디자인 중심 신제품 개발 전략의 성공 요인에 관한 연구 - 초콜릿 폰 개발 사례를 중심으로 -

  • The function of product design has been an important part for success on new product development We deeply studied 'Chocolate-Phone' case which is considered as a representative of adopting design-oriented new product development strategy. According to this study, we found three contextual factors and nine key success factors for design-oriented new product development. The contextual factors consist of the strong needs for innovative product development, customer's needs for the emotional value, competitive situation for the new product launching. The key success factors consist of design, development marketing, overall sides. The key success factors of design side are to select talented designers and take an insight for market and communication skill. The key success factors of development side are to possess high technological abilities, to do divergence with removing or giving up some function management's strong support. The key success factors of marketing side are to bring core marketers from outside, capacity to gather ideas from outside. The key success factors of overall side are to share design-oriented principle with other parts and to change member's mind from engineer-oriented to market-oriented.

  • 최근 차량용 Navigation은 우리나라에서 급속도로 발전하는 Emerging Market으로 실시간 교통정보와 DMB TV, 영화, 음악, 게임 등 다양한 복합기능을 추가하면서 Car Infotainment(Information & Entertainment) 핵심 기기로 진화해가고 있다. 반면 시장진입에 따른 기술 장벽이 낮고 경쟁이 치열한 상황에서 제품디자인 차별화가 중요한 요소로 부각되고 있다. 이에 본 사례연구에서는 A/V 전문기업 인켈이 $\ulcorner$와이드터치(WideTouch)$\lrcorner$라는 신규 브랜드로 차량용 Navigation 시장에 진출한 사례를 중심으로 선행 수요자 니즈 조사를 통한 Concept 발굴과 신세대 및 중 장년층, 여성 Targe시장 세분화에 의한 디자인 차별화 전략 및 그 성공 요인을 분석하였다.

우리나라 유통산업의 산업조직의 변화와 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of Industrial Organizatioal Changes and Effects in Retail Businesses in Korea)

  • New retailers, especially giant retailers, so called "mart" or "discounter" which introduced around 1996, when Korea's domestic retail market was opened to the world, have brought big transitions. Consequently, new comers like discounters and CVS drove out department stores, mom & pops and traditional retailers. Literatures showed two reverse opinions for the giant retailers; rising consumers' benefit, or dropping small retailers' businesses. This study have conducted to find the situation of market concentration in retail market, and to learn the new market condition in it. According to the study, in 2005, CR3's of Korea's whole retail industry was counted 12.8%, and CR5 of that was 13.9%. CR3 of discount store business was 39%, department stores' 55%, and TV home shopping businesses' was 75%. In addition to those results, indices growing worse. So, we can say this industry already get into the oligopolistic industrial organization. Generally, under monopolistic or oligopolistic market structure, consumers' benefit may shrink and businesses' surplus profit may jump. So, it means, it's good time to turn government's policy for the retail industry in Korea to fair competition policy instead of development policy.

  • 빙그레는 국내 최초로 떠먹는 요구르트인 요플레를 출시한 후 지금까지 요구르트시장에서 요플레의 막강한 브랜드 파워와 함께 확고한 시장지위를 차지하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 더욱 치열해지고 있는 요구르트시장의 경쟁 속에서 빙그레가 시장선도자(떠먹는 요구르트시장)로서 또한 시장후발주자(드링킹 요구르트시장)로서 어떻게 시장을 개척하고 대응해왔는지를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 빙그레 요플레는 기존의 경쟁논리에 얽매이지 않고 새로운 가치를 제공하면서 시장의 경쟁패러다임을 변화시키기 위해 시장을 선도하는 차별적인 신제품 마케팅전략을 실시하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로도 빙그레 요플레는 장기적으로 요플레의 브랜드 자산을 관리하기 위한 보다 정교한 마케팅전략적 관리와 함께 시장을 이끌어가기 위한 지속적인 마케팅 노력이 병행되어야 할 것이다.

Current status on applications of conventional breeding techniques and biotechnological system in ornamentals

  • Flower industry is now growing due to the development of economy in many countries. Simultaneously, needs from consumers in flower market are varied widely. To satisfy the needs from consumers and deal with a variety of diseases from a lots of pathogens as well as climate change, new elite flower cultivars should be released in flower market. For this purpose, conventional and biotechnological techniques can be employed to make good cultivar. Therefore, this review describes the general overview of flower breeding techniques including cross-hybridization, mutation breeding and genetic transformation systems. Also, breeding systems for ornamentals derived from plant tissue culture such as embryo culture, in vitro fertilization, ovary/ovule culture and haploid production were reviewed. Furthermore, in this study recent development of the generation of new flower cultivars using marker-assisted breeding, plant transformation including particle bombardment and Agrobacterium tumefaciens as well as genome-editing technology were described. This review will be contributed to the development and releasement of new flower cultivars with horticulturally useful traits in the future.

블루오션 신제품개발 전략에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Blue Ocean New Product Development Strategy)

  • Recently, Kim and Mauborgne [40] has introduced the concept of blue ocean strategy that provides quantum leap in value innovation, thus creating new market space. This study, based on the blue ocean strategy concept, suggests blue ocean new product development strategy (BONPDS), and attempts to examine how much this BONPDS has impact on new product peformance, compared to existing new Product development strategy Perspectives (i.e., competitive strategy-based new product development strategy and resource-based new product development strategy) in an empirical way. The research result shows that the BONPDS has greater impact on new product performance than existing new product development strategies. In addition, it is revealed that such contingency variables as firm size and environmental dynamism have moderating effect on the relationship between the BONPDS and new product performance. The BONPDS is more effective in the small-sized firms than the large-sized ones, and its effect on new product performance is different according to environmental dynamism.

