast the moving-average part is composed of nonlinear simultaneous equations. Thus some iterative algorithms are necessary to solve them. The iterative algorithm presented by Choi(1986) is very simple but its convergence has not been proved yet. In this paper a Newton-Raphson solution for the moving-average parameters is presented and its convergence is shown. Also numerical example illustrate the performance of the algorithm.

  • A fixed-point iteration is proposed to integrate the stress and state variables in the incremental analysis of plastic deformation. The Conventional Newton-Raphson method requires a second-order derivative of the yield function to generate a complicated code, and the convergence cannot be guaranteed beforehand. The proposed fixed-point iteration does not require a second-order derivative of the yield function, and convergence is ensured for a given strain increment. The fixed-point iteration is easier to implement, and the computational time is shortened compared with the Newton-Raphson method. The plane-stress condition is considered for the biaxial loading conditions to confirm the convergence of the fixed-point iteration. 3-dimensional tensile specimen is considered to compare the computational times in the ABAQUS/explicit finite element analysis.

  • There are many available algorithms based on the different approaches to solve the intersection problems between two curves. Among them, the implicitization method is frequently used since it computes precise solutions fast and is robust in lower degrees. However, once the degrees of curves to be intersected are higher than cubics, its computation time increases rapidly and the numerical stability gets worse. From this observation, it is natural to transform the original problem into a set of easier ones. Therefore, curves are subdivided appropriately depending on their geometric behavior and approximated by a set of rational quadratic Bezier cures. Then, the implicitization method is applied to compute the intersections between approximated ones. Since the solutions of the implicitization method are intersections between approximated curves, a numerical process such as Newton-Raphson iteration should be employed to find true intersection points. As the seeds of numerical process are close to a true solution through the mix-and-match process, the experimental results illustrates that the proposed algorithm is superior to other algorithms.

  • Multivariate Newton Raphson method is developed to perform the particle tracking in the three dimensional area using four objective functions. In this method, three variables are solved to compute target point and actual and real tracking time. The simulated pathlines in various types of three dimensional elements are well matched with exact pathline.
