Preparation and Properties of Waterborne Poly(urethane-urea) Ionomers -Effect of the Type of Neutralizing Agent-

  • A series of waterbome poly(urethane-urea) anionomers were prepared from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polycaprolactone diol (PCL), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), ethylene diamine (EDA), and triethylamine (TEA), NaOH, or Cu($(COOCH_3)_2$) as neutralizing agent. This study was performed to decide the effect of neutralizing agent type on the particle size viscosity, hydrogen bonding index, adhesive strength, antistaticity, antibacterial and mechanical properties. The particle size of the dispersions decreased in the following order: TEA based samples (T-sample), NaOH based samples (N-sample), and Cu($(COOCH_3)_2$) based sample (C-sample). The viscosity of the dispersions increased in the order of C-sample, N-sample, and T-sample. Metal salt based film samples Of and C-sample) had much higher antistaticity than TEA based sample. By infrared spectroscopy, it was found that the hydrogen bonding index (or fraction) of samples decreased in the order of T-sam-pie, N-sample, and C-sample. The adhesive strength and tensile modulus/strength decreased in the order of T-sample, N-sam-pie, and C-sample. The C-sample had strong antibacterial halo, however, T- and N-samples did not

제산제와 항궤양제 복합제제의 In Vitro 및 In Vivo 제산력 평가 (In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation of the Combined Products of Antacid and Anti-ulcer Drug)

  • The combined products of antacid and anti-ulcer agent were prepared with antacid composed of aluminium hydroxide dried gel, magnesium hydroxide and simethicone with a ratio of 1:1:0.1 (M) and anti-ulcer agent, aceglutamide aluminium (AGA). The efficacy of antacid was evaluated in vitro with Fuchs, Johnson-Duncan and Rosset-Rice methods and in vivo using an aspiration method in rat. The addition of anti-ulcer agent did not affect the neutralizing capacity of M significantly. The combined products with the M/AGA ratios of 2.3:1 and 3.4:1 produced the maximum pH of $4.0{\sim}5.8$ and the duration time of $64{\sim}137$ min in vitro test. The in vivo neutralizing test in rats showed the rapid increase of gastric pH up to 3.5 within 30 min and the gastric pH of $4{\sim}6$ was kept for 5 hr.

재래 산양에서의 아까바네 감염에 의한 척추만곡증 (Congenital Abnormalitis in Korean Native Goat with Akabane Virus)

  • Akabane virus is a cause of severe congenital defects, but adult animals show no signs of infection. In this study, congenital abnormalitis associated with Akabane virus infection in Korean native goat. The prevalence of serum neutralizing antibodies to Akabane virus in goat population was investigated, indicating that approximately 30% of goats in Korea were seropositive(36/120). The mother goats have the highest titers of neutralizing antibodies, as 1:128. And also there showed seropositive of Akabane virus in newborn fetus fluids. The necropsy results of newborn fetus visceral organs were appeared normal. These findings provide that Akabane virus is the ethiological agent of congenital abnormalitis and stillbirth. Our results suggest that goat in natural situations are part of the Akabane virus transmission cycle.

Preparation of a Crosslinked Poly(acrylic acid) Based New Dehydrating Agent by Using the Taguchi Method

  • A new crosslinked, poly(acrylic acid)-based, dehydrating agent was synthesized through solution polymerization. The Taguchi method, a robust experimental design, was adopted to optimize the synthetic conditions based on the moisture and water absorbing capacities of the dehydrating agent. The method applied for the experiment was a standard L27 ($3^8$) orthogonal array with eight parameters and three levels. By analyzing the variance of the test results, the most effective parameters to control the moisture absorbing capacity (MAC) and its rate were the kind of alkaline base (LiOH, NaOH, or KOH) used as a neutralizing agent of the acrylic acid monomer and the degree of neutralization: The maximum MAC of 40% was achieved at only 2 hat $32^{\circ}C$ and 50% RH when KOH was used as a base and the degree of neutralization was 90%, respectively. However, the water absorbing capacity (WAC) of the resulting dehydrating agent was very low at 158 g/g, indicating that WAC is unaffected by MAC and its rate in this system. The surface morphologies of the agents were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

