  • At the neutral sections, There are neutral sections inserted in overhead contact line between the substations to divide different phase current sections of AC electrified lines. Except convention line, a large stress occurs in the contact wire near the fittings under passing pantographs. So, in order to raise the train speed over 150km/h, a new type section has been adopted.

  • The neutral section on electric railway system is significant sector in order to prevent short circuit of two electric powers. However, while electric trains pass the neutral section, those speed is decreased and the accident of AC electric traction system and the electric train would be occurred. So the countermeasures are urgently needed. The automatic power switching technology system that is current being research and development is system to improve these problems. Because main object of this system is power change using static switch in the neutral section, it's expected to cause a variety of transients. Especially, onboard transformer inrush current for electric railway train can be occurred more than rated current according to switching time. Therefore, the analysis and improvement are needed to ensure the stability of this system. In this paper, we analyze the operating characteristics of the automatic power switching technology system. Especially, it reviews inrush current according to the closing phase angle. And we propose control plan of inrush current considering the case that voltage is maintained due to counter electromotive force and regenerative braking operation of electric railway train. Finally, the proposed control scheme was reviewed using the transient analysis program.

  • In AC railway feeding system, three phase received from the network is changed to two phase power sources with different phases. The main circuit breaker installed train is automatically open by track signal when the train passes the neutral section. In order to continuously supply power source to train, the changeover system was used in Japan. Therefore, the train is able to operate under powering condition when it was passing through the neutral section. We investigated the control method to reduce the inrush current flowing main transformer in train. To examine the inrush current and operate the static semiconductor switch such as thyristor, we manufactured the small scale the changeover system and carried out performance tests.

  • Currently in Korea, neutral sections in front of substations and sectioning posts are greatly divided into AC/DC sections and AC/AC sections. Considering catenary damage and safety issues trains pass crossover by coasting driving at notch-off. However in cases of Japan, China, or Taiwan, the usage of automatic crossover system makes it possible to pass at notch-on, enhancing high-speed railway operation for efficiency, and stability. These are the purposes of developing automatic power crossover system in neutral sections. This paper introduces two methods to detect the position of a train required to activate automatic crossover systems in neutral sections. The optimal method is expected in terms of the distance of neutral section.

  • A rational method for prediction of long-term deflections of reinforced concrete beams under sustained loads was proposed. Strain and stress distributions of uncracked and fully cracked sections after creep and shrinkage were determined from the requirements of strain compatibility and force equilibrium of a section, and then long-term deflections were calculated from the section analysis results. In fully cracked section analysis, noncoincidence of the neutral axis of strain and the neutral axis of stress after creep and shrinkage was taken into account. The accuracy of the proposed method was verified by comparison with several experimental measurements of beam deflections. The proposed approximate procedure gave the better predictions than the existing approximate methods. At the same time, the proposed method also retained simplicity of the calculation, since maximum long-term deflection could be obtained without tedious integration of the curvatures.

  • The high speed line and conventional line are a single-phase AC feeding system; and power supplies of different phases meet at SS(SubStation)s or SP(Sectioning Post)s. These sections should be negotiated with the main circuit breaker in the traction vehicle switched off, whereby the length of the neutral zone prevents the pantographs shunting adjacent overhead line section. In order for electric railway vehicles to make power running there, there must be a power supply changeover section (approx. for 1km), where a changeover switch changes a power supply to the other power supply of a train running direction sequentially. For a thorough changeover switching control, the precise train position detection is necessarily required. In this paper, to realize the ground-based train position detection method, configuration scheme of train position detection equipment is suggested by using track circuit and axle counter.

