  • The optimal rechlorination in water distribution systems was investigated by incorporating optimization techniques into a numerical water quality model. For a hypothetical system that consists of 10 junctions including a storage tank and 12 links, the bulk ($k_b$) and pipe-wall ($k_w$) decay-rate constants of chlorine residual are assumed to be 2.0 1/day and 1.5 m/day, respectively. It was also assumed that the lower and upper limits of chlorine residual in the network are 0.2 mg/L and 0.6 mg/L. When the chlorine source is only the storage tank (without rechlorination), the high levels of chlorine residual appear near the storage tank to maintain the chlorine residuals above the lower limit over the junctions. On the other hand, the chlorine residuals in the network are distribute within the desirable range (0.2 - 0.6 mg/L) after the optimal rechlorination through five injection sites including the storage tank. In case of a real water distribution system that comprises 28 junctions including a clear well and 27 links, the bulk and pipe-wall decay-rate constants are 0.3 1/day and 0.2 m/day, respectively. Before rechlorination, the required chlorine residual at the clearwell is 5.1 mg/L to keep the chlorine residuals above the minimum level (0.6 mg/L) over the junctions. By the optimal rechlorination at five injection sites, the chlorine residuals are distributed within a desirable range of 0.6 mg/L through 2.0 mg/L, which can avoid the excess of chlorine residuals near the clear well. Consequently, total chlirine doses are decreased by 81% in the hypothetical distribution network and 69 % in the real distribution network for satisfying the minimum chlorine residuals.

  • Safe installation and operation of high-pressure composite cylinders for hydrogen storage are of primary concern. It is unavoidable for the cylinders to experience temperature variation and significant thermal input during service. The maximum failure pressure that the cylinder can sustain is affected due to the dependence of composite material properties on temperature and complexity of cylinder design. Most of the analysis reported for high-pressure composite cylinders is based on simplifying assumptions and does not account for complexities like thermo-mechanical behavior and temperature dependent material properties. In the present work, a comprehensive finite element simulation tool for the design of hydrogen storage cylinder system is developed. The structural response of the cylinder is analyzed using laminated shell theory accounting for transverse shear deformation and geometric nonlinearity. A composite failure model is used to evaluate the failure pressure under various thermo-mechanical loadings. A back-propagation neural network (NNk) model is developed to predict the maximum failure pressure using the analysis results. The failure pressures predicted from NNk model are compared with those from test cases. The developed NNk model is capable of predicting the failure pressure for any given loading condition.

  • In digital pathology, an electronic system in the biomedical domain storage of the files is a big constrain and because all the analysis and annotation takes place at every user-end manually, it becomes even harder to manage the data that is being shared inside an enterprise. Therefore, we need such a storage system which is not only big enough to store all the data but also manage it and making communication of that data much easier without losing its true from. A virtual server setup is one of those techniques which can solve this issue. We set a main server which is the main storage for all the virtual machines(that are being used at user-end) and that main server is controlled through a hypervisor so that if we want to make changes in storage overall or the main server in itself, it could be reached remotely from anywhere by just using the server's IP address. The server in our case includes XML-RPC based API which are transmitted between computers using HTTP protocol. JAVA API connects to HTTP/HTTPS protocol through JAVA Runtime Environment and exists on top of other SDK web services for the productivity boost of the running application. To manage the server easily, we use Tkinter library to develop the GUI and pmw magawidgets library which is also utilized through Tkinter. For managing, monitoring and performing operations on virtual machines, we use Python binding to XML-RPC based API. After all these settings, we approach to make the system user friendly by making GUI of the main server. Using that GUI, user can perform administrative functions like restart, suspend or resume a virtual machine. They can also logon to the slave host of the pool in case of emergency and if needed, they can also filter virtual machine by the host. Network monitoring can be performed on multiple virtual machines at same time in order to detect any loss of network connectivity.

  • Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies involve three major stages, i.e., capture, transport, and storage. The transportation stage of CCS technologies has received relatively little attention because the requirements for $CO_2$ transport differ based on the industry-related conditions, geological, and demographical characteristics of each country. In this study, we analyzed the properties of $CO_2$ transport using a pipeline. This study has important implications for ensuring the stability of a long-term CCS as well as the large cost savings, as compared to the small cost ratio as a percentage of the entire CCS system. The state of $CO_2$, network topologies, and node distribution are among the major factors that influence $CO_2$ transport via pipelines. For the analysis of the properties of $CO_2$ transport using a pipeline, the $CO_2$ pipeline connections were visualized by the simulator developed by Lee [11] based on the network topologies in $CO_2$ transport. The case of Korean CCS technologies was applied to the simulation.

  • A local area network (LAN) is a computer network within a small geographical area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, office building or group of buildings. A LAN is composed of interconnected workstations and personal computers which are each capable of accessing and sharing data and devices, such as printers, scanners and data storage devices, anywhere on the LAN. LANs are characterized by higher communication and data transfer rates and the lack of any need for leased communication lines. Communication between remote parties can be achieved through a process called Networking, involving the connection of computers, media and networking devices. When we talk about networks, we need to keep in mind three concepts, distributed processing, network criteria and network structure. The purpose of this Network is to design a Local Area Network (LAN) for a BAEC (Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission) Head Quarter and implement security measures to protect network resources and system services. To do so, we will deal with the physical and logical design of a LAN. The goal of this Network is to examine of the Local Area Network set up for a BAEC HQ and build a secure LAN system.

  • A novel smart metering technique capable of anomaly detection was proposed for real-time home power management system. Smart meter data generated in real-time were obtained from 900 households of single apartments. To detect outliers and missing values in smart meter data, a deep learning model, the autoencoder, consisting of a graph convolutional network and bidirectional long short-term memory network, was applied to the smart metering technique. Power management based on the smart metering technique was executed by multi-objective optimization in the presence of a battery storage system and an electric vehicle. The results of the power management employing the proposed smart metering technique indicate a reduction in electricity cost and amount of power supplied by the grid compared to the results of power management without anomaly detection.

  • Access control systems are used to control the access of people to assets. In practice, assets are either tangible (e.g. goods, cash, etc.) or data. In order to handle tangible assets, a person must physically access the space in which the assets are located (e.g. a room or a building). Access control systems for this case have been known since antiquity and are based either on mechanical locks or on certificates. In the middle of the 20th century, systems based on electromagnetic phenomena appeared. In the second half of the same century, the need to control access to data also arose. And since data can also be accessed via a computer network, it was necessary to control not only the access of persons to areas with data storage, but also to control the electronic communication of persons with these storage facilities. The different types of the above systems have developed separately and more or less independently. This paper provides an overview of the current status of different types of systems, showing that these systems are converging technologically based on the use of electronics, computing and computer communication. Furthermore, the terminology and architecture of these systems is expanded in the article to allow a unified description of these systems. The article also describes the most common types of access control system configurations.

  • Now that we're in the big data era, data has taken on a new significance as the storage capacity has exploded from trillion bytes to petabytes at breakneck pace. As the use of cloud computing expands and becomes more commonly accepted, several businesses and institutions are opting to store their requests and data there. Cloud storage's concept of a nearly infinite storage resource pool makes data storage and access scalable and readily available. The majority of them, on the other hand, favour a single cloud because of the simplicity and inexpensive storage costs it offers in the near run. Cloud-based data storage, on the other hand, has concerns such as vendor lock-in, privacy leakage and unavailability. With geographically dispersed cloud storage providers, multicloud storage can alleviate these dangers. One of the key challenges in this storage system is to arrange user data in a cost-effective and high-availability manner. A multicloud storage architecture is given in this study. Next, a multi-objective optimization problem is defined to minimise total costs and maximise data availability at the same time, which can be solved using a technique based on the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and obtain a set of non-dominated solutions known as the Pareto-optimal set.. When consumers can't pick from the Pareto-optimal set directly, a method based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is presented to find the best answer. To sum it all up, thorough tests based on a variety of real-world cloud storage scenarios have proven that the proposed method performs as expected.
