  • The digital modeling process is visualization of designer's specific intension in digital virtual space by constructing computer and information system that fits the designer's intension and morphological characteristic of the space that to be modeled. Digital Modeling Process has been brought to attention for it's design efficiency and potentialities as new creative tool. The effect of DMP, in spacial design process has been grown from simply providing a ways to visualize designer's idea toward utilizing modeling data for real construction which includes architectural and constructional material. The purpose of this study is to find optimal methodological answers to spatial design process that is improved and specialized due to rapid improvement of digital media.

유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 축류 송풍기 설계최적화 (Design Optimization of Axial Flow Fan Using Genetic Algorithm)

  • In an attempt to solve multiobjective optimization problems, weighted sum method is most widely used for the advantage that a designer can consider the relative significance of each object functions by weight values but it can be highly sensitive to weight vector and occasionally yield a deviated optimum from the relative weighting values designer designated because the multiobjective function has the form of simple sum of the product of the weighting values and the object functions in traditional approach. To search the design solution agree well to the designer's weighting values, we proposed new multiobjective function which was the functional of each normalized objective functions and considered to find the design solution comparing the distance between the characteristic line and the ideal optimum. In this study, proposed multiobjective function was applied to design high efficiency and low noise axial flow fan and the result shows this approach is effective for the case that the quality of the design can be highly affected by the designer's subjectiveness represented as weighting values in multiobjective design optimization process.

  • This study was intended to probe the scheme for correctly making Korean fashion design known to the world. It is because its suggestion could find out in the current influence of Japanese designer works led to fashion in Europe and the U.S. It can be said that this success was attributed to Japanese high economic growth, increased interests in fashion, increased awareness of the fashion industry, production of designers activity in the world area, systematic and active support of the fashion circles and government for the fashion industry and so on. Korean government has recently begun to attempt to nurture Koreanism or Korean look as world-class fashion. But there are a considerable number of obstacles in making Koreanism or Korean look known to the world due to such several factors as the lack of interests in fashion, the lack of globally active designers, and the like. It is necessary to nurture the fashion industry and educate and train designers for the long-term perspective. In addition, both the government and the fashion circles need to provide for more active and reasonable policy for holding the Korean Fashion Fair, expanding the Seoul Collection to the more global level, opening the way for new designers, and so forth. Furthermore, our academic circles need to make much research on the scheme for the glottalization of Koreanism or Korean look.

  • The Israel-born Ron Arad is one of Britain's "superstar" designers, an it has been said that he is Britain's answer to Philippe Starck. Arad is a highly individualistic designer whose ideas stem from a mental process that has more in common with that of the fine artist than of the jobbing designer for industry. His imagination expresses itself in the form of things. By the early 1990s he had become internationally recognized for his "ready-made" work. His furniture and lighting designs required extremely costly labour-intensive techniques to produce. As his work was highly evocative, suggesting a post-industrial world in which the urban landscape was characterized by materials in a state of decay. More recently, through collaborations with Italian and German manufactures, his work has reached a new level of sophistication and finish, which differentiates it from the earlier designs. As Arad reputation as a designer of workshop-based furniture came to an end and the era of "democratic" Arad furniture came into being. By middle of the decade he had become one of the most-discussed designers of the day. The spirituality that emanates from all his work is a product of his particular vision of the creative process, far removed from the typical, stereotyped trends in the sphere of modern industrialization. He goes one step further in his work by attempting to restore aesthetic dignity to the objects of daily life, in a search for beauty within the immediate environment.hin the immediate environment.

