  • This paper proposes a systematic method to develop short-term electrical load forecasting systems using neuro-fuzzy models. The proposed system predicts the electrical loads with the lead times of 1 hour, 24 hour, and 168 hour. To do so, the load forecasting system first builds an initial structure off-line for each hour of four day types and then stores the resultant initial structures in the initial structure bank. 96 initial structures are constructed for each prediction lead time. Whenever a prediction needs to be made, the proposed system initializes the neuro-fuzzy model with the appropriate initial structure stored and trains the initialized prediction modell. To improve the performance of the prediction system in terms of accuracy and reliability at the same time, the prediction model employs only two inputs. It makes possible to interpret the fuzzy rules to be learned. In order to demonstrate the viability of the proposed method, we develop a load forecasting system by using the real load data collected during 1996 and 1997 at KEPCO. Simulation results reveal that the prediction system developed in this paper can achieve a remarkable improvement on both accuracy and reliability

  • In this paper, a new design methodology named FNNN(Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Network) algorithm is proposed to identify the structure and parameters of fuzzy model using PNN(Polynomial Neural Network) structure and a fuzzy inference method. The PNN is the extended structure of the GMDH(Group Method of Data Handling), and uses several types of polynomials such as linear, quadratic and modified quadratic besides the biquadratic polynomial used in the GMDH. The premise of fuzzy inference rules defines by triangular and gaussian type membership function. The fuzzy inference method uses simplified and regression polynomial inference method which is based on the consequence of fuzzy rule expressed with a polynomial such as linear, quadratic and modified quadratic equation are used. Each node of the FPNN is defined as fuzzy rules and its structure is a kind of neuro-fuzzy architecture Several numerical example are used to evaluate the performance of out proposed model. Also we used the training data and testing data set to obtain a balance between the approximation and generalization of proposed model.

  • Data are an expression of the language or numerical values that show some features. And the information is extracted from data for the specific purposes. The knowledge is utilized as information to construct rules that recognize patterns or make a decision. Today, knowledge extraction and application of that are broadly accomplished for the easy comprehension and the performance improvement of systems in the several industrial fields. The knowledge extraction can be achieved by some steps that include the knowledge acquisition, expression, and implementation. Such extracted knowledge is drawn by rules with data mining techniques. Clustering (CL), input space partition (ISP), neuro-fuzzy (NF), neural network (NN), extension matrix (EM), etc. are employed for the knowledge expression based upon rules. In this paper, the various approaches of the knowledge extraction are surveyed and categorized by methodologies and applied industrial fields. Also, the trend and examples of each approaches are shown in the tables and graphes using the categories such as CL, ISP, NF, NN, EM, and so on.

  • Cl\iAC model was proposed by Albus [6J to formulate the processing characteristics of the human cerebellum. Instead of the global weight updating scheme used in the back propagation, CMAC use the local weight updating scheme. Therefore, CMAC have the advantage of fast learning and high convergence rate. In this paper, simulate Color Calibration by CMAC in color images and design hardware by VHDL-base high-level synthesis.

  • In image jacobian based visual servoing, generally, inverse jacobian should be calculated by complicated coordinate transformations. These are required excessive computation and the singularity of the image jacobian should be considered. This paper presents a visual servoing to control the pose of the robotic manipulator for tracking and grasping 3-D moving object whose pose and motion parameters are unknown. Because the object is in motion tracking and grasping must be done on-line and the controller must have continuous learning ability. In order to estimate parameters of a moving object we use the kalman filter. And for tracking and grasping a moving object we use a fuzzy inference based reinforcement learning algorithm of dynamic recurrent neural networks. Computer simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of this visual servoing

  • This paper proposes a neuro-fuzzy adaptive controller which includes the procedure of initializing the identification neural network(INN) and that of learning the control neural network(CNN). The identification neural network is initialized with the informations of the plant which are obtained by a fuzzy controller and the control neural network is trained by the weight informations of the identification neural network during on-line operation.

  • For recipe prediction of colorant proportion showing nonlinear behavior, we modeled the effects of colorant proportion of basic colors on the target colors and predicted colorant proportion necessary for making target colors. First, colorant proportion of basic colors and color information indicated by the instrument was applied by a linear model and a multi-layer perceptrons model with back-propagation learning method. However, satisfactory results were not obtained because of nonlinear property of colors. Thus, in this study the neuro-fuzzy model with merit of artificial neural networks and fuzzy systems was presented. The proposed model was trained with test data and colorant proportion was predicted. The effectiveness of the proposed model was verified by evaluation of color difference(${\Delta}E$).

  • In this paper, a novel neural network compensation technique for PD like fuzzy controlled robot manipulators is presented. A standard PD-like fuzzy controller is designed and used as a main controller for controlling robot manipulators. A neural network controller is added to the reference trajectories to modify input error space so that the system is robust to any change in system parameter variations. It forms a neural-fuzzy control structure and used to compensate for nonlinear effects. The ultimate goal is same as that of the neuro-fuzzy control structure, but this proposed technique modifies the input error not the fuzzy rules. The proposed scheme is tested to control the position of the 3 degrees-of-freedom rotary robot manipulator. Performances are compared with that of other neural network control structure known as the feedback error learning structure that compensates at the control input level.

  • In this paper, we propose a compliance control scheme using a neurofuzzzy compliance model(NFCM). as a new control paradigm for telerobot systems. A NFCM, used as a compliance controller, is composed of a fuzzy compliance model(FCM), a neural network and a low pass filter. The NFCM is trained through a reinforcement learning algorithm, and then, can generate suitable compliant motion for a given task. A series of simulations have been performed to show applicability of the proposed algorithm send it is found that the NFCM can implement suitable compliant motion for a given task through the learning procedure.

  • Speech is one of the most efficient communication media and it includes several kinds of factors about speaker, context emotion and so on. Human emotion is expressed in the speech, the gesture, the physiological phenomena(the breath, the beating of the pulse, etc). In this paper, the method to have cognizance of emotion from anyone's voice signals is presented and simulated by using neuro-fuzzy model.