UK Social Housing and Housing Market in England: A Statistical Review and Trends

  • Around 80% of the 63 million people in the UK live in urban areas where demand for affordable housing is highest. Supply of new dwellings is a long way short of demand and with an average annual replacement rate of 0.5% more than 80% of the existing residential housing stock will still be in use by 2050. A high proportion of owner-occupiers, a weak private rental sector and lack of sustainable financing models render England's housing market one of the least responsive in the developed world. As an exploratory research the purpose of this paper is to examine the provision of social housing in the United Kingdom with a particular focus on England, and to set out implications for housing associations delivering sustainable community development. The paper is based on an analysis of historical data series (Census data), current macro-economic data and population projections to 2033. The paper identifies a chronic undersupply of affordable housing in England which is likely to be exacerbated by demographic development, changes in household composition and reduced availability of finance to develop new homes. Based on the housing market trends analysed in this paper opportunities are identified for policy makers to remove barriers to the delivery of new affordable homes and for social housing providers to evolve their business models by taking a wider role in sustainable community development.

Designs for Development of Bra Tops for the New Senior Generation

  • Due to recent changes in increased life expectancy, economic power and social development, the new senior generation (focusing on people in their fifties) represents a new market power with strong competitiveness. The new senior generation is the generation after the baby boomers, with characteristics that include a high-level of education, increased income, a high-level of consumption, increased assets, self-fulfillment desires and individuality. Demands in the senior fashion industry are expected to gradually increase and the underwear industry that targets the new senior generation is expected to grow rapidly. These demands will require product development for the new senior generation based on emotional and socio-cultural characteristics. The current new senior underwear market is under the process of R&D with a focus on body shape changes; however, there are limited studies on emotional and socio-cultural approaches. This study formulates a basic design plan for different age groups based on an analysis of the situation of bra wear (current inconveniences, demand and needs) by women in their fifties and over. Subsequently, a functional active bra top that considers activity and comfort was proposed for women in their fifties, an all-in-one foundation bra top that shapes the body was proposed for women in their sixties, and comfort bra tops that are comfortable and easy to put on and take off were proposed for women in their seventies and over.

유도계획과 QM 도구들을 활용한 신제품 개발과정의 혁신 전략 (Innovation Strategy For New Product Development Process by Indicative Planning & QM Tools)

  • The new businesses started by the companies usually results in being unsuccessful. The main reasons for that are either aiming targeting wrong customers, unsatisfaction of customers' requesting quality standards, or taking wrong actions against the competitors in the market. Therefore, companies should aim the targets for the newly developing products based on the fulfilling values for the customers when they start the new businesses, and should take good cares for risk managements at the each step of the new business to prevent the failure in advance. In addition to that, the companies starting new businesses not only need to take the customers attributes (CA) into account, but they also should apply the new technologies as one system to initiate a new business to satisfy the basic wants of the customers. This article suggests the New Product Development Pursuing Model using the Indicative Planning methodology and the Quality Management tools. The New Product Development Pursuing Model would be completed by the following steps as below; 1. Drawing the CTQ (Critical To Quality) for setting up the new product development objectives by : i) using the VOC (Voice Of Customers) obtained by the QFD (Quality Function Deploypment) if the market is mature, ii) applying AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to information in the QIS (Quality Information System) if the market is unmature to get enough need information of the customers. 2. Risk Management in NPD : The NPD pursuing model consisted of the IP (indicative planning) is suggested not by the process of top-down-way mandatory planning process, but by the tools used in the administrative science and economic fields, namely by governance. The companies could apply innovative methodology for new products development processes to fulfil the customers satisfaction in the fields, through the CA (Contingency Approach) of the NPD (New Product Development) process.

A Study on Information Required for the Development of New Textile Materials of Korean Textile Industry

  • The Korean textile industry the driving force of Korea's economic development, is faced with difficulties due to domestic and foreign influences. The purpose of this paper is to examine what measures are necessary for overcoming such difficulties. As the first step, We conducted a month-long survey, in August 2003, of 157 small-medium firms operating in the Korean textile industry to collect information about difficulties that they face in carrying out their business. According to the result, small firms performed badly in sales and facility investment efforts for 2003 due to worldwide economic depression. They, however, actively pursued new technology development in order to improve their competitiveness. Profits and productivity decreased with reduced sales, and their view on the next year’s perspective is also very unfavorable. Especially many firms intend to maintain or even lower the level of sales goal for 2004, reflecting the sluggish market environment. According to the survey, under such circumstances, as many as 74% of firms wanted to turn the tables through the development of highly sensuous material and improved marketing efforts. One of potential answers to this problem, which is suggested by the survey, is to establish a consulting service institution to provide promptly marketing data and information on textile and fashion market and trend in Italy. Especially, firms surveyed have shown a great deal of interest in Italian consulting service for new textile material developments. While they want the service for high value-added product development, they are reluctant to do so because of the uncertainty of its future effects and high consulting fees.