  • 초창기 국내 온라인기반 게임은 일부 장르에 집중한 수익중심의 게임개발에 집중해왔다. 하지만 현재는 스마트 환경, 소셜네트워크 중심의 다양한 콘텐츠의 확장과 더불어 게임 역시 더 다양한 대상을 위한 게임 소재가 개발되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 다양한 대상에 기반한 게임 접근 측면에서 게임디자이너 관점의 포지티브(Positive)게임이란 새로운 범주를 조명해 보고자 한다. 그리고 포지티브 게임 개발의 선행단계에 해당하는 디자인 접근에 대하여 디자이너 관점에서 재미기반 범주의 게임접근 프로세스를 구성해 보았다. 디자이너 관점에서의 게임 범주 체계성과 그에 따른 디자인 접근은 유-무선기반 환경, 융합미디어 기반의 새로운 환경에서 게임이 중심적인 인터렉티브 콘텐츠로서 확장하기 위해 필요한 연구이다.

영조초년(英祖初年)의 전주읍성(全州邑城) 개축공사(改築工事)에 관한 재고찰(再考察) (A Review on the Reconstruction of Jeonju Eupsung during the early years of King Young-Joe)

  • Through reinvestigations of early years of King Young-Joe provincial castles, Jeonju Eupsung, this study seeks to broaden the understanding of castle construction of the later period of Chosun Dynasty. Jeonju Eupsung was established by reform-minded king and his loyalist Cho, Hyun Myung. Their new conceptual framework for reconstruction of Jeonju Eupsung was affected by Yoo, Hyung Won, a realist scholar of 17th century. It is obvious that adopted new administrative systems of financing, building and maintaining of Jeonju Eupsung were based on the his theories of castle. This study demonstrates that Jeonju Eupsung built by Cho, Hyun Myung, during the early years of King Young-Joe were based on those new concepts and systems of the new age. The study shows that the designer of this castle had in mind efficient construction design and execution and effective defense of provincial towns located on flat ground. And, the study explains how those original designer sought higher productivity through greater localization of securing resources and more detailed and improved organization of construction responsibilities. In short, this study seeks to prove that the provincial castles of the early 18th century reflected the new thinking on practicality that was spreading throughout the society of Chosun Dynasty at the time.

존 갈리아노(John Galliano)의 디자인 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Designs of John Galliano)

  • The purpose of this study is for consideration of John Galliano's fashion design works. Galliano, young British designer, became the chief designer of Givenchy in 1995 and of Christian Dior in 1996. Through fashion information from WWD, High Fashion, Mode et Mode, Collezioni, Vogue, Internet sites and video tapes from 1995 to 1999, his works were concerned for this study. The results are as followed; First, we can find dynamics in Galliano's works. The dynamic mood came from his study about historic costume. Second, new beauty from dismantling and reconstruction was expressed on his designs. Third, his experimental creativities were based on fashion business. Therefore Galliano's eccentricity signify the Maximalism against the Minimalism which dominated the end of 20th century. So we can find a clue to new millenium in fashion world in his designs.

  • The purpose of the present paper are not to develope machine tools of new concepts and advanced mechanisms but to introduce and apply new methods and concepts in the design procedure by using and changing the previously existing technologies. In this paper 3D modeller was proposed for designing machine tools and the design and the better manufacturability checking than 2D one so that design error was dramatically reduced. As designer may easily understand the real shape of a part and assembly object, it's easy to draw the drawings not only in a conceptual design but also in a detailed design. Also, design automation software enabled designer to consider the real important design parameters by reducing time to spend in estimating and calculating the strength of the model by the computer aided automatic calculation instead of a tedious and complex calculation by manual method and help him to easily make the decision for selecting the stocks and design the structure of part or unit of machine tools.

  • It's difficult for manufacturers to derive a new design from the demands of consumers as quickly as possible and a designer carries out design operation using insufficient resources in initial design. To carry out initial design process efficiently for an excavator front group, it is necessary for a designer to manage lots of parameter with an existing knowledge or with in-house know-how and develop function module that calculates working range and excavator force. By doing so, it will bring up the optimized values of parameters based on the DOE in the early design stage. In this paper, a new approach to improve the process with optimized parameters is proposed to reduce a product development time of the excavator front design.
