  • LG Electronics developed a perfect flat color display tube which was named "FLATRON" . This tube provides ergonomic performances with perfectly flat face and innovative manufacturing process. Foil transfer is a new technology for manufacturing screen layer for Flatron. Its main features include several properties of film, releasing agent, adhesive, aluminum layer, holes after bake-out and foil transfer process.   • Copper has been used as an interconnect material in the fabrication of semiconductor devices, because of its higher electrical conductivity and superior electro-migration resistance. Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) technique is required to planarize the overburden Cu film in an interconnect process. Various problems such as dishing, erosion, and delamination are caused by the high pressure and chemical effects in the Cu CMP process. But these problems have to be solved for the fabrication of the next generation semiconductor devices. Therefore, new process which is electro-chemical mechanical planarization/polishing (ECMP) or electro-chemical mechanical planarization was introduced to solve the. technical difficulties and problems in CMP process. In the ECMP process, Cu ions are dissolved electrochemically by the applying an anodic potential energy on the Cu surface in an electrolyte. And then, Cu complex layer are mechanically removed by the mechanical effects between pad and abrasive. This paper focuses on the manufacturing of ECMP system and its process. ECMP equipment which has better performance and stability was manufactured for the planarization process.

  • Recently, metal additive manufacturing (AM) is being investigated as a new manufacturing technology. In metal AM, powder bed fusion (PBF) is a promising technology that can be used to manufacture small and complex metallic components by selectively fusing each powder layer using an energy source such as laser or an electron beam. PBF includes selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM). SLM uses high power-density laser to melt and fuse metal powders. EBM is similar to SLM but melts metals using an electron beam. When these processes are applied, the mechanical properties and microstructures change due to the many parameters involved. Therefore, this study is conducted to investigate the effects of the parameters on the mechanical properties and microstructures such that the processes can be performed more economically and efficiently.

  • Recent manufacturing system requires development on new production technology to enable prompt manufacturing of diverse products. Most of the researchers have been working on micro-factory. Especially, focus on manufacturing of micro parts. Present manufacturing system consumes excessive resources in the form of energy and space to manufacture the micro parts. In this study, the micro lens module assembly system was modeled, analyzed with MST(Micro System Technology) Application Module and simulated through UML Language (Unified Modeling Language) with object-oriented logical model analysis method. Digital model of micro-factory was modeled, to execute the new paradigm of digitalization on products, resources and processes of micro-factory.

  • Flexibility, in the context of manufacturing, refers to an ability to accommodate changes in market requirements in terms of product, process, and other services in a timely manner at a reasonable cost. The basic purpose of this paper is to analyze manufacturing strategies of leading Korean manufacturers in order to answer the following questions : How important are manufacturing flexibilities to Korean companies in restoring their once competitive cost-based strategies and adopting new variety-based strategies\ulcorner How effectively are Korean companies competing with their foreign competitors, like the US and European companies in terms of manufacturing flexibilities\ulcorner And in order to improve the flexibilities what kinds of manufacturing capabilities are considered as important key factors by Korean manufacturers and are their action programs effectively implemented to acquire these capabilities\ulcorner Major findings of the analysis indicate that Korean companies are very eager to reorganize their high-volume, cost-based corporate strategies as low volume, variety-based strategies. However, Korean manufacturers are still much dependent on the large size high volume factories and / or 'focus factories'. And the action programs and technologies to improve manufacturing flexibilities have been actively implemented at a higher rate than those of their foreign counterparts.

Optimum Manufacturing Processes of Micro-drill (마이크로 드릴의 최적 생산설계)

  • Resently, reduction of industrial products in size and weight has increased by the application of micro-drill for gadgets of high precision and gave rise to a great interest in a micro-drilling. Due to the lack of tool stiffness and the chip packing, micro-drilling requires not only the robust tool structure which has not affected by the vibration, but also the effective drilling methods designed to prevent tool fracture from cutting troubles. Firstly, this paper presents a new manufacturing process of micro-drill for improving the product rate and an optimum shape of micro-drill for lengthening the tool life, and secondly suggests between tool life and drilling torque acquired in the inprocess monitoring system.

  • The conversion processes from traditional job shops to cellular manufacturing systems can be viewed as an aggregation of cause-and-effect relationships among many strategic, managerial, and technical variables. Therefore, management needs to fully understand these interacting variables and possible relationships between the variables to successfully convert their plants to cellular manufacturing systems. The purpose of this study is to assist such management's needs in part. The objectives of this research are i) investigating contingency variables that may affect the conversion processes and outcomes to cellular manufacturing systems and ii) examining relationships between the variables and the conversion processes and outcomes. In this paper, particularly three categories of variables are examined: product, process routing, and process technology / facilities characteristics. Literature review and the mail survey method are used. The results are compared and synthesized with the findings of previous studies for useful discussions. Some previous arguments and propositions are empirically supported.

  • This paper presents an overview of worldwide electric power development and National $700^{\circ}C$ Hyper Supercritical coal-fired power generation(HSC) focus on materials and manufacturing process. To Increase the efficiency of electric power generation, It is necessary to increase steam temperature and pressure. In that case, New material and manufacturing process shall be developed for boiler and turbine component in high temperature and pressure operating condition. Therefore, Much Efforts in worldwide are progressing to develop materials and manufacturing technology and to build and operate an HSC.

  • Dieless CNC forming is an innovative technology which can form various materials with complex shape by numerically controlled incremental forming process. In order to apply the technology to industrial parts, however, many problems such as spring-back, rising of material, and trimming difficulty must be solved. In this paper a new dieless CNC forming method to improve forming quality is proposed, which consists of how to modify its original shape in CAD and how to generate its CNC tool path in CAM. The effectiveness of the proposed procedures is tested with a brake dust shield of a vehicle. The results shows that the method proposed enhances the forming quality up to 48% compared to traditional method.
