  • The present study summarized the occurrence, distribution and autecology about 31 taxa of the green algae (Chlorophytes) collected from several swamps, reservoir and highland wet-lands in the South Korea from 2010 to 2013. This paper deals with a total 31 taxa including of 26 genera which are recorded for the first time in Korea. Among these algae, 18 genera including Pyrobotrys Arnoldi, Volvulina Playfair, Dicellula Svirenko, Echinocoleum Jao & Lee, Hofmania Chodat, Gloeotila Kutzing, Tetrachlorella Korschikov, Botryospherella P.C.Silva etc., were newly recorded in Korean fresh-water algal flora.

  • The disappearance of continuous yielding and the formation of an extended region in engineering stress-strain curves at tempering temperatures of 673-873K is closely related to the reduction of mobile dislocations during tempering and dynamic recovery during tensile deformation. In addition, the occurrence of discontinuous yielding at tempering temperature above 923K would be attributed to the formation of new strain-free polygonal ferrite grain.

  • Recently due to repeatedly occurrence of flood, a lot of Chinese cities accept new design criteria for their protective project Most of them calculated by a certain type of probability distribution. In order to meet the demand of development economy the return period of design criteria is changed more longer and longer even 1000years, but the data which the calculation dependent on is only about 30-40 years. • Lineacgrams are diagnostic films taken using X-ray from the linear accelerator with the patient in the treatment position to assure that the treatment is being delivered in accordance with the treatment prescription. But the image quality of the lineacgram is so bad because of the high X-ray energy. This paper presents a new algorithm that enhances the image of lineacgram. Thls algorithm calculates optimal threshold value which is used for segmentation of lineacgram using co-occurrence matrix and enhances the image Inside and outside treatment area preserving treatments boundary.

  • Let $A_1,A_2,\cdots,A_m$ and $B_1,B_2,\cdots,B_n$ be two sequences of events on a given probability space. Let $X_m$ and $Y_n$, respectively, be the number of those $A_i$ and $B_j$, which occur we establish new upper and lower bounds on the probability $P(X=r, Y=t)$ which improve upper bounds and classical lower bounds in terms of the bivariate binomial moment $S_{r,t},S_{r+1,t},S_{r,t+1}$ and $S_{r+1,t+1}$.

  • A recent rise in mean global temperatures suggests a shift in the temporal cycles of natural seasons. The impacts of warming trends can alter the temporal and spatial distribution of flora and fauna. Especially, phenological cycles are very sensitive to the occurrence of alternation of hot and cold seasons. Phenological calendars reflect the natural seasonality. In more detail, phenological cycles affects agriculture and human health (i.e. the amount of fruit production and allergies), as well as tourism industries like flower fairs or festivals. (omitted)

  • Although the picture quality of today's displays is very good already, a continuous improvement is desirable as the new larger display sizes increase the visibility of artifacts. A contributing factor for picture quality enhancement through smart video processing and algorithm design is the information gathered from video statistics. Interesting parameters gathered from video statistics are e.g. the image- and display load, the usage of the color gamut, the estimated power consumption and the occurrence of static image parts. Examples of applications that can benefit from video statistics are power calculations, color gamut mapping algorithms, dynamic backlight control for LCD panels and LED backlights for LCD panels.

  • Tunicates were collected from three harbors (Gampo, Bangeojin, Daebyeon) in Gyeongsangnam-do and one harbor (Seogwipo) in Jejudo Island during the period from August 2008 to January 2011 and were identified on the basis of their morphological characteristics. Among them, colonial tunicate Clavelina lepadiformis (Muller, 1776) belonging to the family Clavelinidae was found to be an invasive alien species introduced from the North Atlantic, and this is the first record of its occurrence in Korea.

  • The effect of tempering temperatures on microstructures and mechanical properties was studied in a low carbon steel. The disappearance of continuous yielding and the formation of an extended region in engineering stress-strain curves at tempering temperatures ranging from 673 to 873K was caused by the reduction of mobile dislocations during tempering and dynamic recovery during tensile deformation. In addition, the occurrence of discontinuous yielding in the sample treated at the tempering temperatures above 923K was attributed to the formation of new strain-free polygonal ferrite grain.