  • The production of fumaric acid in shaken flask cultures by Rhizopus oryzae KCTC 6946 was studied. The effects of various carbon and nitrogen sources on fumaric acid production were investigated. The strain fermented starch (or glucose) and corn steep liquor (or polypepton) better than other carbon and nitrogen sources to fumaric acid. When C/N ratio of carbon and nitrogen source was 41.7, the concentration of fumaric acid produced with 2N NaGH as a neutralizing agent was more than 10 g/L after 3 days.

  • AMB(Acid Mine Drainage), characterized as high concentration of metal & sulfate ions and low pH(2.0~4.0), is the world-wide problem wherever there is or has been mining activities. Though limestone has been generally used to neutralize AMD, There are metal hydroxide precipitation on the surface of limestone and excessive alkalinity formation which exceeds the regulation. In this research, concrete-recycled fine aggregate is selected for alternative neutralizing agent. Because fine recycled aggregate had more ANP than others in the preliminary research, the purpose of this research is to apply fine aggregate for AMD neutralization. Three columns packed with fine aggregates(2.5mm$O_3$) of it is calculated as 0.09(C-1), approximated 10% purity of limestone. Comparing with values of other columns(C-2: 0.01 and C-3: 0.01), there is variation of porosity and residence time induced from the precipitation of metal hydroxide. Consequently, 8 hours of HRT is enough to create adequate alkalinity and the function which could expect the variation of porosity(n) and residence time( $t_{R}$) should be applied to develop design function.lied to develop design function.

축산폐수 전처리를 위한 펜톤산화 적정조건에 관한 연구 (A Study on Proper Fenton Oxidation Conditions for Pretreatment of Livestock Wastewater)

  • 본 연구에서는 펜톤산화 공정을 축산폐수의 전처리 시스템으로 활용하고자 초기 pH, $H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ 비율, $H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ 약품주입량, 응집 및 침전을 위한 중화제 등과 같은 펜톤산화의 적정 운영조건을 도출하는 실험적 연구를 실시하였다. 적정 조건을 도출하기 위해 교반시험기를 이용하여 120 rpm에서 2시간 동안 각 조건을 변화시키면서 펜톤산화 반응을 진행한 후 2시간 동안 침전시켜 그 상등액의 잔류 과산화수소, $COD_{Cr}$, SS 등을 분석하였다. 실험결과 도출된 최적조건은 초기 pH는 4, $H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$비율은 10:1, $H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ 약품주입량은 5,000/500mg/L 그리고 중화제로는 $Ca(OH)_2$가 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 최적 조건에서 펜톤산화에 의해 축산폐수의 $COD_{Cr}$ 제거율은 43% 그리고 SS는 84%의 제거율을 나타내었다.

Virus 중화시험법에 의한 닭 빈혈성인자의 항체조사 (Survey of antibody to chicken anemia agent by virus neutralization test)

  • A serological survey for antibody to chicken anemia agent(CAA) was carried out by virus neutralization test. Antibody to CAA was detected in broilers and layers at different age groups. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. Of a total of 1,035 chicken sera from 1.16 flocks 617 samples of sera were detected as positive(59.6%) and 95 flocks of a total flocks as positive(81.9%). 2. Proportion of positive sera by age were 92.3 %(88.9~100%) at 1 to 2 weeks of age, 56.4%(16.7~77.8%) at 3 to 9 weeks of age, 85.0%(50.0~100%) at 10 to 14 weeks of age and all tested sera were positive at over the 15 weeks age. 3. In each broiler and layer chicken 63.6% and 68.4% chicks possessed positive sera respectively. 4. Neutralizing antibody titer in age group was various from 1:10 to 1:6,400 and mean titer was 1:400 to 1:800.
