Selecting Strategic Energy Technology R&D Programs Applied to the AHP Approach as Planning a Big-sized Energy R&D Program (대형과제 기획시 계층분석적 의사결정기법을 적용한 전략적 에너지기술 R&D 프로그램 선정)

  • The R&D budget of energy technology development has increased in the sector of korean energy technology development continuously. In addition to that, KIER, the government invested research institute and unique energy technology R&D research institute, is trying to plan for a big-sized energy R&D program for the well focused R&D and excellent research outcomes. In the phase of R&D process, the planning is one of the most important sectors because it drives the direction of R&D. In this study, we suggest the assessment criteria to select a strategic energy technology R&D programs by the analytic hierarchy process, which is one of multi-criteria decision making method (MCDM)We structure 2 tiers of hierarchy for assessing a big-sized R&D program and also establish 6 criteria in the level 1, which are energy environment, economic spin-off, technical spin-off, marketability, KIER mission, and cost. We allocate the relative weights of criteria by checking the values of consistency ratio as making pairwise comparisons. The result of this research will provide the decision makers as they select a right well focused R&D program.

  • Many countries over the world have taken many discussions and endeavors on environmental improvements of energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions for solving global climate change problems. In Korea, pre-considerations of environment-conscious factors in buildings have been taken to be critical with new constructions and renovation markets. In this situation, the Korean Green Building Certification(KGBC) system to induce the diffusion of sustainable buildings was introduced in 2002 and developed as an improved version of the G-SEED(Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design) system in 2013 after major revisions. This research examines the importance of assessment criteria on apartment buildings to certify green buildings using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and suggests a new direction on certification assessment standards from the AHP result. In order to apply the AHP method, the survey via e-mail was conducted to design staffs in domestic architectural firms. As a result, assessment criteria such as ecological environment, indoor environment, and energy & environment pollution among 7 main ones proved to be important on assessing the G-SEED system for apartment buildings, while criteria such as land use & transportation, material & resource, water circulation management, maintenance management did relatively unimportant.

  • The mount type HVAC control system is a type of an HVAC control system which is installed between a ceiling and ceiling boards of a room to control room temperature. Although the device is quite popular, design is conducted by a conventional way where engineering intuition and experiences are utilized. It is found that the design process is fairly inefficient and time-consuming because there are a lot of feedbacks. The axiomatic approach is used to investigate the design characteristics of the mount type HAVC control system and the Independence Axiom is utilized for the investigation. The Overall hierarchy is established up to the level of parts. It is found that the current design has many coupled and redundant aspects. The hierarchy is reorganized based on the Independence Axiom and a new design process is found. To exploit the new design process in practice, a design manual is made.

  • Over the world, social demands and concerns of energy and resource depletions and environmental conservation have resulted in many researches and applications on sustainable development and construction. In order to support these demands and concerns, international green building certification systems such as LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) were developed. In Korea, the green building certification system was introduced in 2000 and widely applied to all types of new buildings in order to induce the diffusion of sustainable buildings on May, 2010. This paper investigates the importance of assessment criteria on multi-unit apartment projects among certification rating systems using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and suggests a new direction on certification assessment standards. For applying the AHP method, the survey of staffs in green building certification consulting companies and architectural design companies was conducted via e-mail. As a result, criteria like energy, indoor environment, land use, pollution control, and ecological environment among 9 main ones turned out important on assessing green building certification at multi-unit apartment projects, while criteria like water resource, transportation, maintenance management, and material and resource did relatively unimportant.

  • For measuring a traffic symbolic confusion Quantity and symbolic air pleasantness, we use fuzzy sensor algorithm maded by symbolic information Quantity. Hut for implementation of fuzzy sensor, we use some symbolic information item, this method cannot produce precise output because we use vague fuzzy rule method and we cannot abundance fuzzy for precision of fuzzy rule method. For this reason, this paper introduce new fuzzy sensor algorithm composed of not fuzzy rule method but using Analytic Hierachy Process. To prove that new method is good, two type of fuzzy sensor applied to traffic signal controller and through much passing vehicle, two fuzzy sensor compared each other.

  • In this study, 100 types of computationally proposed digital games were analyzed based on the expected marketability. The game classification methodology with five classification criteria proposed by Kim (2017) and the elimination method leveraged by the Decision Tree have been adopted as the methodology of the study. As a result, digital games could be classified into three groups. With the result, designers in the field will be able to leverage computational design methodology to develop a new type of digital game more efficiently by following the proposed hierarchy.

  • Simulation-Based Expert System(SIMBES) is a very effective tool to solve complex antral hard problems. The SIMBES model includes a simulator, a feature extractor, a machine learning system, a performance evaluator, and a Knowledge-Based Expert System(KBES). Since SIMBES depends on Problem domains, a schedule-based material requirements planning problem, which is NP-hard, was selected to exemplify the SIMBES model. To implement the SIMBES application in Smalltalk paradigm, a system class hierarchy was constructed. The hierarchy consists of five large classes such as Job Generator, Job Scheduler, Job Evaluator, Inference Engine, and Executive System. Several classes inside these classes were identified. Additionally, instance protocols about all classes have been described in terms of messages and pseudo methods. These protocols can be implemented easily by any other object-oriented languages. Furthermore, these results may be used as a skeletal system to develop a new SIMBES efficiently, especially when the application is related to other scheduling problems.

  • In these days of world-wide business environment, the characteristics of quality management are variety, specialty, decentralization, totality, etc. Thus nowadays quality management is demanded to incorporate these new concepts. We propose a web-bused distributed expert system for this purpose. The system consists of four expert systems for design of experiment, acceptance inspection, statistical process control and reliability management corresponding to design quality, incoming-material quality, manufacturing quality and usability quality, respectively, throughout the total product life cycle. Each distributed expert system at the horizontal level in the hierarchy carries out its own quality jobs independently. At the lower level in the hierarchy there is an expert system for measurement analysis to provide reliable data, and at the upper level, an expert system for total quality management to coordinate, integrate and make final decisions. A prototype has been developed and its application is presented.

  • The trigger mechanism in active object-oriented database systems is known to be a good tool for describing user-defined integrity constraints. It cannot adequately support, however, certain integrity constrains specified on the objects in class composition hierarchy. Those are the cases where the constraints must be maintained in the forward direction along the composition hierarchy as well as in the backward direction We call theses kinds of problems "backward propagation problem" and investigate several ways to resolve them using the currently available techniques. Based on them, a new constructor, called CONSTRAIN $T^{cch}$, is proposed.   • In this paper, we searched for impact factors by brainstorming and calculated the weights of them using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method in order to develop energy technology strategy for the future. AHP is a useful method for evaluating multi-criteria decision making problems. We selected 3 criteria(possibility of success for developing technology, application of the technology, technical spin-off) and 10 sub-criteria. According to the result in this study, the most important sub-criterion is the possibility of commercialization, the second is the possibility of developing the fundamental technology, and the third is the possibility of convergence technology. The other side, the lowest important sub-criterion is the difference of technical standards as compared with advanced countries.
