  • The purpose of this study was to examine how the basic directions proposed in the Dietary Education Support Act were reflected in the dietary section of home economics textbooks for middle schools. The eleven different kinds of the 2007 revised textbooks were considered in the study. It was found that all of the textbooks considered reflected well in general the basic directions in the Dietary Support Act - formation of healthy dietary habits, promotion of dietary activities, practice of green dietary, preservation of traditional dietary, utilization of local food products, etc. in terms of their organization and description. However, it was also revealed that there were great differences among them in their treatment of visual materials like figures, photos, graphs, etc., news articles, and interesting anecdotal stories.

  • The internet becomes a new communication tool in the knowledge and information society and the people are expanded at the place of information interchange and exchange of view. In recent robot education institutions provide their own official homepages to introduce the robot educational resources. But because they have restrictive searching the functions and providing general robot education resources and don't offer a place that teachers can express their thoughts and share common interests with other users, online community among teachers for robot education and users couldn't have built. In this paper, we propose an Online Robot Education Community(OREC) that teachers and users in different robot education institutions can interchange or share their technical information, learn robot techniques, participate in discussion of their experiences on work, share their common interests, and be provided updated latest news in real-time.

  • The current study aims to investigate the relationship between tax avoidance and firm risk in an emerging market called Iran. The study population consists of 400 observations and 80 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) over a five-year period during 2012 and 2016. The statistical model used in this study is a multivariate regression model; besides, the statistical technique used to test the hypotheses proposed in this research is panel data. The results showed that low effective tax rate (tax avoidance) is more consistent than the higher effective tax rate. Moreover, there is no significant relationship between tax avoidance and future tax rate volatility. The findings also proved that lower effective tax rates are positively associated with future stock price volatility. This implies that since Iranian firms have many financial problems because of economic sanctions, they have a tendency to delay the disclosure of bad news about their firms. Needless to say, when a huge number of negative news reaches its peak, they immediately will enter the market and lead to a remarkable fluctuation in stock prices.

  • Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG)-based Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) on glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. Methods: This study was designed to compare changes in glycemic control over 12months in SMBG-based DSME group (n=65) versus control group (n=65). Data were obtained from medical records type 2 diabetic patients treated with oral antidiabetic agents and above HbA1c 7.0% from June 2006 to August 2008. All participants completed DSME defined as informational intervention of lifestyle habits and reinforcement of educational Monthly News letter delivered by the diabetes nurse educator. SMBG-based DSME group requested to measure blood glucose 7 times a day for a week and to record their diary and received counseling with a focus on diet and lifestyle during the education. Assessments were conducted baseline, 3, 6 and 12 months. HbA1c was used as an index of glycemic control. Results: 12 months later, the level of HbA1c was reduced by $1.28{\pm}1.68%$ in experimental group and $0.49{\pm}1.05%$ in the control group. We found a significant effect of $Time^*$ Group interaction (p=.013). Conclusion: SMBG-based DSME for patients with type 2 diabetes with oral antidiabetic agents was effective in improving glycemic control and maintaining long-term glycemic control.

  • Background: The main purpose of this study was to survey the education and training of certified gynecologic oncologists and fellows in Thailand. A secondary objective was to study the problems in fellowship training regarding palliative care for gynecologic cancer patients. Materials and Methods: A descriptive study was conducted by sending a questionnaire regarding palliative care education to all certified gynecologic oncologists and gynecologic oncology fellows in Thailand. The contents of the survey included fellowship training experience, caring for the dying, patient preparation, attitudes and respondent characteristics. Statistics were analyzed by percentage, mean and standard deviation and chi-square. Results: One hundred seventy completed questionnaires were returned; the response rate was 66%. Most certified gynecologic oncologists and fellows in gynecologic oncology have a positive attitude towards palliative care education, and agree that "psychological distress can result in severe physical suffering". It was found that the curriculum of gynecologic oncology fellowship training equally emphasizes three aspects, namely managing post-operative complications, managing a patient at the end of life and managing a patient with gynecologic oncology. As for experiential training during the fellowship of gynecologic oncology, education regarding breaking bad news, discussion about goals of care and procedures for symptoms control were mostly on-the-job training without explicit teaching. In addition, only 42.9 % of respondents were explicitly taught the coping skill for managing their own stress when caring for palliative patients during fellowship training. Most of respondents rated their clinical competency for palliative care in the "moderately well prepared" level, and the lowest score of the competency was the issue of spiritual care. Conclusions: Almost all certified gynecologic oncologists and fellows in gynecologic oncology have a positive attitude towards learning and teaching in palliative care. In this study, some issues were identified for improving palliative care education such as proper training under the supervision of a mentor, teaching how to deal with work stress, competency in spiritual care and attitudes on responsibility for bereavement care.

The number of classes has decreased, and some schools are closed or incorporated due to decrease of the population. Such phenomenon has brought changes to learning using digital technology and space. A change called digital innovation is characterized by interactive communication centering on the internet network. Therefore, it is very important to predict educational environment to be changed according to digital environment and to note how real learning space is changed. The development of digital technology in society in general presents two concepts of digital and contents, digitalized information. Such technology is recognized as a new paradigm in education sector and a new space is created through participation of instructors and learners in learning space. This study analysed cases of learning space of elementary schools based on bibliographical examination and related bibliography including data from academic presentations and news release to present developed leaning space. To present healthy and creative learning environment which can lead knowledge and information-based society in the future, the preface described the background, purpose, methods and range of the study, and analysed transitional processes of society and culture, digital learning contents, and learning space in education of elementary schools. Finally the study identified trends and cases of research on learning space and suggested digital learning contents space.

  • Food handling practices playa key role in the prevalence of food-borne illness. Despite the fact that pregnant women are high risk groups for food-borne disease, little is known about their actual food handling practices at home. The objective of this study was to investigate behaviors regarding food-related hygienic practices of pregnant women. The questionnaire included questions in five major areas : personal hygiene ; adequate cooking ; avoiding cross contamination ; keeping food at safe temperatures ; and avoiding food from unsafe sources. Analysis of 488 questionnaires showed the respondents were unaware of the importance of safe food handling practices. Especially, pregnant women in our study should be encouraged to be careful about either risk of adequate cooking $(2.08\pm0.66)$ and keeping foods at safe temperatures $(2.69\pm0.63)$. Residency and number of children were consistent independent predictors of food handling behaviors. Previous food safety education also was found to have significant effect on food handling practices. TV news and newspapers were considered the most usable sources of food safety information by respondents. The behaviors identified in this study represent ones of particular importance for high-risk populations, like pregnant women. These population characteristics identified in this study could be incorporated in development of food safety educational programs for pregnant women being vulnerable on food-borne illness. Our results could have implications for the design of effective food safety educational efforts. This study indicates the need for continued and improved food safety education and for enforcing systematic food safety education for pregnant women.