Effect of Hydrophobic, Neutral Adhesive on the Dentin Bond Strength of Self-etching Adhesive

  • Objectives : This study investigated the hypothesis that the dentin bond strength of self-etching adhesives (SEAs) may be improved by applying a coat of hydrophobic, neutral adhesive resin in addition to SEA. Method and Materials : The bond strengths of two SEAs - Experimental SEA (EX) and Adper Prompt (AP) - were measured with three bonding protocols. The D/E resin of All-Bond 2 was applied as the hydrophobic, neutral adhesive. Clearfil SE Bond (SE, self-etching primer system) and All-Bond 2 (AB, total etching system) were used as references. The following protocols were used: (1) EX1 (EX 1 coat); (2) EX2 (EX 2 coats); (3) EX+ (EX 1 coat + D/E resin); (4) AP1 (AP 1 coat); (5) AP2 (AP 2 coats); (6) AP+ (AP 1 coat + D/E resin); (7) SE (SE primer + SE bond); (8) SE+ (SE primer + D/E resin); (9) AB (etching + AB primer + D/E resin). Filtek Z250 composite resin was built up and the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) values of the specimens were compared. The fractured surfaces were observed using SEM. Results : When SEA was used as self-etching primer and hydrophobic, neutral adhesive was applied as well, MTBS was significantly higher than that when either one coat or two coats of SEA only were used (p < 0.05). Conclusion : The hydrophobic, neutral adhesive improved the integrity of the bonded interface obtained with SEA.

크리프에 의한 철근콘크리트 보의 처짐 예측 (Prediction of Deflection of Reinforced Concrete Beams due to Creep)

  • 본 논문에서는 장기지속하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 보의 처짐을 계산하는 방법을 제안하였다. 균열단면에 대하여 적합조건 및 평형조건을 적용하여 크리프에 의한 중립축의 변화를 계산하는 효율적인 알고리즘을 제시하였으며, 이 값을 이용하여 임의의 시간에서의 휨강성을 유도하였다. 그리고 유사한 방법으로 비균열단면에서의 휨강성을 계산하고 균열단면과 비균열단면에서 각각 계산된 휨강성을 사용하여 ACI규준식의 유효단면 2차모멘트를 계산하는 것과 유사한 방법으로 휨강성을 계산하여 지속하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 보의 처짐을 예측하는 방법을 제시하였다. 제안된 방법과 기존의 실험결과를 비교하여 볼 때, 제안된 방법이 장기지속하중을 받는 철근콘크리트보의 처짐을 잘 예측하였다.

Sensitivity analysis of flexural strength of RC beams influenced by reinforcement corrosion

  • The corrosion of reinforcement leads to a gradual decay of structural strength and durability. Several models for crack occurrence prediction and crack width propagation are investigated in this paper. Analytical and experimental models were used to predict the bond strength in the period of corrosion propagation. The manner of flexural strength loss is calculated by application of these models for different scenarios. As a new approach, the variation of the concrete beam neutral axis height has been evaluated, which shows a reduction in the neutral axis height for the scenarios without loss of bond. Alternatively, an increase of the neutral axis height was observed for the scenarios including bond and concrete section loss. The statistical properties of the parameters influencing the strength have been deliberated associated with obtaining the time-dependent bending strength during corrosion propagation, using Monte Carlo (MC) random sampling method. Results showed that the ultimate strain in concrete decreases significantly as a consequence of the bond strength reduction during the corrosion process, when the section reaches to its final limit. Therefore, such sections are likely to show brittle behavior.

시뮬레이터를 이용한 정지형 개폐기 여자돌입전류 분석 (The Analysis of the Inrush Current of Main Transformer Using the Simulator)

  • On AC railway systems, the neutral sections are installed in front of substations and sectioning posts in order to avoid crash between power that have differing phases. In case railway vehicles pass through these neutral sections, it is necessary for them to switch to coasting driving by notch-off. This may reduce speed of the vehicles, resulting lowered train operation efficiency. The usage of automatic power switching systems makes it possible to pass neutral sections at notch-on, enhancing operation efficiency so that it is appropriate for high-speed railway applications. This paper analyzed inrush current of main transformer that installed on the train while passing through the neutral section using the simulator.
